talking about luck
Submitted by david.d on Fri, 2013-08-02 19:52Just wondering if any of you fellow members have ever dropped your rod and reel overboard. I only ask because today i almost lost me z40 and samaki jig stick to davey jones. I had the butt of the rod tangled in my jacket and got a big strike due to the force and being tangled in my jacket with possibly a bit of uncoordination thrown in the mix the rod pulled straight out of my hands and into the drink. Fortunately i was able to dive over the side of the boat submerging half my body and catch the rod about a metre or more down saving me combo. Bought a lotto ticket tonight after luck like that. cheers guys and girls

Not a bad day
Submitted by Chewy88 on Thu, 2013-08-01 19:24Recently becoming aware of egi clips for easy squid jig change overs I headed to oceanside tackle to grab a pack and a few other bits and pieces, and after geting top notch service from blake and ryan who showed me some new knots and helpful advice, I was off to south mole to try my luck and bang first cast first squid. Hooked a couple more but one got off and the other released due to size so only one for the day but good enough to put a smile on my face. Only bad thing of the day was losing my breaden 3.5 deep jig so gonna have to get a few more i think.

coral bay to exmouth
Submitted by troopie87 on Thu, 2013-08-01 19:22Hey. Im doing a trip up to exmouth in a couple of months with my girlfriend and her cousin from germany. I have been to exmouth quite a few times now and have always wanted to drive the track from coral bay to yardie creek but have never got around to it. Im taking my 4.3 tinny up and was wondering what it would be like towing it on this track. Ive heard its pretty tame but just wanted to hear from anyone else that has done it before. I have a 100 series landcruiser with a lift.
Cheers![]()

Stella 2013 vs 2008
Submitted by thedw on Thu, 2013-08-01 18:45well honestly im just disappointed that the new stella does not live up to expectations!
However Im sufffering from a case of info overload...
I cant decide on whether to get the 2008 model or 2013 model
Im looking at using the reel for popping and stickbaiting.
For me its either a
Stella 2008 10 000 XG with a Studio Ocean Mark 16000 Spool
or
Stella 2013 14000 XG
gonna load PE 6.
What would you guys advice me to get?
for me cost is not an issue.
However Im leaning towards the 2008 stella. as the massive free play in the 2013 as well as its staggering weight is putting me off. But i do like the further casting distance and smoother drag of the 2013.
advice??
thks!
oh and do check out the stella 2008 and 2013 reviews on alan hawks website!
alanhawk.com ! super indepth reviews!

Stockton Lake in Collie - worth bringing a rod?
Submitted by Grumpysmurf on Thu, 2013-08-01 11:53Thinking of spending some time camping on Lake Stockton in Collie. Will be bringing the boat and ski biscuits.
As it is an artificial lake and ex coal mine site, it is apparently acidic. Is it worth bringing a fishing rod along? What living thing may be in there that doesn't have 3 eyes?

Submitted by Anytime Brad on Wed, 2013-07-31 17:06Hi all, just seen in a deckie post that the beach at Seabird has gone and since i am thinking of taking the boat up to Lancilin this Saturday so wondered if the beach was still ok for a launch up there. Launch there plenty of times in the summer but not at this time of the year. Also what depths are you all fishing out from the northen ramps?

Exmouth/Shark Bay with Tinny
Submitted by elliotbirch on Wed, 2013-07-31 15:17Hey guys,
I know that there are a lot of posts about these two places and people wanting advice, I've searched a lot but none of them have quite answered what I wanted! I have the first week of September off (actually oct 30-sept7) and have the chance to head off on the fishing/exploring trip up north and am wondering whether we should go to exmouth or shark bay? We will have access to a new-ish tinny with a 30hp engine to take up with us if we want as well, but we aren't all that confident to head off too wide in the tinny haha. So just wondering on which place you guys would think would be better that time of year? We will be doing a lot of land based fishing as well!!
Cheers for your help in advance!
