IGFA records
Submitted by mulloway_hunter on Sat, 2012-03-03 17:45hey was just wondering if anyone could point us in the right direction or tell us the specifications that you need to have a fish capture to be worthy of being accepted into the igfa record books
i.e can braid be used for an igfa title
leader length(does that include a wind on)
how do you prove that the fish's lenghth and weight
any help would be appreciated

daiwa freams 4000 or other?
Submitted by snoz on Sat, 2012-03-03 09:19I just picked up a berkley dropshot gen3 8-12kg very cheap and it now needs a new reel. I have a seido 4000 matched to a 6-8kg dropshot with an unloaded spare spool and some 30lb braid lying around however was looking for something a little bigger to balance the rod. The seido is just too light imo.
I have my eye on the Daiwa Freams 4000. Is this appropriate for demersal plastics fishing/lights jigging with octo jigs and light frankys etc? Will the zion body stand up to the task or is a full metal reel a better option?

Land Based Spinning Query?
Submitted by Albee Mangles on Fri, 2012-03-02 22:32Guys i have a new LB spin rod coming 10-20kg, one of the new Nitro Rods Rockstars, a 10'. Ive teamed this up with a Catalina 4500H, and i am chasing some setup info, as LB spinning for big fish is pretty new to me.
What knot do you use to tie on your leader, i'd prefer to avoid bimini's if possible, and what length , and weight leader do you normally use.
I'm heading to Exmouth and plan on using it there and suring my other northern trips during the year.

shark fishing land based
Submitted by jase on Fri, 2012-03-02 19:09Better to go for sharks at night or day landbased? Or is it all to do with the tides? Going to be high tide around sunset this weekend around bunbury. Any tips would be great. Not looking for anything massive just some gummy's or something around the 1 metre or 1.5 metre mark.

mixed bag
Submitted by uncle on Fri, 2012-03-02 17:17My son Paul and I left mindarie at 8am, blowing shit bag easterly, trolled for 90 mins, water temp, down to 23.7,no signs of bait schools, plenty of weed, went into the reef, put the pick down so we were in 14 metres, started the berly,we caught and released 3 sambos,I then had a screamer of a run and I'm thinking single hook mono trace this will only end one way but I was wrong, caught a nice spotty mack 90 cm long, cast back out and paul gets a nice pinky on a single hook 86 cm, had a few near misses, masses of ytks in the berly but that was all they would eat, resumed trolling and only caught 3 bonito which were released, hope everyone has a good time on the long weekend

Which braid is best?
Submitted by reddo_crothers on Fri, 2012-03-02 17:07Hey guys,
I have recently put a Shimano T-Curve and Daiwa Oceano on lay by. The rod is 20-30lb and i want to run 25-30 lb braid on it.
Im very new to braid fishing and dont have much of an idea on what would be some of the more reliable brands.
I've looked at Power Pro and Sufix so far, but any reccomendations would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

light jigging / bottom bashing reel
Submitted by roganjosh on Fri, 2012-03-02 13:22Hi Everyone,
I am sure this may have been discussed before, so if there already is a post i appologise.
I am after a light jigging / bottom bashing spin reel that will suit 20-30lb braid. Fishing mosting around the Busselton area in WA
I know a lot might say stella 4000/5000 but this is out of my range.
Certate 3500HD I would luv but i might be pushing my luck with the minister of finances.
Is there any other recommendations eg :
Caldia Kix
Sol 4000
Biomaster SW
Sustain
Stradic
any advice would help

New Dhufish record....NOT !
Submitted by Spicey on Fri, 2012-03-02 10:28Checked 6pr site only to find the same photo that was being shown around a couple of weeks ago. This guy is really getting some milage out of a photo that makes the fish look big. Another site hade previously confirmed the fish was about 18 kg.
I guess we will have to wait to see the State Record be officially broken another day if at all.

Trolling Tips
Submitted by Tankisnowfishing on Thu, 2012-03-01 17:43Hi all
Finally getting my sealegs and going to venture outs towards Rotto over the weekend. Never done much trolling, but just went out and bought a couple of lures to give it a go.
I would like a couple of tips such a speed range to troll at etc.
Currently looking at around West End, probably won't make it out to the fads till i've had some more experience. Boguht a Xrap and another cheaper brand to give it a go.
Cheers for any forth coming tips.
Cheers guys

8' Spin Rod for Lures
Submitted by Daniel Y on Thu, 2012-03-01 17:39Any recomendations for an approx 8' spin rod? Mainly for lure casting, sps, stick baits medium poppersetc on the flats up north and off the rocks around town and down south. Gonna be matched up to a stella 4000 mainly, probably running pe2, 35lb. Ideally around 4-8kg, maybe a little heavier.
Price range around $200-300, a bit flexible though.
Thoughts?

Where does everyone buy their bait?
Submitted by BigClarky on Thu, 2012-03-01 14:06G'day Guys,
not sure if this topic has been covered, but I was curious to know where everyone prefers to buy there bait from?
I ask, because I am chasing quality whole occy. I feel the general run of the mill stuff I purchase from the normal shops isnt that great. Obviously the ideal situation is to go and catch it yourself, but we all know that sometime time doesnt permit.
Any thoughts?
Clarky
