Reel Recomendation
Submitted by 499 on Sat, 2010-10-16 08:49Ive just bought a shimano t curve spin PE3-5 2 piece and going to use it for drift baiting out the back of a boat and some lite jigging work in 30 to 60m depth max
Been chatting with my mates and have been looking at the daiwa seagate 4500h.......seems to be a reasonable reel for the price
anyone has this reel currently and yr thoughts..................and or other suggestions for a reel wth 8-10kg drag that wont cost the earth (ie saltiga) which is my preferred choice but cost is a deterrent given ill use it no more than half a dozens times a yr
cheers folks

Ahbrolis last weekend
Submitted by GrahamM on Fri, 2010-10-15 17:43Just had a great long weekend. We left Geraldton Friday evening for a 4 day Diving/fishing trip. Couldnt belive it the swell was down and nearly no wind makes a nice change to have a pleasent trip over to the islands and not get blown to bits. We got over to the Southern Group of islands about 10pm all keen as to catch a fish but not much bitting. Got up early to see if we had a change but still nothing on the chew. So down for a dive we went and saw lots of fish and schools of bait fish hence the bigger ones not bitting as they would have been full of whitting. I managed to score a 60cm Dhu but i did have to shoot him. There were crays everyware even the Anchor wasnt safe. I also saw an Occy that camoflaged well. We fished lots but without much sucess and not from a lack of trying by the skipper he was one of the best skippers i have ever had. He even proved himself more by drifting over a spot he said was good twice, without scoring any fish on a line but he insisted it was good, so we went over the side. What an amazing dive there where fish everyware just not bitting. I managed to shoot 2 Baldies 4 to 5 kgs as did my dive buddy and i think just about everyone else that went in that dive. I also saw Dhuies, Snapper, Coral Trout and the biggest Mackie i have ever seen would have gone 5 foot. All in all a great escape from the real world and came home with a feed of fish for my troubles. Thanks to the crew i went with had a blast

SKIRTED LURES
Submitted by Dirt on Fri, 2010-10-15 11:43Just chasing some thoughts from some of you game fishers out there!
I USED TO THINK THAT IT WAS ALWAYS BEST TO SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY WHEN BUYING FISHING GEAR
BUT WHEN IT COMES TO SKIRTED LURES IM NOW NOT SURE,I LOVE MY BLACK BART LURES AND MY SOFT HEADED RICTERS
FOR MARLIN BUT AS MOST OF YOU WOULD KNOW BLACK BART LURES ARE ATLEAST 100 BUCKS EACH RIGGED,MY GOOD MATE AND I ARE HEADING TO GAMEX NEXT YEAR AND WITH MONEY BEING TIGHT EVERY SENT SAVED IS A BONUS.WE FOUND THIS WEBSITE THAT SELL LARGE
SKIRTED LURES FOR 20BUCKS EACH RIGGED THEY SEEM TO LOOK LIKE THEY WILL STILL DO THE JOB AND FOR THAT PRICE YOU CAN HAVE EVERY COLOUR YOU WANT,EAST COAST PUSHERS I THINK THEY ARE CALLED,HAS ANYONE USED THESE ,ARE THE MARLIN REALLY GOING TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YR THOUGHTS

New halco colours
Submitted by Luke R on Fri, 2010-10-15 10:41hey all
Well I finally received my custom laser pro colours from Halco today and I’m sure they will be a hit.
I designed 2 new colours for the laser pro range that I felt they really needed
For the people that have used a purple trolling lure before you will know how deadly they can be on pelagic fish, with that in mind I came up with a colour that is quite realistic to that of baitfish, here is the finished product and I hope you all like it.
The other colour that was made is designed to look like a fleeing flying fish, again I have spoken to a lot of people who have used flying fish as bait and it would have to be one of the best dead/ live baits around for pelagic fish. With that in mind we came up with this end product that I am really impressed with.
Pop in and try one out for yourself to see just how deadly they are
These colours are exclusive to All Boat Business!

Rumours Of A Meter+ Barra for Mr Fishwrecked!
Submitted by Kelvin8r on Thu, 2010-10-14 19:06Hi All
I heard along the grapevine today that Mr PilbaraBrad guided Mr Fishwrecked himself to a meter+ barra on his annual trip.
Stay Tuned for more details...
What is the craziest boat you've seen?
Submitted by SandGroper84 on Thu, 2010-10-14 18:40Gday fishwrecked members, just wanting to know what is the craziest, most outrages watercraft you've seen?
I only ask because I was down around the raffles/SPYC this afternoon and there was a guy down there with an old wooden/fiberglass style canoe with a 650cc kawasaki jetski engine, I take my hat off to the guy for having a go at the build, but oh my god! SCARY! looked like he was doing around 20ish knots or so, but when he went to turn the thing.. can see it flipping over on him if he gets too confident.
Also would he have to get something like that licensed or registrated? I asked him about it and he wasnt sure either. Theres always water police in that area, so I surpose he'll find out sooner rather than later.
Cheers.
Matt

Barges Jaunt on Sunday
Submitted by JohnF on Thu, 2010-10-14 09:13Well gents, looks like a cracker on Sunday, and asuming the weather holds out, was thinking of doing a trip out to the barges in my 540 as not too often you get such a nice day suited to the smaller boats.....not real keen on heading out just with one boat so if anyone else is keen to go out for an early season jig let me know and we can hook up, preferably in a similar speed boat as there is nothing worse than going with a much faster or slower bloat.
I have a 540 Trailcraft with 90 hp, normally sit on 24 knots in good weather and have the GPS co-ords for all the barges and about 8 other wrecks logged in my sounder, so far have found and fished all 3 barges and 4 of the 8 other wrecks.
Not sure how the 500 kW Raymarine A70 sounder will go in the Traily, seemed OK in 75 m of water a few weekends ago, have previously gone out to the barges in a larger boat with a 1 kW Furuno, which was pretty darn good. Still, the barges stick out like the proverbial, so should be OK. Some of the other wrecks are much more subtle.
Probably plan on leaving very early from Hillarys and maybe a beer at the Rotto pub on the way home. Till and Chrisp have indicated interest, so my boat probably full.
PM me if you are interested.
John

Octopus in the shore
Submitted by snagged on Wed, 2010-10-13 21:25Went out today for a practice flick with some lure for flathead at Fresh Water Bay. Was walking
i picked it up)
There wasn't any signs of any trauma on the body and only 2 of it tenticles seemed like it had been chewed on by blowies or crabs.
Other than that it was a really quiet day fishing.

south perth jetty
Submitted by fisho-ron on Wed, 2010-10-13 17:59i am taking the oldies out for a day on the river on sat and was looking at the best option for them to board the boat as they have back/hip problems.
does anybody know if the jetty to the left of the south perth boat ramp(not the ferry termial jetty) is suitable to tie a boat to so some oldys can get on board?
i can also launch there as well then.
i think it is the funcats jetty?
i thought about barrack st, but the jettys are to high.
another option is the littel bay on herrison island you can come into and back the boat up to the lawn(those who have been in there will know what i mean).
any other ideas for south of the river?
cheers ron
