Looking for somewhere to stay for the night in Gero en route to further north. 

Will have a boat so hoping for somewhere with secure parking so i dont have to unload all my things into the hotel room.

 I am not likely to get the caravan and dinghy and all the crap up to bottle bay on francois peron so am lokking at camping at big lagoon and go out through the channel into open water.  Will be mid June and thinking pinkies, black snapper and bluebone.  Is there reef or rubble outside the channel?  any comments appreciated.

Everyone had a smile on their face so it seems that they all had a good time there.

Curious if anyone knows off hand what a box of Lunds and a block of mulies will run me in carnarvon

deciding whether to buy before or run the gauntlet that there is any in stock if the price is comparable to an extent

 Hey guys heading up to Sharkbay for Easter has anybody fished south of Denham up towards the Aquarium or Eagle Bluff in a boat and is it worth scooting out looks pretty shallow.

 Was out of hale road the other morning, and a boat pulled up less than 50m from another boat already anchored up, and proceded to dive under and around his boat, he packed up and left, should the divers have gone further away?

I have an Simrad Evo 2 9"touchscreen unit with a large tranducer (which I assume is for the sonar/structure scan?

There are two other transducers fitted to the transom, one is an Airmar but I know nothing about it's specs etc nor exactly what it is for.

The third looks to be a smaller unit (bullet shaped) and possibly Lowrence???? This unit has a broken stem. I assume this is for the fish finder but am not certain. Anyway, can anyone assist me on this and if so what would be a suitable replacement for the last snapped unit?

The boat has an Etec 90 but is of a vintage just prior to being able to install a backbone for Nema and to have my range/speed and temps (water/motor etc).

I would also be very open to any assistance on operating the structure scan better as it appears to be dark arts to me so I never use it (if any of you do does this mean you don't use the fishfinder or do you keep flicking between the two?

we are taking the 5m Quintrex. I have never targeted queenie, harlequin, and nannygai in winter before and i am wondering 

if they are more of  summer fish or if they are active all year round. We usually fish between Albany and Hopetoun.

So planning to to do some night fishing in and around the sound and garden island this snapper season, and need to set up some boat lights

I have a 5.3m cabin boat and already have navigation and anchor lights.

Im going to put a floodlight bar on my bimini frame to act as a deck light ( looking at a hella marine one that I can alternate between white and blue, I’m thinking blue would be better to preserve night vision.)

I was considering some blue/white led strips under the gunnels but unsure if needed if I have the deck light bar?

Im not sure if I need some sort of fixed lighting at the front of the boat to see ahead when travelling. Is this recommended or would I be better off just using my night vision with hand held spotlight if needed

Hey Guys just on the topic of boat covers. Im thinking of purchasing a custom boat cover as my ebay covers have only been good for 12 months- if anyone out there can give me some feedback on their own custom cover- is it worth the expense- how much roughly for a 6 m Haines hunter and  recommended trimmers ??? Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get some sheep lanolin? A few years ago I got some electrical work done on the boat and the guy gave me some to put on battery terminals to stop corrosion. He’s gone out of business now so can’t find get any off him.

 Seen a lot of bait fish around in swan and want to catch them for tailor. Firstly is is possible to catch these fish and what methods are useful for them and second where is a good spot to catch tailor using live bait (live around canning bridge).

Sorry if this has been done to death, but some of the past recommendations are no longer doing it.
Need a Shimano Spheros repaired & serviced, baile arm does not play the game.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as usual.

 Too close to the reef maybe, pulling pots. 4 lucky punters, epirb came in handy.

 Looking for a good jiiging reel for perth snapper and other species maybe dhuies, breaksea, baldies. Can be spin or overhead doesnt really matter just whatever is best. Also a good jigging rod with a slow action as I will be slow pitch jigging. What would be recomend braid and what lb. Budget is around $1200 as I want it to last. Cheers

Hooked up the boat trailer today, attempted to adjust the brakes as they were a little aggressive. Nothing happened, glanced down at the controller and noticed screen was red with a warning "Internal Error No Brakes"

I did have brakes, just unable to adjust. Got home and disconnected the trailer and the controller was still showing the error. Left it for an hour or so and all was back to normal, hooked up the trailer again and all was fine.

Hopefully it was just a hiccup and won't happen again, but I'm thinking something must have caused it.

Anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions as to what may be the cause ?

was hoping to get some idea of what I was looking at on Saturday.

It's a wreck located in 20m and (usually) has cray pots in close proximity. We dropped plastics and small jigs over this for a few hours but had no enquiries.

my questions are : what are people's opinions on we seeing in the images?

is it likely to be bait over/surrounding the wreck? Or is it more likely to be weed?

we kept sounding  "lines" in the lower 10meters. Could these be fish or more likely severed cray pot ropes?

Does (mid water) weed? Show up on sounders like this?

all 3 pics are within about a 10 meter drift over the wreck.

 As a result of a butchered total hip replacement, I have had to sell my dinghy.  The bouncing around in the chop would cause too much jarring on the artificial joint etc.  I think I would be fine standing up on a charter boat and was thinking of trying Shikari Charters in about May/June.  I have never done any real snapper fishing around Perth (mainly up north) and wondered what would be the optimum time over winter to try for them.  Has anyone gone out with Allen Bevan?  I've only heard good reports.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

 Going up to Denham for 10 days in a few weeks. Hopefully weather should be good enough to get outside the island but looking at other options inside bay or Monkey Mia side.

Would like to have a fish out of Nanga as haven’t been there for over 20 years. Can anyone tell me if you can take your boat and launch there, fish for the day then go back to Denham without needing to book or go through the Nanga station/resort?

 Wednesday myself and a mate headed up to a spot near Leeman. Weather was better than expected so we had a quick fish in shallow after launching at 4pm, managed one 65cm dhu. Didn't think to take a photo.

Next day we headed out at daybreak and went about 8 nm offshore in my little 4.2 savage. We did a drift near some craypots and landed a couple of snapper. This is only the second time we have caught snapper in this area. We then went out to about 35 mts where I found little shows like the one below on my new furuno 628.

These produced baldy and dhus and our 2 person bag for the day was 1 dhu around 55cm, 1x 48cm baldy and 2 x 60cm snapper.

The following day we only had a couple hours to fish so went straight out to the 30s but the fish were quiet and we only managed a 60cm baldy and a 4ocm blackarse.

I really do like the furuno 628, the lowrance carbon 7/totalscan combo was only seeing fish if they were really thick
