Unfortunately our phone line is down due to the severe thunder storms last week. We are still reachable on Facebook Messenger if anyone has any queries and hopefully it gets resolved in the next day or two
Cray Lord Plastics and Jigheads INSTOCK NOW
Submitted by Southside boati... on Tue, 2020-03-03 12:05We’ve just received some new and exciting products from Vexed!
The full range Cray Lord’s soft plastics and matching jig heads have just hit the shelves and they look and feel the goods, with plenty of good dhus already being slain on them!
The plastics come in an awesome selection of Glow and UV colours and sizes from 4 inches all the way up to 7 inches, so they can be used for a huge range of fish species! The Cray Lord’s huge paddled tail is also definitely a big plus when attracting those hungry demersal fish.
The matching Cray Lord’s heads also feature a range of Glow and UV colours and come in weights from 100gm up to 300gm!
Come in and check the full range of these bad boys out!
Don't forget that fishwrecked members receive 10%OFF in-store!
A diving first?!
Submitted by Jsmolly on Tue, 2020-03-03 08:04decide to head out yesterday for arvo dive after wind pulled back a bit. dived with a mate and another for the first time that asked why we dont wear a hoodie?! What for I said!! have one in shed, never even contemplated it.
anyway, second dive, head rubs reef, a heap of coral drops and feel something on my ear. try to brush, then feel it go in my ear and with gloved finger seem to push it deeper, bit a of coral maybe?!
balance of dive could feel it oving, thought maybe just pressure. get back to boat and decide filling ear with beer is best way to sort it. no luck! mate looks and says, yep a crab decided to make its home in there!! tried cray feeler to maybe try and hook it out, no luck!
searched the boat and found some betadine and tweezers, did the job with a mate looking in with a dive torch and being able to pull it out. second claw that fell off came out few minutes later.
anyone ever heard anything so ridiculous??!
16 crays for the record, few good ones. will also consider wearing hoodie too!

Fishing Rods For Newbies
Submitted by Cash_Kid on Sun, 2020-03-01 18:52Hello everyone,
im quite young compared to the rest of this community but I have just started to get back into fishing. Only thing is I've got Kmart gear and I want something that will last for 5 years plus. recently got employed so I don't have big bucks to spend so I'm thinking a combo but I don't really know
i live in headland so I would like my first decent rod to be a creek rod for everything (jacks, cod, barra, sharks, catfish). Does anyone have some suggestions
Cheers in advance, Titan

Keep clear of propellers
Submitted by meglodon on Sat, 2020-02-29 18:53Just caught the end of the story on ch 7 news that someone was badly hurt in an accident down at Mandurah, from what I heard they got badly hurt by getting caught up with the prop on a boat and it was lucky that a nurse was nearby and administered first aid.
You can never be too careful when around turning props and they can inflict very serious injuries in a blind of an eye. Hope everything turns out ok for the injured party

Boatigo? Anyone checked this out?
Submitted by BigJevans on Fri, 2020-02-28 14:49Anyone sussed out this Boatigo mob? only just launched and looks like Uber for boats?
You list your boat and list when you're going out and when youve got a spare seat and people can pay to come out with you.
I'd say it runs under the concept of people helping you cover your expenses for going out rather than comming across as a commercial outfit.
Sound like a fair enough idea, I'd be a little bit wary of the implications if you were caught being "Paid" to take people out fishing etc?
Check out the link below.

Boat silastic
Submitted by ctan1968 on Wed, 2020-02-26 08:44Hi all,
One main boat bung is looking a bit "old" around the seal. Is there a good marine silastic to use? It will be silasticated and also pop rivited in.
Thanks in advance folks.

I have been a member of this website for sometime and I am a Filipino. Im am also greatful of the knowledge learned in becoming a matured and responsible angler thru this forum. Just like to hear your opinion of this Filipina who claim to be a veteran angler with 3 decades of fishing experience mostly in middle east boasting her catch ang bullying some filipino angler local and abroad (some are IGFA members). Thank you guy and tight lines.

Submitted by midnight toker on Tue, 2020-02-25 17:59bit of a blatent plug really but i think many will find this interesting so i hope mods allow.
i just received my copy of Southern Seafood book by Don Tuma
the quality and content is beyond my expectation!
Ive been waiting for this book for about 7 or 8 years at least and it is well worth the wait.
Its a large book with tons of photos of about 340 species. Don gives locations and habitat etc etc for each species, with cooking hints as well
i cant rave enough about it really
straight to the pool room coffee table for mine!!
website doesnt do it justice unfortnately (https://www.southernseafood.com.au/products/southern-seafood)
Would love to hear any other reports if anyone else has a copy

Took the plunge - set of 4 new Stainless Steel Calipers for Boat Trailer
Submitted by hilko on Tue, 2020-02-25 17:19Finally after a numbers of years of "sticky calipers" , hot brakes etc - splurged and sourced new SS Alkoh Brake calipers, inclusive of Stainless Pistons and Stainless brake shoes.
Expensive, but why spend the money on SS Calipers and not SS Piston or SS shoes.
Now to get them fitted to my Dunbier trailer.

Mandurah crabs
Submitted by still trying on Mon, 2020-02-24 10:20Took the family down to Mandurah on Sunday for some crabs in the dinghy got to the ramp about 6 and was surprised that the car park only had about 4 cars in it, later I did see a sign saying launching only between 6 am and I think 7 pm which I have not seen before. Only saw 1 group scooping the whole time. The crabs were tiny about half legal size we tried 2 areas pretty close together for 2 hours for 8 crabs never seen it this bad in mandurah before I don't know how long we can carry this sustainable fishery statement with things in this bad a shape. Don't mean to be pessimistic but they must have copped a real hiding.

Nice little feed
Submitted by BigJevans on Mon, 2020-02-24 09:00Managed to get out Saturday although it wasn't as nice as I thought it was going to be, until we started heading back that is, glassed off at 2.
Picked up the two sharks first couple of drops which was good to know we were coming home with a feed, gave us the flexibility to sound around for fish and take our time.
Picked up two dhueys, first one bang on 50cm, was nice and healthy and itching to go back in the water so let him go and he took off like a rocket. Second dhue was 46cm but had his ass hanging out his mouth so onto the release weight and straight back down. Picked up 4 black ass but just the one sized, the foxy was thick so happy with that and the swallow tail was a new one to throw in the mix around the 40cm so he came home wih us too.
Little miss like to supervise the filleting (and poke the fish eyes lol).
All in all a good day on the water :)

Game fishing teasers
Submitted by roddo on Sun, 2020-02-23 19:45Gday brains trust.
I would like to get more serious in trying to raise a marlin/sailfish and would like some advise on teasers/daisy chains what do you use and how effective do you find it.
In the past I have used a couple of 9inch birds with some reflective cones behind them and I feel these have helped with the mackeral hook ups but not sure if I should go all out and get some serious teasers to help raise a few from the deep.
I will be mainly fishing exmouth and onslow and the odd time may head to dampier.
Cheers
