Wanted - bail arm for Shakespeare 2430 threadline
Submitted by makai on Sat, 2012-06-30 20:11Hi guys, I am chasing a bail arm (complete setup) for an old Shakepeare 2430 threadline (a blue/grey model). The reel would be 25-30yrs old, but was a great reel in its day, and I would like to pass it onto my fishing mad 9yr old daughter. Happy to pay cash or beer. Please PM me if you happen to have a bail arm setup or dead reel in your shed.

Rottnest ideas?
Submitted by randall df223 on Sat, 2012-06-30 16:17I am planning a couple of days fishing around Rotto with my young bloke over the school holidays. Plan is to leave Hillarys early, fish between Hillarys and Rotto. Camp overnight on boat in Thompson Bay. Fish again all the next day. Perhaps stay a second night if weather is good and then back to Hillarys.
I'm thinking some suiding as we depart Hillarys. Some KGW, sandies and skippy on the way across. Once we are there we have KGW, herring, gardie options in / near Thompson Bay, some bottom bouncing around Duffield Ridge and on the northern side as well.
What about trolling for tuna, are they still around? Or too cold now?
Also would like to try some jigging for sambos. Any one recommend some sambo spots?

what can we do to stop People over fishing
Submitted by Terry Du87 on Fri, 2012-06-29 23:51Just get shocked today, when i went to Claremont jetty, there is a gorup of people crabing there, they set just damn a lot crab trap on all the piles of the jetty. each pile has two trap, totally around 30 crab traps. What the hell is that, can you imaging that a jetty with around 30 crab traps.... just wandering is it legal to do that, even it is legal, i think it is damn unethical to do that.
Last year, I often fishing in Mosman park, once I saw a woman, set around 5-8 traps around jetty, and caught 2 large bags of crab. then, a boat came, took all her crabs, then gone. This woman continued crabing like just come with nothing caught. !!!!!!
Few weeks ago, I went to woodman point fishing, ( the south the wmp, rock area), when the sunset coming, some people keep coming, and started to take tailor, just around 1 hour till I go, each person caught around 5-10 tailors, ( the law states that 50cm size only can keep 2 I think ), most of them are over bag limit I think.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I am here wandering what can we do to stop those people over fishing.

2012 Carnarfin Horse!
Submitted by Trueblue3 on Fri, 2012-06-29 17:25G'day everyone,
Thought It was about time I upload something from my recent trip to Carnarvon for the fishing Comp.
Report still to come, But i thought you would enjoy this little story.
Headed out on the Seafox 257 to Bernie Island, Trolling somewere "near" The Gap, my Rovex Overhead with 70lb Line starts screaming off...Stop the boat and straight into reverse.
5 odd mins of fighting and Dan (fellow FW member - Dkonig82) Calls out Monster Wahoo.. Sure enough got the horse on the deck and its a monster...
Official weight at the weigh in was 31.8kg (Gilled and gutted)
Totally destroyed my Rapala Xrap.

Preferred tow point on pirates
Submitted by dumper on Fri, 2012-06-29 13:40Just wondering which tow points people prefer while using the pirates for demersals? I've had more success tying onto the skinny end, but the daiwa website says the middle eye for demersal. Your thoughts?

Fishing / camping Walpole?
Submitted by randall df223 on Thu, 2012-06-28 17:39Thinking of a week in Walpole after New Year. I understand there are two caravan parks, Rest Point and Coalmine Beach? Which is best for a powered site and access to fishing areas by boat? Anything special to fish for at that time of the year? I have read some books and mags, KGW, skippy, herring, bream, flathead inside? Outside? Will there be any tuna about at that time of the year for trolling or should I think about bottom bouncing or jigging? What is the wind and the river mouth like during January?

Not a good sign for our river systems these guys getting in. Could be some interesting fishing though. Would be good to catch a "wild" golden and silver perch in WA.
