What is with littering.
Submitted by beachsoul on Sat, 2013-03-16 04:05I cannot believe that some people think that is acceptable to go to any place on earth and leave rubbish behind.
Most of our fishing spots are beautiful scenic locations but they are getting trashed by pigs leaving litter behind. I nearly always pick up some rubbish but i find it sooooo disheartening to think that other pricks just throw their rubbish away.......how hard is it to take it home.
I can never understand how people can litter.....were their parents dirty dogs too.....were'nt they educated about right and wrong
You are going somewhere lovely to escape from the world and enjoy some fishing and fun would,nt you like to leave it nice not strewn in empty stubbies, discarded fishing line and dead blowfish.
Im sure all fishwrecked members are innocent......... where the F=+k do these clowns come from.

New WA Record Blue Weighed
Submitted by dodgy on Thu, 2013-03-14 21:48Just been weighed this evening in Exmouth at Gamex.
As reported on EGFC facebook page....
NEW STATE RECORD BLUE MARLIN!!! Congrats to Mark McKay and all the crew on Blue Horizon for their pending new state all tackle record Blue Marlin which weighed 354.5kg on 60kg line (the previous record was 330.1kg). Poor Peter Anderton has the job of filleting this one again after the earlier 200kg fish. Again all of this fish is being trucked to Perth to feed the homeless

Boat fishing novice... Gear advice please
Submitted by Mattb123 on Thu, 2013-03-14 21:25G'day all. So I'm a beach fisher and only occasionally get out in a boat and when I do it is a whiting session with my dad and his mates.
I've decided to get out in the boat a bit more and also am likely to take it to dongara in a month or so for a week camping with my own kids.
truth be told I'm flummoxed at what gear I should be buying to target your basic bottom species.
I decided after research here and other to pick up a TLD25 combo like the $199 special at Campbell's online, but when I went in to store the guy tried to steer me to jigging setup. He was a top bloke and I've no doubt jigging is fun but looking at $450+ for a combo was a tad heavy for me. the only boat suitable gear I have is a shimano jewel/stradic2500 combo I got from compleat in neddies a few years back for soft placcies off the beach in coral bay (v. Unsuccessful btw). And it makes a nice bream set up etc in the river and skippy off the boat. The heavier spool has 20lb braid.
so questions for you kind people.
i) basic bottom fishing combo... What would you get... Be specific or just talk type of rod. O/h or spin? This is where the tld combo was my choice but guy at Campbell's clearly felt clunking a heavy rig over the bottom was a bit Neanderthal
ii) soft plastic bottom setup. Same as above or different. Would my current set up cope or am I headed for all kinds of trouble if a real fish took an interest.
iii) jigging... This may be 2nd hand... But what is a decent combo. Links to articles ok.

there are just so many bloody options out there god dammit lol.
lastly, if I wanted to try a bit of trolling I assume the tld combo would do the job no?
thanks in advance... As I say boat fishing novice and not enough $$$ to make a mistake in the purchase. We are talking quality entry level btw... No $600 reels it ain't going to happen.

Question for the kayakers
Submitted by Versus on Wed, 2013-03-13 21:24got an old kayak sitting around that doesnt get much use, wondering what the easiest/cheapest option is for putting a rod holder on it? Even if its just a piece of pvc pipe attached somehow, just want to paddle around the river a bit.
Also if anyone has some kayak roof-rack fittings lying around that they want to sell let me know.

Tough Choices
Submitted by Ash06 on Wed, 2013-03-13 19:49Hi Guys
2 days ago i asked for you opinion regarding quobba fishing over summer and i got 2 pretty conclusive view points. 1 was to go i may-august, the other was november. Ive got a chalet on hold for end of july that i booked today, i was just wondering if people had gone this late into the 'ballooning' season. the trip is for for my mate as a bucks trip and i'd like to give him the best odd's of catching some decent fish as unfortunately our last trip (sept 2012) was a complete flop. Im just looking at people opinions of our booking compared to possibly changing it to november. I'd love to hear from anyone that has been during any of these times.
Cheers
Ash

ELECTRONICS GURUS - HELP REQUIRED (PLEASE)
Submitted by Septimus on Wed, 2013-03-13 18:46Hello All,
Has anyone successfully connected (via NMEA0183) a FCV-1150 to any other name brand plotter (specifically in my case a NSE-12) such that it's possible to "mark" a waypoint on the FCV-1150 and that waypoint to be automatically transferred to the plotter?
I've managed to get GPS data (from NSE-12) to FCV-1150, so that now when I mark a point on the FCV-1150, the co-ordinates are stored and displayed on the FCV-1150 BUT the waypoint does NOT appear on the NSE-12.
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
