Cyclone Pancho movements
Submitted by Colin Hay on Wed, 2008-03-26 10:20This is the latest information courtesy of BOM.
Pancho is expected to intensify in the next 30 hours and begin to weaken at about 60 hours as the system begins to move over cooler SSTs and then encounters increasing NW shear south of 20S.
There are some suggestions it may track down towards Perth.

Fish smokers
Submitted by Colin Hay on Wed, 2008-03-26 09:15I have seen a few of fish smokers advertised by major chain stores recently.
Has anyone had any experience with them? Do they work okay? Are they easy to use?
I am wondering if they are worth giving a try.
All the best Colin Hay

BUMP - Fishwrecked Comp??
Submitted by PilbaraBrad on Tue, 2008-03-25 19:22Just thought i would bump this one to the top again. Keep people thinking about it
Hey Adam and Andy. Would you ever consider organising a fishwrecked comp away from Perth (perhaps up north around exy) that all members were invited to that went for a couple of days or something. It seems every man and his dog on this website travels to exmouth just about every year could try and tie it in so that the metro boys could come up and camp if they wanted to and us boys could come down. I know it would be hard to organise but it wouldn't have to be anything too serious, like an AGM i guess. Only with more beer!

Buff Bream
Submitted by Leemo on Tue, 2008-03-25 13:26i was talking to two women and they said that they were at the north mole on friday night and some guy made a big commotion as he thought he had caught a pink snapper. but when she went over to see it, he pulled out a monstrous buff bream. he had alredy called his mate and told him to fire up the barbie for snapper so he had to call his mate up and tell him the embarrasing news.
apparently buffies arnt that b ad if u bleed and gut em dtraight away and then soak the fillets in milk to take away the toxins. im still not so keen on buff bream as a table fish though

Monday Fishing
Submitted by carassius on Tue, 2008-03-25 05:35Well hit Cockburn again, all small stuff (p-lenty of bait!) with yellowtail & slimy macks making most of the mix. We did catch 6 snapper, all squires about 15cm & about dozen chopper but once again all undersize bout 20cm.
Planning a trip to two rocks this weekend, I'm in a 15ft glass 1/2 cabin with a 60HP, never fished off their before, anybody got any suggestions on what I should look for in weather conditions this week or general safety tips? Plannin on being out early/in early to beat the doctor, value any advice.
Cheers

Fisherman saved by stranger off Albany coast
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2008-03-24 16:36A CANADIAN tourist is believed drowned and another man has been saved in separate incidents near Albany.
At 1pm yesterday, the tourist, 23, fell into the sea at Caves Point Blowholes. Rescuers were still searching for his body last night. On Friday, a man was rescued from treacherous seas by two strangers and a flotation device. The 29-year-old man was swept into the water while fishing from rocks at Salmon Holes at 5.20pm. P
assersby attempted to help by throwing him a life buoy. But when the buoy drifted away, Albany man Reynold Williams, 19, jumped in and passed it to the flailing man. Ball-shaped buoys were installed at the popular fishing spot after Nathan Drew, 15, drowned there in September 2003.
Lareena Woods, the sister of Mr Williams' girlfriend, also jumped in to help the man. "He was about 200m from the rocks. I brought him in a fair way, but I had to let him go because I was getting dunked and worn out myself,'' she said. The man suffered mild hypothermia and shock and was taken to Albany Regional Hospital. Mr Williams was treated for water in his lungs.

New WA Fisho
Submitted by carassius on Sat, 2008-03-22 16:39Hey everyone, I'm only new to Perth & am looking for some help with fishing locations, I have a 15ft 1/2 cab cruiser & chasing that elusive KG (I'm told it's one of, if not THE, best eating fish??) & pinkies. Currently trying my luck in the sound hitting the sand patches amongst the weed, but only managed to find yellow whiting. I often hear/read refernce to The Windmills & Parmelia Bank with no idea on what or where they are...any advice?
