Best small aluminium boat?

Hey guys,

After opinions on the best small aluminium runabouts with forward controls. I am getting rid of my 3.9m tinnie and looking to get something in the 4-5m range for the purpose of squidding in Warnbro/Cockburn sound, towing down to Walpole for estuary fishing, for nipping out to the 3 mile and a bit of fishing inside & outside the reefs up around Gnaraloo/Exmouth areas. I want to keep it small for the purpose of solo launch retrieve and easy towing but don't want a hull that is going to limit me to estuary fishing only. Any information in regards to good/bad experiences with different hulls would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers,

Impact surf sinkers WTB

 Hello everybody,

I was wondering where everyone buys their impact/grapnel surf sinkers from? Or does anyone make them and willing to sell some? Chasing 7-8oz (not the plastic head ones). Looking for local if available but sick of paying 8-10 dollars a sinker only for a tailor to bite the sinker trace off haha

Thanks in advance!

After small 5hp outboard

Looking at getting a reliable 5hp outboard for this boat, just something to get us backing the water for some crabs and squid. We are missing getting out! Don't want to spend a lot but need something reliable. I know I'm asking a lot. Will need a short shaft if anyone has something laying around. The guy thats holding the boat for us thinks its a 3.5m hull but isnt sure as hes away atm, if anyone knows something about these boats pleass let me know. Cheers

Want 5hp so don't have to register the boat.

A passing

The fishing fraernity/long standing Fishwrecked member and good mate passed away today Colin Langley he had battled a long illness which took him in the end.Colin was one of those guys that never had a bad word about anyone and those that had met him will know what I mean always willing to help a fellow fisher out at the ramp or on the water

RIP Colin

I hope the beer is cold and the fishing ground is better where youve gone

Stuck pot

Hi guys is there anyone able to dive on a stuck pot for me. It's in 8m behind nth end garden island got gps points. Ive snorkle down to it but the pot is wedged under a ledge and the rope is under the ledge too but I think they are sanded in a it too, haven't pulled the pot in a month. Willing to pay for help I have a 4.2 dinghy the pot had been chopped to but they had put a bottle on it for me I had to put a float of my sons on it.

Deep Water Point Ramp

Have launched at Deep water Point ramp most days this week as still on leave until Monday. Cant believe that a fair bit of coin has been spent on the upgrade of this ramp but there is no allocation for boat trailer parking. Today there was one available spot which I loaded with eskys buckets etc while solo launching at midday with only 5 or 6 cars with boat trailers total in the car park, all the rest of the trailer bays where filled with single cars

Surely 10 trailer only spots can be allocated but I guess all will back to normal come Feb 1

Yet to crack a 7 “ crab this season but got a few that are close.

Weather this weekend?

For all the meteorologists, how sloppy will it be out deep (40 - 50m metro) tomorrow when the wind drops?

I'm not sure it will have time to recover. Anybody going to chance it?

Thanks

bimini top

hey guys, just updating my previous post, i am chasinga new canopy for my boat, see pic attached. This pic is from a local dealer, just showing the size of bimini i am chasing, the photo is a solid canopy, i will be having a fold down bimini, but the same size & the same area of clears.

I have the exact same boat, Fraser / Commodore, so it is comparing apples with apples

I have been quoted $3000.00. Does seem expensive to me !!

your thoughts please

Friday Funnys

Enjoy

Bimini

Got a quote today for new bikini & clears for front screen on my 22ft boat. Does $3000 sound expensive ?

Fuel tank material

I'm halfway down the road of refurbish on a 28 ft Bruce Harris Shark Cat ( don't do it I tell you !!! ) . One of the fuel tanks is slightly munted and there's a shit awful smell of fuel in the tank cavity , no visible fuel , yet an ungodly stench . I've decided to rip up the back deck and install some new tanks . Stainless or ally is the big question . There's a pair or 360 litre stainless ones in there at the moment and they've done the job for the last 32 years . Is it worth the extra loot for stainless or should I go down the ally rd ?
Andy , your two cents will be appreciated !

What's on at Yanchep & Two Rocks

Hi all,

This is my first post and a new member to the site.

Just want to know good fishing spots up near Yanchep and Two Rocks and what fish are biting.

Any tips and tricks would be great thanks.

Pinging Etiquette

Was out approx 10nm west of rotto drift fishing with no one else in sight then after about half an hour a boat circled me about 50m away then approach the lee side of boat to about 20m. I asked what they wanted but the skipper was too busy looking at his sounded so had the ask again. He eventually replied I just want to let you know I already have this spot marked in my GPS and I’m definitely not pinging your spot. I said yeah whatever then they setup drift about 20m away.

I would have thought if they already had the spot they would have known well before arriving at my position and maybe choose another spot to fish? Or is this normal pinging etiquette in WA?

Monties weather

I'm planning a trip to the monties this year, it'll be my first time up there so I'm not very clued on with the weather patterns. I've got 2 options at the moment and they are to go in June or late November. Has anyone been there at those times of the year and if you could pick between those months which one would you choose to plan a week long trip?

Fiberlite transducer mount

I would like to talk with anyone who has experience with placing a Furuno 200b transducer on their transom using a Fiberlite mount.

Thanks Russ

hard/soft top

 guys, see pic.

Am wanting to remove & sell my hard /soft top ( not sure exactly what to call it) from my boat. My boat is 22ft & this is a decent size top. I am  a tad over 6foot tall & do not hit my head anywhere under the cover.

It is a fully stainless steel frame with a polymer /canvas cover. It is not collapsible, so once its up, it pretty much stays up. Height can be altered pretty easily, with extending or shortening the stainless steel support bars. Orginally custom built by Poly Fusion WA.

I would like to sell this ASAP as i need to now park the boat in my garage & it won't fit with the top on ( son has moved home so we need the sapce in the driveway)

cheers

Water temp (Rockingham)

For those interested, went out fishing from Rockingham on sunday (nothing worth reporting unfortunately except plenty of tuna) I noticed that the surface water temp was up around 23 degrees in some spots.

My mind may have been playing tricks on me - but I’m sure I saw a bigger fin in the middle of a tuna bust up that looked like a Mackie? Didn’t look like a shark or dolphin.

So might be time to have a troll for mackies. Plan on giving it a good crack this year.

Perth Thresher shark on jig

Staff member Justin landed this beautiful thresher shark on jig in 120meters off rotto on Sunday on jig. Shark was released and Swam off unharmed.  Catch of a life time

Trim and tilt issue

My Verado 175 has an issue with the trim and tilt.
Motor works fine and there's plenty of fluid in the reservoir , yet it's staying in the up position when the switch is activated . Any ideas what this could be and a good way to troubleshoot ?  .
Cheers in advance .

Which species to target

 Hi All,

Hope you had a good xmas and new year.

I am getting used to the new boat and exploring the sound from woodies. Not brave enough to out beyond the islands yet.

I have been having plenty of success nailing squid over the parmelia bank, however whenever I drop any baited hooks on a waiting rig; I get nailed by blowies and trumpeter right away.  Also got a few baby pink snapper.

Which species should I be targetting this side of garden island and what rigs/techniques should I learn?

The ramps are gonna get smashed Sunday

Well F%$%&4ng finally a good day forecast. The last day of my hols so I suppose better late than never, I've spent a few days installing a deck wash, rigging gear and have made a cracking burley out of crayheads and Tuna oil that's going down in the sinking burley pot. We'll be anchoring in some prime ground I've been mapping out in the 35m mark.

Good luck lads!
