top 5 reel manufacturers
Submitted by grayzeee on Tue, 2010-06-01 19:50i must admit to prefering shimano gear as its pretty tough and knock about , but apart from daiwa , i've not looked at, or owned , anything else.
which of the other makes turn out a great tough product that'll last. i like the look of okuma stuff and def jigging master (cheers brody
) but have no idea how it performs (<okuma not jm).

Marine Qualifications
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2010-06-01 19:50I'm currently doing my restricted coxswains (doing the proper thing when the course becomes available) and thought I'd do a bit of research to see how many people have qualifications above their RST, be it Coxswains, 5, 4 etc. Also just wondering how difficult it becomes down the track, with the orals etc.. I guess it all comes down to who you have as your examiner?

Advice needed - fishing the Swan/Canning
Submitted by buschy on Mon, 2010-05-31 21:25Hi all,
Despite baby being on the way, being the scoundrel I am, I've schemed a plan that will guarantee me some more fishing hours while the sun is still shining. A family picnic on the swan, friends and kids all welcome is just the ticket. All I need to do is find a great spot that has a playground and a nice patch of grass.
Hoping for a bit of a catch and release session for some bream and maybe flathead - depending on the spot - probably using some soft plastics or hb lures so the girls can have a bash without worrying about getting fish fingers.
Looking on the map, I'm thinking one of three spots:
- Canning River around Shelley, the reserve where there is a small jetty.
- Swan River, reserve opposite Ascot (near Garret Rd bridge).
- Swan River, Cracknell Park, near Gt Eastern & Polly Farmer intersection.
Wandering if anyone can make a recommendation on the three spots - also whether to expect anything other than bream that far up the Swan or flathead in that stretch of the Canning?
Thanks,
Buschy

Anyone need a deckie
Submitted by sarcasm0 on Mon, 2010-05-31 11:50Gday all,
My contract was cancelled a little while ago and I finished up work on friday. I am free for all this week and the forseeable future until I can get another job. If anyone is heading out midweek and is looking for a deckie please let me know will chip in for fuel/bait/beer and provide own gear etc and have RBFL.
Preferably heading out wide doing some bottom bouncing as I will probably do some small boat squidding/fishing myself this week in between applying for jobs.
Thanks in advance, PM me or give me a bell 0423811759.

Bottom bashing our from Dawsville Cut??
Submitted by hunterdive on Sun, 2010-05-30 20:37hi guys
I've been heading to Mandurah this weekend, fortunate enough to have some friends with a house on the canals in Dawsville. Can anyone recommend any bottom fishing out from the cut. I was going to start with the Five Fathon Bank, and look around for some ground. How close is the bank to shore down that way. Any other tips for that area would be awesome.
