Jurien Bay
Submitted by jayce on Sat, 2012-03-10 16:41Hey all
I know its a real long shot but we are in jurien at the moment with the boat. We have searched for the last 2 days trying to find fish and only coming up with one size pinkie.
Would any one be able to point us in the right direction to find some fish. tomorrow is our last day so we just want to catch a few before we leave.
not asking for secret spots just a point in the right direction.
Cheers all.

S-Bend Report March 2012
Submitted by UncutTriggerInWA on Sat, 2012-03-10 12:28I took the opportunity to team up with Jasfishing (Jase), his Cuz Mark and his Dad Dave over the long weekend. We met at the Tenth Light Horse (they were only 3 hours late!) and headed up up to the S-Bend. The trip was pretty cruisy for a long weekend and we arrived in time to knock a few beers over, pitch the tents etc. and go for a fish.
The first evening we hit Lucy's in perfect conditions.
The Tailor ran on Dusk but the size was a bit disappointing but made for good slabs for bait later.
Dave was wrapped. First fish in 40 years he recons. I recon it's his first fish ever!LOL
This is the time when I secretly swear at my wife. She had taken the memory card out of my camera so that's it!!!! LOL. Dave gathered heaps of pictures over the weekend so I must get in touch and get hold of some copies.
Anyway, we fished Lucy's again with little success other than a nice size Wobby. Pricks of things to skin. Guess who got that job......
Next day we cruised around with me playing tour guide. We ended up at Secret Men's Business where a fishing club had a comp and you couldn't see the ocean for rods LOL. The guys were excited. We headed across country and eventually found the Walkaway Pub. No power but the beer was cold and the gas burners were working. Now replenished we headed back to camp and the guys disappeared down the beach for some more action. Not a lot on offfer other than some soapie Mulloways - released. There were few decent Mulloway landed around 80cms and heaps of Tailor of varying sizes appeared on the cleaning table.
We were all too buggered on Monday morning so we slowly packed up the camp and headed back home.
All in all had a great time with great company. Lot's of laughs and plenty of beers consumed (not to mention the bottle of scotch). Dave cracked his first Tailor, Jase caught his first Tailor on Popper (first cast with new stick!!!!!!) and Mark continued his good form catching absolutely NOTHING LOL.
Thanks for the company guys.

Keeping/storing crays
Submitted by Paul H on Sat, 2012-03-10 08:19Hi all,
Have just regitered a cray pot and heading over to Streaky and Smoky Bay in April.
Was just after a few tips in storing crays both short term for a few days and longer to bring back a few as well.
How long can you keep them in a wet hessian bag or any other suggestions and whats the best way of keeping them longer term i.e. a few weeks to a month (cook them before freezing or freeze raw/cook later etc ).
Anyone cook them on a BBQ grill??
Cheers Paul

Broken rod exchange
Submitted by Wes F on Thu, 2012-03-08 21:12Was out fishing a few weeks ago and managed to snap my 3.0m med/heavy ugly stick. It broken on the female section right were the male part stopped. took it back to the shop I bought it from (no docket) was purchased with a gift voucher. Explained to the manager how it broke in the act of casting a tailor rig with a medium size star sinker. Was pretty much told no way possible and that I must have got it stuck in door or it was run over. After waiting a couple of weeks for the rep for rod company to have a look, he said the rod broke from misuse and not covered by warranty. After a long chat with the store manager (cut a long story) he agreed to exchange rod. He didn't want a dissatisfied customer and any possible bad publicity. So to Micheal at BCF in Cannington thank you. There are still customers out there who aren't bullshitting and some times rods fail just because a rep hasn't seen it before doesn't mean it can't happen. Now I've got a 3.6m ugly stick Don't make the 3,0m's anymore I wonder why?

Busselton Boat fishing
Submitted by gibbs on Thu, 2012-03-08 19:04Gday, taking the wife and kids camping in Busso in a fortnight and will be taking the boat. Never been off shore fishing in Busselton so just looking for some advice as to what species to target, where to launch etc. I hear of this 8 mile reef, is that any good for some fishing or does it get hammered, also is it worth a troll at all?
Thanks

looking to do some night fishing!!!
Submitted by dave1988 on Thu, 2012-03-08 18:11hi guys was wondering if i could pick your brains and get a bit of advice about some good places to do a bit of night fishing????
ive been here in WA for about 18months and have got the bug hard!! ive been south to esperance, denmark and been north to kalbarri and done really well fishing. but haven't had much look metro fishing just the usual herring and tailor.
so ive decided to put in some hours night fishing (would love to catch my first shark or mulloway)....only thing is i dont really no much about the beaches around here, i live near hillarys so was thinking bout maybe trying some of the beaches north of here between mindarie and two rocks maybe? but i dont mind going south if its better there.
i have a nissan xtrail which isnt really a hardcore off roader but can go on the beach if it isnt too bad + i will probz be on my own as i dont really have anyone to go with.
also i have some balloning gear so would like to give that a go, bought it for kalbarri but the winds were againt me!
also if anyones planning there own night fish and wouldnt mind a tag along i would love to join..........cheers dave.
