Exceptional service

Quite a while back, I bought a camp fridge / freezer from BCF Malaga. I took it on various camping trips and found that from day 1, It worked OK on 240 volts but only gave a very short period on battery power.
I was never totally sure if it was the fridge, or maybe the wiring or waeco fridge connector in the back of my cruiser so I continued to use it only when 240 volt power was available.
A few weeks back, BCF had a big sale on 45 litre Waeco fridges so I decided to buy one and see if that unit worked in the same situation as the the old one.
After freezing a bunch of bottles on mains power, I then switched off mains power and left the fridge overnight in the medium power cut out mode. Next morning, some 15 hours later, fridge still running and temp still at -18 degrees. This proved that the car / wiring was OK and the old fridge had been at fault all along.
I wrote a letter to BCF explaining my findings and requested a refund.
4 days later, I was contacted by the Malaga store manager and advised my refund had been approved.
I was amazed and extrememly happy at this outcome. I also have to say that in the years I have been dealing with BCF Malaga, the staff have always been Super friendly, helpful and knowledgable.
A major thumbs up and thanks to BCF for the handling of this situation

Fishing Hat

Hey guys, its time for me to buy a new hat for the boat and im interested to hear what others think works best.

I have fair skin so i need to be careful about sun burn and need to cover up well - A baseball cap is not good enough

but of course theres the practical aspect of it also, some hats are a bit cumbersome

What kind of hat do you like to wear when fishing?

Fisheries were at the ramp and checked all boats incoming. No one doing the wrong thing which was good.  get out there and hook into them, there are some horse out there to catch.

Dunsborough from boat

 Hello all,

Going to Dunsborough for 3 nights with family and although the winds look a bit strong, I am hoping to get a window or 2.

I have a 5.6 Barcrusher and would like to just stay in the bay chasing squid and some whiting - maybe spot the odd whale.

Is the Old Boat ramp suitable for my boat?

Any advice as to how the catches are going?

Thanks in advance.

Cheap way to buy a Beastmaster 9000

Hey guys,

Decided to buy a Beastmaster 9000A to replace my Tanacom 1000. After a little searching online I got smart. Found one on the east coast (a tackleworld) on sale for $1999 (cheaper than any local store), then made my local Anaconda beat them by 10%. Walked away with one for $1800. A lot cheaper than the RRP!

hope this is useful to someone else...

cheers!

Vex Bottom Meat

So , who has used these things? I bought one for a laugh the other day. I havent been fishing for about 6 months due to one thing or another , so needed some hooks and spotted these bottom meats and thought i would try. Picked up a smal dhu and a flathead that must have come up of the bottom to commit suicide lol , on a pretty quiet day by all reports. I was pretty impressed lots of hooks and shiny bits and you can add bait ( im Old school lol) . So just wondering anyone else used them and what size configuration for particular species do you guys use?

Cheers from a non lure user maybe lol.

Jurien in Oct

I am heading up to Jurien second half of the school holidays and it’ll just be me and the kids (6,8,11) for the first 5 days as the Mrs is stuck at work.

I’m hoping some kind folk will be able to give me some pointers on areas I can hit up with them. I went up with the old man in June 2018 so have a skippy hole, whiting spot and some squidding grounds already plugged in but the 3m swell didn’t allow us to explore too much. Will the back of the islands be worth a troll for a mack this time of year? Is just inside that 40m contour worth sounding up for a dhu?

The kids will be capable of heading out around the back on the Island but I don’t think my daughter is going to be too keen on bashing out to the bank and will probably stick within a 6 mile radius of the ramp.

Cheers JF

Navionics on Raymarine

I just got a new Axiom 9 from Raymarine.

It uses Navionics on its plotter.

It came with an Australian wide card.

The detail is crap. Nowhere near what I can get on my phone using the mobile app. I updated the card online still little detail on the plotter.

Anyone else had this happen? Any fixes?

Northern Fishing Charters

 G'day Folks,

Chasing some info on north west / mid west charters chasing barramundi, mangrove jacks / threadfin salmon in the estuary. Preferred method of fishing is casting at snags for fish failing which trolling is the fall back option. No bait fishing.

Will be bringing all my tackle so doesn't really matter if they don't provide.

If it gives the option of exploring bluewater action that'll be icing on the cake.

Hoping to do the charter in Oct or Nov - I know it's a long shot but I'll just put in on the table anyway.

If you can let me know either by replying or PM that'll be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks

Uluabuster

No tackle failure

Had a good day out today with my son and Stevieboy. A great dhuie at close to 98cm, 2 good snapper, one over 80 and the other over 70 and 3 nice baldies. Got the dhuie while heading to some ground fished previously when there was a little spike on the sounder. Went back and sounded around and found a small lump with some fish activity. Activated spot lock on my Minn Kota and dropped some baits. After a few minutes, my son got smashed and started to bring in what he kept saying was the biggest fish he had ever hooked. After a lengthy fight on lightish rod, up popped this absolute cracker to end an epic day. dont think we would have managed without spot lock as this was a very small lump. Back at the ramp by 2 which for me is quite an achievement. Best of all, no tackle failures - after having cut up all my old rigs and starting over again. No unknown items ever again

Cray tipper and winch.

Is there a right and wrong side for a tipper. I had planned to install a tipper on the Starboard side so as skipper I could line up easily on the pot rope/float. And of course have the winch mounted on the Port side. Some have suggested that the tipper should be on the Port side but are unable to explain why. What is the weight of opinion or expert advise?

Thank you for your comments

No fishing at Gage Roads??

I took the boat out for the first time in months yesterday, more so just to check it still works! Me and a mate were pissing around off Gage Roads/Freo, around the cargo ship anchoring berths, chasing whiting. we got a couple of tidlers, but half way through our little session a big Pilot boat came charging towards us, and when he was just about on top of us said "you cant anchor in Gage Roads", to which I replied "I'm not anchored, we're drifting". He then said to us "you cant fish here either, you need to leave this area".

I kinda took his word for it, upped lines and moved a few k's away. I've researched the hell out of it today, and cant find anything, anywhere, about not being able to fish at Gage Roads. the only thing I can find about it is on Navionics, where it states there's "ANCHORING PROHIBITED AREAS" inside the Berthing areas and shipping channels, which I have no problem with.

can anyone confirm if this is a no-no? or is it just the Port Authority being assholes?

Mobile Ali Welder- SOR

 Hey all,

I am after an ali welder for a job on my quintrex. The boat is currently upside down off the trailer so they would have to be able to come to me.

It is in a large workshop with power and possible access for a car if needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Located Hamilton Hill.

Coral Bay Fishing (Until Thursday)

Hi Peeps. My friend Lynda and I are in Coral Bay until Thursday (heading home Friday) our fishing charter for tomorrow got cancelled. Thankfully we got in one charter last week (photos below… not as sucfessful as I hoped). We tried to get a charter in Exmouth but all are booked too. Does anyone have any good spots around Coral Bay that are good for land based fishing and if so where and what sort of setup would you use. I brought a beach rod and a few flicky rods. Thanks everyone.
