size and bag limits
Submitted by fishmike on Sat, 2011-01-29 12:08im in perth and just wondering about what size and bag limit differences compared to east coast, for example we have a closed take of about a dozen species including snapper, baldchin, west ausie dhufish which cant be taken between 15 october to 15 december and when they can be taken its only 2 snapper 50cm minimum size for example plus a medium risk section mixed daily limit 12 per angler fish like tailor, bream, skippy, flathead, salmon, etc plus a low risk section mixed limit 30 per angler including fish like herring, whiting, gardies, etc just wondering how these rules compare to east coast rules, for example whats the minimum size for snapper,we also now have a fishing from boat licence 30 bucks a year

fishing before a storm
Submitted by LandyAndy on Fri, 2011-01-28 17:30When I was a young fella I grew up in Freo.
When a good storm approached from the north it was always good fishing at the moles or ASI jetty, especially for snapper.
Im tempted to slip across to Mandurah tommorow before this cyclone turns up.Is it the same story fishing wise down there before a storm????

What is your preference and why? Trebles or singles...
Submitted by PattyT on Fri, 2011-01-28 15:14Hey guys!! Havnt had a whole lot of experience trolling with lures (being from melbourne of course) and in June this year I will be pretty much fishing for two weeks in this fashion. I was wondering what your advice would be on how to set up my lures, treble or single hooks? I will mostly be using Laser Pro's, Xraps and stuff similar to that chasing Makerel, trevally, tuna and any other pelagic.
If i need to change to singles what are some suggestions on hooks.. brand and size?
Also, if i decide to stay with trebles should I upgrade the hooks already on the lures? Any suggestions for that would be great as well.
Thanks guys, look forward to your responce.
Pat

Banning bullbars??
Submitted by Joodles on Fri, 2011-01-28 12:52Has this topic been discussed before? The federal government is considering banning all bars, spotlights & winches on the front of vehicles. That's an outrage!!
visit www.4wdcouncil.com.au and complete the online survey regarding bars & animal strikes.

Denmark Accommodation
Submitted by wazzbat on Thu, 2011-01-27 17:01Hi. Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with accommodation in Denmark. Me and the missus are heading down for a wedding in late March and need a place to stay. We haven't decided on whether we are taking our 2 boys (2 and 4) and maybe a babysitter or whether it will just be the two of us. We are thinking maybe a holiday house or challet type thingo might be the go? Hopefully I get a bit of time to throw a line in while I'm there.

? Reel Maintainence ?
Submitted by PerthGlory on Wed, 2011-01-26 12:44being relativley new to fishing I have sensibly started out with lower priced equipment. I now have the bug for life and its time to indulge with a Saragosa 8000f. Naturally I want to keep this baby in good condition.
after fishing I thoroughly wash the reel in freshwater and leave to dry.
Is there anything more i need to do on a regular basis to extend the life of the reel?
thanks

Bad News, Good News & Great News
Submitted by Snort on Wed, 2011-01-26 11:36A day after her husband disappeared while scuba diving, Mrs. Wilkins answered the door to be greeted by two policemen.
"Mrs. Wilkins we have some bad news, some pretty good news, and some really great news. Which do you want to hear first?"
Fearing the worse, Mrs. Wilkins said, "Give me the bad news first."
The policeman said, "We found your husband’s body in the Bay this morning."
"OH MY GOD!" said Mrs. Wilkens overcome by emotion. "So what's the good news?"
"Well," said the policeman, "When we pulled him up he had two 5kg lobsters and 12 dozen good size crabs on him."
"So, what's the great news?" she asked.
The policeman replied "We're going to pull him up again tomorrow morning."

Peaceful bay the Story
Submitted by Kingfisher549 on Tue, 2011-01-25 22:29Headed south for Peaceful Bay from Geralton several days before xmas, arrived at Peaceful to enjoy several weeks fishing with my younger brother and a few mates. After several days of rough weather we made it out into the bay and fished water just outside the point heading towards rams head. The sounder was alive with images of fish and the ground was all over the place ranging from 28 to 45m within several hundred metres. each drift produced fish with the species list increasing with every fish landed. The excitement of the first day was a Mako which decided to take a drift bait and deciding it was a plane spending more time in the air than the water. At around two metres we were glad to see it bite through the trace and head into the distance. each day out in the bay produced excellent fish and when the wind was in we fished the inlet catching some outstanding KGs and other estuary species. afternoons were spent diving for abs before retiring to the camp to relax with a few beers.
Think I will be heading down that way again next year.
