Busselton Area Tips
Submitted by CityFlicker on Mon, 2013-05-13 09:29Heading down to Busselton for my first time (usually hit south coast) in two weeks for a 5 day holiday with the family & am keen to get some fishing in. As it's a family holiday my fishing time will be limited so I really want to make the most of the opportunities I do get & as I've never fished the area before, I was hoping people could pass along some tips on rigs, baits, lures, target species & if they are feeling really generous, spots (PM me), to help me make the most of it? I know about the jetty but am hoping to be pointed towards some less crowded locations that are accessible in a 2wd. I've got gear to cover ANY landbased situation but recommendations on what outfits will be most usefull to me are very welcome as I only have room for 2 or maybe 3 combos. I release 99% of what I catch & never leave a mess behind so anyone that does share a spot can rest easy knowing I'm not going to kill the place.
Thanks in advance for any info.

why oh why
Submitted by petermac on Sun, 2013-05-12 21:34went down to the Rockingham fore shore today to have a look at the beach art display there it was a really beautiful day and good turn out for it.
I then had a look at the jetty near the yacht club as a few people were fishing of it just as I get to the end this bogan (he was wearing a check shirt, had a mullet hair do and a cask of wine on the jetty next to him on the jetty) pulls up a NW blowie. they are horrible things arnt they I said. #### yeah he says and then plunges a knife into its head, what the hell did you do that for I asked with my blood pressure rising. hook was too far down he says wont be able to get it out. I said you didn't even try and you could have just cut it off and let him go it will rust out, oh well its done now too bad, I clench my teeth and fists turn on my heel and walk off wishing I was 35 years younger. I am no greeny but what the hell he ruined my day, I hate NW blowies too but not as much to do that

Ratchet jockey wheel clamp
Submitted by Olliej on Sat, 2013-05-11 16:01I've picked up a dual wheel ratchet jockey wheel to be able to move the trailer into its pen on my own. The setup itself works ok but the problem is that the clamp can't take to torque of ratcheting action and eventually the upright moves about 40 degrees from vertical.
I'm thinking this may help http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1x-Double-Clamp-Fixing-Brackets-Weld-On-To-Suit-Std-48mm-Tube-Jockey-Wheel-/121076014940?pt=AU_product_Trailer_Parts&hash=item1c30b15f5c but before buying/welding I wanted to see if anyone else has any suggestions.
The clamp on it currently is one of the two clamps on the ebay link.

Ningaloo St Report
Submitted by Stoinka on Sat, 2013-05-11 09:48
Arrived at Ningaloo station last Saturday arrived back home on Thursday.
The weather gods flexed there muscle. Only fished for 2 days.
Big research team at Black Rock studying Whale sharks, they counted 25 individuals on the first day. They are convinced the GWhites came close to shore
because of the high water temps and increase in whales travelling our coast. In the last 12 months they estimate a total of 300 plus carcasses floating around in our waters.
We have Killer whales making our homes permanent now due to the whales as well.
Great place to stay, have to travel a few miles on the ocean to get clear of the biggest marine sanctuary on the ningaloo reef.
You start fishing about 7nm straight out from shore in the 65m plus and beyond, thats if you can pick a safe passage through the reef.
Reds were good, chewing threw 150lb leader, lost some beauties, no sharks to contend with.
Firts 10 mins of trolling a Saily climbs on board. A couple of million Bonito going to town on a whitebait buffet, huge schools.
Tomatoe Cod, tomatoe cod plus more, spanglies, only a few mackeral and barracuda.
Anyway left the boat in Gero, as we are heading to Warroora St in 3 weeks. Stage 2 of the Northern fshing fun.
Lovin Life is what you do with it.

Conditions report - Mid West
Submitted by buschy on Fri, 2013-05-10 13:17Hi folks,
Planning to make a LB run up to Leeman area tomorrow afternoon for a quick overnight session.
Just wondering if anyone has been through the area Greenhead/Leeman or even Jurien in the last day or two? Have things been stirred up much up that way with the wild weather?
Cheers,
Buschy
Expressions of interest - mid-west fishing spots
Submitted by Dean_LegendCharters on Fri, 2013-05-10 12:05I fished professionally for Dhuies between Cervantes and Leeman (Jurien) for 15 years up until 5 years ago. I have sold my commercial licence in that area as we are concentrating on charter fishing and whale watching in the South West.
I have over 800 tried and tested fishing spots in that area that I am keen to sell. Not sure whether to sell the whole lot exclusively to one person, split into groups or sell the lot to a limited number of people.
Interested in what you all think generally and open to offers (PM me).
I would also include a couple of hours tuition on the area if needed.
Cheers
Dean

Release weight rope
Submitted by turts on Fri, 2013-05-10 06:08Guys just something very quick and basic. What thickness rope do you gus recommend for using an 80oz release weight for fish up to say 30-40kg?! I was thinking 5mm would suffice that way it won't take up too much room in the boat. And just tie it off with uni knot or something onto the weight?!
cheers in advance!

Are we getting ripped off or what!!!!!
Submitted by clogwog on Thu, 2013-05-09 18:47Hey All,
I was looking on the net and came across a website for an Indonesian Company
selling outboards, the prices are in US dollars and are ridiculously low. The website
I understand that you would not have a warranty if purchased for a local boat, however
for the prices that they are selling them for you could pretty much buy a new engine every 3-4 years.
The warranties being offered within indonesia seem to be equivelant to local warranties.
Are we getting ripped off or what????
Has anyone purchased one and fitted it up locally?
Food for thought.
