Rod Holders

Hi All,

I am interested in buying some new rod holders for my boat. The ones that strike my fancy are the ones the guys on "Adventure Bound" on Channel 44, West TV use. They're stainless steel that lay the rods on a more horizontal plane and spread the lines if using more than one line on each side. I already have a rod holder on each side of my boat but I don't like to use them as the line sits too close to the dive ladder and I'm always worried that the line will break when and if it rubs. I'd like to get new ones that just plug into the existing rod holders as I don't want to drill new holes in the fibreglass. I have seen some on Ebay but I'd like to buy locally as I want to see what they look like and if they'll fit before committing to the purchase.

Does anyone know where they're made and sold and how much they go for, preferably South Metro Perth as I live in Kwinana?

Cheers,

Ken

Flathead ID and info please

Caught this flattie while tossing plastics around yesterday.

Ive been fishing in Carnarvon for a fair while and haven’t seen one anywhere near as big as this before. I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s big for the species (I believe it’s a bartail that we get around here, but am happy to be corrected if ive got that wrong?) or just for this region?

I think the Carnarfin record is 1.27kg (gutted and gilled) and this one went 60cm and 1.55kg g+g’d… obviously I caught it at the wrong time of year, but I guess it gives some idea that it’s a good fish for around this area?

Cheers for the input guys

Want a Whiting rod

 Hey all.

I grew up catching King george whiting off the beach down in rocking ham and i always loved the fight and also the great taste of them. I have since caught some off the boat and know of a couple of spots where you can caught the bigger ones 40cm+ size.

So my question is i need a rod to suit my Stradic 3000fi with 10lb braid. I will be using some decent amounts of lead but i also want to be able to flick small baits around as well.

I have a budget of 200 dollars but i would prefer to spend under 150 dollars and get have a length of around 7ft and 2pce.. I live NOR so i'm looking for a rod that is in a NOR tackle store.

Cheers danno

Going a bit crazyyy!

Anyone else going a bit crazy being stuck at home in this weather?! Can't get out to work, and can't get out fishing!!! Might be looking at a week straight off work depending on the next few days. Would find it hard picking between work and fishing when the weather clears up though, haha.. been a while since getting on the water!

So what have people been doing to pass the time? I hate to admit it... but I did some sewing......... haha. Made up some elastic spool covers for my reels. Finally can keep that line and leader under control when storing my reels!

Kimberley Fishing

Anglers wanted - plastic and jig charter with Whitey on 28 August

I am chasing some anglers for a soft plastic and jigging charter with Whitey of Seasport charters in Jurien Bay.

If you are not familiar with the boat, do a search on here and see the dozens of great reports.

Hoping to get some dhuies etc first, then move on to the sambos for a bit of a stretch.

I have booked for 28 August.

I am going to pay up front for the whole boat, so there will only be 8 on the boat. Cost will be $250 per person including lunch etc.

Should have around 4 slots free, so anybody who is keen please send me a PM.

Will need a 50% deposit to hold a spot, as I am paying up front for everyone and cant have people pulling out last minute. Deposit obviously refunded if trip is called off due to weather.

Cheers

Dan

old farts style v technology

when would you rather have started your fishing career, back when there was no GPS, only paper sounders, no braid etc, but there was lots more fish, or now with all the high tech gizmos, braid, super boats and sounders that can see a sardine on the bottom at 50m. Don't get me wrong luv all the electrics and gear around today but my take is that nowadays you need all the high tech stuff to catch fish. we used to head s/w from mack. islands steer a compass bearing and find the spot 20 miles away, but boy there was heaps when you got there, you could allways find your way home, just look for the smoke from trevenard. On the plus side there was a lot less sharks around in those days. mind you know one fished 300m or deeper

Underwater LED lighting

Guys,

Looking at getting some underwater LED's for the back of the Stabi. No particular reason outside of something "pretty" to light up the water at anchor or night when coming home. Bit of Bling really.

Anyone know much about them at all?

Cheers

Just borrowed a 10 barra punt with a seagull motor off a mate and was going to go out to the three mile and catch a couple of pinkies. Can anyone give me the heads up on where they are biting lately and if the seagull tank of fuel will get me out and back or will i need a jerry can. Also how accurate is seabreeze been lately?I would hate to get caught in some nasty weather while at anchor.

Cockburn Sound Pink Snapper

Hey,

Me and my dad have been trying time and again to get some pinkies from the cockburn sound but with no luck. We have tried garden island, the pinnacles and the D9, Day and Night. We use 2 snelled 6/0 hooks on 60lb leader with a running ball/bean sinker. We dont know what we're doing wrong. Advice and spots would be greatly appreciated.

cheers matt

Eupro " Pirate Style " Demersal Jigs - 110g/140g - FW Special

Theres no doubt the next step in demersal jigging is the "Pirate style" jig. The twin action of the jig and the occy skirt definately entices the bite from all species like snapper/dhufish/baldchin/breaksea cod etc.

We have just received a descent stock order of these popular jigs and we have used them with great success.

The size range and sharp price makes these jigs a winner.

Eupro Marugo Namari Jig;

110g & 140g

Strong twin hooks/nice prism finish/heavy duty occy skirt and x1 extra replace skirt also supplied.

Oops, it's a $1,000,000 prang... Blonde crashes her Bentley into a Merc, Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin

When in Monte Carlo, everything is done in style. And that includes crashing your car.

This was the moment when a woman driver caused a $1,000,000 five-car pile-up as her Bentley  collided with a Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin.

Disaster struck as the hapless blonde negotiated the traffic around the Place du Casino in her $370,000 Bentley Azure.

The driver of a white Mercedes S Class worth $111,000 was the first victim as the 2.7 tonne Bentley scraped down the side of it before ploughing into a $207,000 black Ferrari F430.

Hope you're insured, madam: A policeman tries to sort out the chaos beside Monte Carlo's Place du Casino

An Aston Martin Rapide worth $207,000 and an $118,000 Porsche 911 also came a cropper. The driver and her two passengers then suffered the embarrassment of being surrounded by tourists as they were unable to open the doors of the convertible.

It is estimated the crash will cost more than $60,000 with the Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin requiring new front wings and bumpers. The Bentley will need the same repairs, plus a new door.

Ruud Poot, editor of European motoring website Autogespot, said: 'You probably couldn't find a worse place in the world to crash your car than outside Monaco's Place du Casino in the middle of the summer.'

A staggering $1,000,000 worth of cars were shunted in a matter of minutes - enough to make the Top Gear boys wince in pain and criticise who caused the incident.

There is a happy ending though, of sorts.Despite the fact her 2.7 tonne Bentley bingle involved more than $1m worth of luxury machinery, the cost of repairs is expected to reach around $60,000.

Heard plenty of good things about this rod... Looking at getting one for my stella5000swxg.. doing a bit of casting, plastics and light jigs... whats everyones opinion

Where are all the squid?

Me and my brother went down to bicton a couple months ago to try our luck catching some fish, we noticed a couple kids catching a good amount of squid on the other side of the jetty. We went back the next week and ended up catching 8 decent sized squid on some cheap $2.50 jigs in roughly an hour but since then we havn't seen any around, we tried left bank and the north mole but no luck. Does anyone know where they have all gone?
