sea search and rescue groups
Submitted by petermac on Fri, 2013-07-19 19:27After reading Icemans post about a mayday and the dick they set out to rescue with the water coppers it might be a crazy idea but I think these vollys should be paid along the same lines as the army reservists are paid .They risk their lives and take the pressure of already over stretched resources like the navy (always out saving refo boats) and water coppers

Car topper Dingi`s
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2013-07-19 15:55Gday Crew,
I`ve got a WB Dory that has served me well up until now but am thinking about down sizing to something that can be roof topped... Those that have them what are the go? I want as big as possible without loosing the ability to drag up n down a beach and load/unload easily... Would you buy again what you own now or have you spotted something better on the market...

knot for wind on leader.
Submitted by bulkie on Thu, 2013-07-18 15:54Howdy all,
I'd normally do a bimini to gt or fg for wind on if I'm tying from braid. I'm thinking of putting 100 metres of 50lb mono topshot now before the 100lb wind on.
What knots should I be looking at without hurting the rod guide?
Cheers

Kooljaman Cape Leveque beach fishing
Submitted by CosmosBlue on Thu, 2013-07-18 15:33Hi all,
I am heading up to Broome and Cape Leveque next week, staying at Kooljaman.
I'm not taking a boat, so will be focussed on beach fishing. Has anyone been up there lately? Much success off the beach? I plan on stocking up on tackle in Perth before heading up there, should I focus on slices, poppers etc?
I will put up any good fish photos once I get back.
Cheers.

Crayfish help
Submitted by br3nno on Thu, 2013-07-18 01:19 Hello im a big noob when it comes to crayfish fishing. Im interested in catching them via hand or pole. I cant dive so anything deeper than 4m is a no go.
When i go snorkelling at mettams pool and i go to the outer reef i think i can hear them, is that common? Is it legal to catch them there?
So pretty much any tips are much appreciated and general direction(not asking for spots). Cheers

Koala gps....Fail!!
Submitted by timboon on Wed, 2013-07-17 18:00G'day crew,
I Thought I`d let you guys know of my experience buying OS to save some dollars that ended up biting me.
I ordered a Furuno 627 on the 6th of May thinking I had plenty of time to receive and fit the Unit before leaving to Warroora on 27th of June...
Long story short, It still hasn`t arrived...
Spoke to the main man ( Scott ) at Koala 2 weeks before we were heading north and that gave me some confidence as he said he`d to what he could to fast track it....
10.5 weeks later and still nothing...
It wasn`t a show stopper at Warroora, still caught a feed but that's not the point...
Anyway that's my whinge for the day, I know I`ll cop the shop local blurt but saving 3-400 bucks should have been worth it...

Fishing Deep from Dawesville / Mandurah
Submitted by waytogo on Wed, 2013-07-17 13:16Is there anyone out there that is interested in some Blue eye and Hapuka Fishing from Dawesville. I have a 34 Randell but lack a crew that's interested in throwing in for some fuel and heading out to the shelf.
Bit much for a single person to be doing.
Have just come back from Mackay Qld after 3 years and brought the boat March this year.
Spent 25 years in Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour and done a lot of Game fishing and shelf bottom fishing there with heaps of good fish over the years. Lived in Geraldton for couple years fished the Abrohlos and around Ningaloo, Yardi Creek.
Anyway, anyone interested ??? and even taking a couple of boats out would be good
I am currently on leave (have been since Feb, hard life !!!!) as I work in the Civil/ mining industry and can fish through the week if anyone else is in the same boat ( pun)

redfin
Submitted by harropino on Wed, 2013-07-17 09:51Hi all, thinking of hitting up some rivers/dams in the southwest for some redfin. As I normally fish Ocean/ Estuary I don't know much about freshwater fishing but while the weather is shite I might give it a go, just want to know if its worth it this time of year and what lures you freshwater anglers are using? Im guessing bug type lures and even my bream lures would produce fish? any advice welcome

Submitted by CURT on Tue, 2013-07-16 14:53Snappa time! Could be too hectic to even get a line in the water tonight, but I was wondering.. Do they normally close south mole in these conditions as well as north, or could it be open tonight.

Chasing GT's (hopefully)
Submitted by ZongZong on Tue, 2013-07-16 11:09Hi all, heading up north for my first time (new to WA so a valid excuse) going to be staying at warroora station with the boat. Hoping to get stuck into some GT's while I'm there so firstly is there any good GT fishing in this area or atleast close enough to access with the boat or am I going to be dissapointed? And then the obvious questions which I'm sure have been asked a million times on here before, The tackle? I'm looking at a saragosa 10000 if people consider this big enough so i can still get use out of it down south, if not then the 14000, spooled with 60-80lb braid with 120-150lb leader and matching it with a shimano terez 6'9 40-100lb. Peoples thoughts on that? Like the look of these roads and thought it might be short enough to still use in the boat for bottom fishing, trolling and maybe a bit of jigging. So my price range is around $600 all up. And if people wanna throw what poppers/stick baits have been getting results up north then good on ya.
