T Curve rod Rust
Submitted by froos on Tue, 2016-09-13 21:27Went to fit a reel to my 8 month old T Curve and noticed rust at the base of the guides.
The rod has been used maybe four times & always washed on return, then sprayed with Inox.
Rang the shop were I purchased it from & they say it's quite common.
It has stainless steel guides, they look fine, it's only under the glass/binding.
My question is, is it common, is there a fix.

Cooler waters off the coast
Submitted by randall df223 on Tue, 2016-09-13 08:46I heard a weather man being interviewed yesterday on talk back radio. When asked about the cold temperatures we have experienced lately he responded they have been caused by the waters off our coast being up to 2° cooler, and our summer is likely to be cooler as well.
I assume this will at least impact the pelagics season. What other impacts do you think we'll see.

fin-nor lethal thoughts
Submitted by barcelona125 on Mon, 2016-09-12 18:36heys guys,
Having recently bought an overhead surf rod, i am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the fin-nor lethal ltc star drag, for use as an overhead surf caster ??
I have heard some pretty good reports on the internet but just wondering if anyone on here has used them before and what your thoughts are.
I am thinking of either the Fin-nor or an Avet, but have heard that the avets have a few problems, as well as the fin-nor being cheeper.
It will be going on a posieden bantam 13ft, thinking going for the ltc20 (the middle size) and loading it up with either 40lb or 50lb braid with the same poundage mono topshot. I am wanting it to be able to cast 6-8oz with a whole herring or whole tailer on it.
any thoughts/recomendations on the setup would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Nathan

whats you're go to multi tool and tackle storage?
Submitted by Dreamtime on Mon, 2016-09-12 16:22Hey guys, got two questions i need a little bit of advice with if anyone can help? Firstly, what's your favorite multi tool (jigging split ring pliers) with braid cutters that actually last and was curious if anyone knows if any have crimping teeth built in? Probably asking a bit much for one tool lol no pun intended... finally what's your favorite tackle storage system? Basically equipment consists of 7-10 spools of leader and dacron, usual tools and bits and bobs in a top pocket that's easily accessible and easy to keep organised (im an organization freak lol), about 70 jigs most ranging from 90-200 grams with a few bigger ones lurking in there up to 350 grams. Various types of lures(around 15-20) that mainly suit mackerel and tuna fishing from halco haymakers and yo zuri hydro magnums down to c-gars and a few metals. And always tried to break it down to three trays for hooks, connections(swivels, split rings, lumos, etc... i think that paints a decent picture to go buy so if anyone can help that would be epic. A lot of creative minds on here that always have time to help so thanks in advance for your help, Jimbo

Ningaloo or Warroora Station???
Submitted by Braxi on Sun, 2016-09-11 16:46G'day all,
Ive got my dad here for a couple of weeks and we were going to try take him somewhere new for a camp. I have got a 5m plate alloy boat that we would like to take down and launch off the beach to get outside the reef to see if we can get him onto some decent fish.
Just wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions regarding the access for launching a 5m boat from the shore/beach and the best fishing prospects?
Much appreciated in advance.
Thanks.

Fishing Albany
Submitted by Bodie on Sun, 2016-09-11 07:51hi everyone
We are looking at heading down to Albany for a few days during the ban so do a bit of south coast fishing. Have never been there before so hoping some of the FW locals have!
Chasing a bit of info on weather during October and early November, boat ramps, is the one near the port best to use with an 8m boat?
Are there places to hide from the weather in King George sound? And what's the fishing like?
Fishing out wide around the southern islands what's that like?
Are there things like King George in shallower? Much squid?
If we we out wider really looking to find some nannigui, as we have never really targeted them before.
Will also play in close to islands and exposed rocks and see if any yellow tail kings are about!
Any info from anyone who has been down that way would be greatly appreciated

Calamari Cup - Winners are Grinners
Submitted by Noxious on Sat, 2016-09-10 17:19G'day
Entered the Calamari Cup today with a couple of good mates.
The boys live north and had never fished the sound before today. Got out to my usual squid grounds in the sound, and we were greeted with some pretty dirty water - which never makes squidding easy. Got off to a decent start, but the squid were patchy, we would nail 3 or 4 in quick succession then patches of not much. Completely shut down at about 1030am. The boys nailed 3 really nice squid, one of which took out the biggest squid comp'. Ended up with 17 all up, but had to work pretty hard for them. Changing the jigs up, moving around and switching up techniques, anything to get the squids attention in the dirty water. On the way in we figured we had done alright considering the soup coloured water. We knew we were up against some pretty stiff competition so weren't counting any early chickens.
We ended up taking out the biggest squid division and the heaviest bag of 10 squid (The Calamari Cup)!
Team Swifty took out the heaviest bag. Boys, we will be back next year if you want a crack at the title? :)
All in all a good day out, and cheers to Weekend Hustlers for putting on the comp. Always good to get out there for a bit of competition, a few laughs with mates and a couple frothies at the end of it.
Boys On The Hoods 2016 Calamari Cup Winners.

Submitted by leeder.paul on Sat, 2016-09-10 11:45if i can get my boat over to rotto in a few weeks where would be the best place to fish say in a 1km radius around the island. I have a 4,5mtr dingy and probably wouldnt go further than that. Is it similar to Metro beaches or are there better alternatives for better fish?

Any advice for start of crayfishing season.?
Submitted by beeroclock on Fri, 2016-09-09 11:48Gonna have my first serious go at crayfishing off Mindarie this coming season. Just wondering how you guys find the season tends to start - is it usually a bit slow during that period from from 15th Oct leading up to the "run" of the whites? Im presuming its better to place pots on and inside the three mile before the white run rather than place them on the "ocean" side of the 3 mile is that about right? cheers for any advice
