The Wrase cull !
Submitted by MandurahMatt on Wed, 2013-12-04 21:39Do you buy or catch your cray bait? What do you use?
Ive been buying a few tuna heads and bulking up with Wrase. I'm starting to wonder if I'm fishing them out in some spots! It's starting to take more time and effort to get a few. Not sure if this a good or bad thing?

live bait tanks
Submitted by randall df223 on Wed, 2013-12-04 21:14I am thinking about a live bait tank... will be home made. Thinking some form of barrell, bigger than a 10 litre bucket, secured onto the transom flat and plumbed into the deckwash, or with its own pump, so the overflow goes straight out over the back of the boat... thoughts? Where would I find a suitable barrell? What have others improvised with?

Props to Bluewater Scarborough
Submitted by Noxious on Wed, 2013-12-04 19:56G'day
I'm not sure if this is allowed as I don't think they are a site sponsor, please remove if this is against the terms of use of this site.
Would just like to give a public thank you to the boys at Bluewater Scarborough. I recently put up a post that my Daiwa Monster Mesh had a reel seat that was twisting on me. The guys PM'd me and offered to take care of the warranty issues with the rod, even though I didn't purchase the rod through them. I dropped off my faulty rod and a couple weeks later had a brand new one in my hands.
Cheers guys, great service, went above and beyond.

Perth offshore pelagics
Submitted by fishing fanatic on Wed, 2013-12-04 18:08So im looking at going out to the fads on friday chasing dollies and seeing if any wahoo or tuna are around again. Has anyone been out recently and had any luck?
My main question though is marlin. What the easiest way to locate one? I want to dive with and film one very badly and have heard there has been a few around. Should i just jump in one bait balls? start a burley trail? troll for hours on a drop or current? what would be the most effective way of finding one you guys reckon?
Cheers, Jacques

Exmouth tackle advice please
Submitted by niloc1984 on Wed, 2013-12-04 17:58Hi guys.
Just after some advice on what tackle to start preparing for Exmouth
What lb line to use for the different types of fishing.
What Leader strength and length to use
What size and type hooks to use for bottom bashing
What size weights to take up there
Im heading up there in April and will be taking my 4.5m runabout. Im hoping to get out behind the reef and basically planning on trolling some lures around and then bottom bashing when the sounder gives me the OK.
I understand that there are good tackle stores up there and will be popping in to pick up bait and lures but also want to be as prepared as possible when I get there as ive never had the opportunity to get into the bigger fish around perth due to boat size.
Il be back closer to the date to see if anyone else is going to be there at the same time, always good to meet someone else keen on fishing
Thanks in advance

HELP "ROD" to match DAIWA SALTIST 4500H ?
Submitted by DhuBoi on Wed, 2013-12-04 17:23Hi fellow fishwreckers been a while since my last post been busy. Recently for my birthday the missus got me a Daiwa Saltist 4500H . Just curious if you people could give me some ideas on a rod to suit. I will be using it for snapper fishing and hitting the demersals. Probably rigging it up with 50lb braid Berkly Whiplash. Prefere a rod with a softer tip .
thank you in advanced . All suggestions welcome price range is 100-300 bucks .

App/ improvements
Submitted by Abz on Wed, 2013-12-04 14:14Hi all,
im sure everyone's enjoying and learning a lot through the fishwrecked website but I was wondering has there been any discussion on maybe developing an app which could greatly make things easy and taking part in discussions on the go would become much easier. Perhaps adding photos etc direct from your phone gallery and other such features. I would like to see this happen for fishwrecked and I think it would make it an even better forum.
what would you guys like to see improve or be added?
What are your thoughts regarding an app for fishwrecked?
for myself an app would make it much easier than having to use the google or safari browser whilst on the go.
Thanks

The Ban , too long ?
Submitted by Handi 1 on Wed, 2013-12-04 08:05Just want to know what the feelings out there are on the demersal ban . Are there too many species on the list ,timing that just puts too much pressure on the end being the 15th dec ,then all are chomping at the bit to get out there . Most people finishing work around that time thus putting maybe more pressure on not just the fish , ramps and fishers risking it in dodgy weather ? Something to get the tongues goin !

Shorter Fishing Tripod
Submitted by kknlk on Tue, 2013-12-03 11:43There's some who use tripods at places like Triggs but they typically are high so that you sit and fish. I was wondering about building one just about 1 metre high with a platform to stand on. Has anyone seen something like that? Just wondering about getting bowled over but if the waves just go past the legs on the bigger one there ought not to be a problem for a shorter one. What do you think?

Oceanside discount
Submitted by Super peg on Mon, 2013-12-02 18:39Few of you may of seen my previous post regarding discount at ocean side,
turns out I was visiting a completely different shop (quite a few times) which I believed it to be Oceanside, foolishly might I add.
so wish to clear up what I posted was in anger and was in fact at other store's service and the response I got.
My deepest apologies to Oceanside as this was on me, all me and it wasnt until I mentioned it to a friend he called me a dipshit and told me I'd has the wrong address all along.
Once again many apologies, to the staff at Oceanside
I think I'll actually visit the real Oceanside guys and conduct my business there ( this time making sure I'm actually in the right store)

FreeDiving Finns Help
Submitted by Fisher Kid on Mon, 2013-12-02 17:32hey guys,
im starting to get into spearfishing/gidgeeing and was wondering where was a good place to buy freediving fins in perth, im not looking for anything expensive as im only just starting it out for real (after snorkelling around for fun quite a lot).
I would rather not buy them on the net but if I have to that's ok. And im not really sure if I should get the open heel ones that u need wetsuit boots for or just the normal ones.
Thanks guys.
price range is pretty cheap but its because my grandparents want to buy me something for Christmas (100ish give or take a bit).

Mandurah crabs -- slowly but certainly
Submitted by crasny1 on Mon, 2013-12-02 09:51They're Here!!!
Yes slowly but certainly picking up. And the size ones are just sooo sweet.
Been out about three times in the last 4 weeks. Initially just a few small ones. Then increased to more small ones, sometimes up to 3-4 per pot.
Yesterday in 4 runs got at least 40 crabs caught, a few obviously small but the rate off measures has dramatically increased and even got a few to keep.
A couple of weeks should see them firing IMO.
