Yellowtail?
Submitted by surfer on Fri, 2013-05-17 08:49G'day Guys,
Just wondering if anyone can tell me where I can catch some yelowtail for bait.
Use to be able to get them at the rockingham jetties but haven't seen them there in any great number for a while now.
North or Southe of the river, boat or lanbased, is all accessible to me.
Thanks.

1 day fishing License
Submitted by Ninety Mile on Fri, 2013-05-17 08:25Ive got the old man visiting from over East and want to take him out on the boat for a quick fish tomorrow morning. I cant seem to find daily licenses on the WA fisheries website. Do you rerally need to buy a 12 month license to fish for 1 day of the year? In Vic they have daily licenses sold at most tackle shops?
Cheers

Fishing holes rather than lumps?
Submitted by gibbs on Thu, 2013-05-16 21:25Hi all, just looking over some charts for a few spots for Saturday and have noticed a few holes out wide. I know we normally fish lumps but has anyone had success fishing this sort of thing? Depth is from 30-40 and 40-55.
thinking about giving it a shot

is this line any good ?
Submitted by Mainey on Thu, 2013-05-16 19:29I have the chance to get some fishing line for next to nothing
It is a 'hollow' line possibly 'dacron'
white/cream in color, with one dark grey/blue thread wound through it
It is roughly as thick as string, (does NOT look like string) and wound onto a damaged hand line, it looks like it would be good for 20 plus Kg fishing at least - I think - but I will admit up front I have no clue at all.
I've looked on various fishing adds on the net but can't see it advertised anywhere so thought I should ask the guys who use the stuff.
It is not shiny like Mono
It is hollow
it is round
Thanking you all in advance
Paul

Western Foxfish average or excellent or inbetween?
Submitted by duges66 on Thu, 2013-05-16 09:32Was always led to believe the foxfish was excellent eating but just read that this sites fish species ID has that it is average eating.
Whats others take on it?
No doubt will keep the next one I catch and try for myself but curious to know others thoughts from experience.

Boat Value
Submitted by C.P on Wed, 2013-05-15 19:43Just received my boat insurance renewal & I'm not sure that its worth the insured amount. Thats not their fault, its just that I havent adjusted the value over the years. 1994 4.5 mtr Quintrex bay hunter. 40 hp merc. good cond i dont want to be paying more than i need to. Is there a source of information on boat valuations as there is with red book etc for cars? Or can some of you make a guess at what it might be worth?

Dunsborough/Hamelin Bay Salmon
Submitted by Bobstanator on Wed, 2013-05-15 18:09Hi guys, first time poster here so bare with me cheers (and bare with me on another salmon thread sorry). Heading down to dunsborough for the rest of this week purely to chase salmon, as I was down there 2 weekends ago and had many close calls, breaks off's etc etc fishing off the beach at bunkers, so am keen for another shot. I will be hitting up the coast anywhere between dunsborough and augusta basically, and want to know if the late salmon run has started yet or if there are still fish schools down there? I have read all the recent forums on here, and it seems they are still running in patches but would love to know if any of you have had success lately or heard of anyone getting into the salmon, and if so maybe general areas (doesnt need to be spots). I will try out hamelin bay one day, but since I haven't been there for over a decade I cant remember if there are any fishing restrictions (no fishing zones etc) or where the tracks are onto the beach. Any help on that matter would be great! Apologies for the long post, its my last shot this season for salmon and I am keen to catch one.

to carpet or not ?
Submitted by D_d_001 on Wed, 2013-05-15 17:11have a genesis 6.1
up until now it has been uncarpeted, non slip ali deck. self draining decks, mainly used for fishing....north trips etc. but occ used river wine cruise.
anyone here have opinions as to whether carpet is better or not.
just doing it up a bit at the moment over winter and wondering if carpet would be a worthy addition. how does it go for cleaning etc.
I usually wear thongs in the boat.
1. cos the non slip deck is like sandpaper (not bad for a day out but spend 10 days straight 10 hrs a day (love to fish hard sometimes !!!) and Im sure Im a cm shorter!)
2. fatigue etc.
carpet help? or just be harder to clean and smell bad etc???
cheers guys

jetty combo?
Submitted by sheldoncy23 on Wed, 2013-05-15 15:53im coming into about $400-$450 soon and was thinking of either an overhead or spin combo that will be mostly used for jettys like busso and rocks for salmon etc... was thinking stradic 4000 or 5000 with 20lb braid on a 8 or 9 footer. any better suggestions? would an overhead be better seeing as i would have acess to a boat every so often? i have posted before about this i was going to start buying gear for lb shark fishing so im caught between a rock and a hard place!
any input welcome especially from you jetty and rock specialists
