Pingers
Submitted by Coastrunner on Mon, 2023-02-06 13:45So Sunday morning I'm sitting on a KG spot catching snapper on my whiting rig and this lot cruised through, less respect for a blokes hard won spot than black barcrusher owners.
Magic conditions until the NNW sprung up and blew the sea mist on the horizon in, KG's and squid not overly productive but some very nice sandies around.

Lowrance HDS 12 transducer lead
Submitted by Kelvinjr12 on Thu, 2023-02-02 13:02Hi guys just seeking a bot of advice if anyone knows much about the Lowrance HDS 12 transducer leads, 1 of the 9 pins has snapped off so I am getting no structure pictures. A dealer has told me I will need to buy a whole new transducer for well over $300, I was thinking I could possibly buy an extension lead on-line (approx $100) & just join them can this be done? & if so anyone keen to earn a few dollars to join them as they are so fiddly. Any advice appreciated cheers

Drone fishing
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Thu, 2023-02-02 10:13Have seen a rapid rise with drone fishing over social media lately.
Anyone on here thinking about getting into it ? or are already doing it ?
I use to own a Mavic Pro and loved it and from what I have seen on facebook it's pretty easy to drop a fair bit of coing setting yourself up.
I also wonder how ramped up the rangers will be in enforcing access to beaches and eventually no access due to greens crying over erosion etc etc ?

Mullies/Squid - Keeping Fresh
Submitted by Tupac on Wed, 2023-02-01 12:14The fishing stores sell the bait frozen.
When out and about fishing, how does one maintain the 'health' of the bait - ice bags in cooler boxes the best approach?
Are there mobile freezers on the market to keep bait in original conditon?
What about dry ice?
Appreciate any feedback or tips to keep bait usable.

Melanoma
Submitted by Silver Fox on Tue, 2023-01-31 08:08Be sun smart people.
Had a freckle on my top lip that was growing at an exponential rate. A quick trip to the dermatologist and an even quicker trip to a plastic surgeon saw a stage zero ( thank fuck ) in situ melanoma removed along with a decent piece of my top lip. Most impressed by the all Lady surgical team. Looking a little like Miss Piggy in the nose department at the moment....:)

New rules
Submitted by fishfish on Mon, 2023-01-30 19:34As we are all aware the new you beauty save the fish stock rules are to be introduced. Does anyone have reliable information that the new rules are to be implemented. Fisheries website has been updated for a while including the abrohlos changes but I haven't heard any official releases from government departments etc.
Anyone have links to the "Acts " passed or new laws / legislation etc ???
There was an add on mainstream radio few weeks back which I heard once but nothing since , you'd think they would be making people aware of the current changes.
Not even an email or pamphlet in the mail.
Cheers fishfish .

Fishing Kayak
Submitted by tcarroll on Fri, 2023-01-27 08:08Hi all,
I've been thinking of getting a fishing yak to fish the sheltered waters on the inside of the reef on the west side here in Exmouth and also in the Gulf.
No experience whatsoever with kayak fishing but somebody is flogging off a brand new one of these kayaks2fish NextGen 10 MK2 up here for what seems cheap.
Any advice or knowledge if this is a good/bad starting point? I certainly won't be taking it too seriously and just something to play around on more than anything.

Hopetoun Catches
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Thu, 2023-01-26 17:30Staying at my bro's in Hopetoun. Finally gave my almost 13y old his speargun licence and he nailed a decent occy. A family on the beach were going off their heads about it much to our great mirth bwahaha.
Caught a bunch of 30-40cm black bream yesterday and raided brother's mate's dam today and caught some mutant yabbies today.
The squid has alluded us.... thus far.

Abrolhos new rules
Submitted by Rob H on Tue, 2023-01-24 17:46For us in the Midwest, those who frequent the Abrolhos at least a small piece of positive news.
Demersal and pelagic limits will be seperate 5kg each and seperate daily limits.
This is in line with the push for alternative opportunities to demersal and that no one has raised concerns about pelagic stocks.
There may be more minor updates but the above has already been updated on the DPIRD website
Yes it is frustrating keeping up with it, but also be aware that people ARE working hard in the background to sort it out.

not fishing but solar question .
Submitted by mikeurnot on Mon, 2023-01-23 17:24
Ok not fishing related but my roof solar hot water system tank is leaking not even 10 years old . Got quote to replace it one was $4,575 . ok thats to much what about a gas unit instead . Quote $3,174. Hmm rather steep .
The solar panels are in good condition many years left . My question is can you just get a tank to replace the old one . If so where ? Us pensioners are not made of money .
Any help would be appreciated .

Hillarys boat ramp
Submitted by wifecallsmegrumpy on Sat, 2023-01-21 15:02Anyone caught up at the ramp this morning ? I was there about 8am and it was a zoo. No parking and people so frustrated, had to think the dhu ban has something to do with it also.
Hope everyone looks out for each other and helps to keep the queue flowing.

Abrolhos islands trip info please
Submitted by beeroclock on Tue, 2023-01-17 12:16Hi all, Im planning my first trip to Abrolhos islands this year. Planning on going just for 2 nights with the wifey on last weekend of March if winds and wave gods are kind to us. Just wondering is it safe to leave the car and trailer in Geraldton marina for the time we over there or do most people leave car and trailer somewhere safer? if so where?. I know you cant camp on islands so where would be best to anchor up out of southerly for a first timer out there. I was thinking somewher around Gun or sandy island? or is there anywhere better? safer? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated so trip goes smooth as possible cheers Dave
