Please vote for my fish cartoon on facebook
Submitted by drex on Thu, 2010-10-28 16:09Hey,
I've been bored as I haven't been able to get out on the ocean.
So I've entered a comp to win a BBQ.
I created a cartoon with fish singing to Bohemian Rhapsody on a BBQ hotplate. Me and a couple of mates tried to sing.
If you want to see it and vote and comment you need to have a facebook account.
1) You need to click 'like' Appliances Online Australia @ http://www.facebook.com/ap pliancesonline.com.au
and
2) Watch my video then click 'like'. You'll find it in the video section in the tabs across the top.
To win I need to get as many votes as possible. I've got about 83 at the moment. I need about 200.
It's worth checking out I think it's quite funny.
Cheers

popping rods
Submitted by aussie_breamer on Wed, 2010-10-27 19:43hey guys.
was wondering what every one would recomend for me. I am wanting a nice popping rod for up north, but that is also semi versitile so could be useed in other situations if i had to. atm i hav a shimano twinpower 4000 on a t-curve salt water spin 5-10 kg but am after a heavier out fit. also a reel 2 match it. was thinking twinpower 10,000 SW on a monster mesh, gt special or (if my parents let me) a ripple fisher. any suggestions?
cheers, tom

South Perth Flats
Submitted by ADDICT- dUFFMAN on Wed, 2010-10-27 16:56A mate and I went wading on the 18/10/10 on the flats on the freeway side upstream on the canning bridge.
Was a great morning , massacred by blowies, saw one decent Flathead which saw us before we saw it and didnt catch any decent fish.
Saw many blue Manna crabs of which 2 pairs where mating, good signs for the future.
Also saw schools of mullet, was a perfect morning for fishing with 0 fish caught :P
Then travelled to Canning bridge were there where masses of bream schools of 70 +.
Mostly aroung 22-25cms but some 30+cm were seen and a couple of monsters.
These bream would not take any bait, lure or plastic a good morning none-the-less
Cheers Duffman

Pics from the East
Submitted by FlyingFisherman on Wed, 2010-10-27 13:59I am a recent new member and sponsor with our polarised sunnies, I love my fishing ! mainly estuary for mulloway or bream and crabs here on the Hawkesbury River ,Sydney. The variety and size of the fish you guys get is amazing. We sponsored a couple of gamefish tournaments over last summer, at Port Stephens in Feb where 55 boats tagged and released 114 marlin over 2 days and Sydney in May where the YFT were on the chew !

under floor - Fuel sender unit problems
Submitted by fishnguru on Tue, 2010-10-26 19:21Have had a dodgy fuel gauge for a while - so I ripped up the hatch in the floor and replaced the compete sender unit -
When you power up the unit to test it stays on FULL and when you move the Float level arm Manually it moves from FULL to OVER FULL! - I read somewhere that if it is not earthed properly it can read Full all the time . Checked that and its still the same .- Any Ideas ?????

I"ve done a quick search of the forums, seems like getting a charter in Thailand is a bit hit and miss.
Has anyone actually gone on a charter in Thailand and had some success? They seem to be selling the whole Sailfish, GT, Tuna thing a fair bit...
Thinking of booking with these guys:

Jigging Master T-091 handle
Submitted by JohnF on Tue, 2010-10-26 11:19More opinions please......
Looking to replace the disgraceful standard knob on my Stella 10,000.....how a reel can cost $1k and have such a banger knob is beyond me..............
Have looked at either a new ali knob (45 mm JM??) or JM T bar, but the T bar always looked very awkward and uncomfortable....until I tried a JM reel the other day which had a T bar......did not like the JM OH reel, but LOVED the T bar.......at least to hold in the shop.
Has anyone used either one for extended jigging, and opinions....will be for 300-400 g jigs on the Stella, so will be getting a workout......the existing knob will be going....it is a dunger!

saltist o/h spool
Submitted by turts on Mon, 2010-10-25 16:03just finished spooling up my new saltist 30 2speed overhead. i was able to fit 550m of 50lb easily with minimal backing. I thought i would struggle to fit the lot on but ended up falling short of a full spool.
Im wondering whether its worth stripping the spool to add more backing or would i be wasting my time. i assume would only get say 50 more metres max of mono backing, cause have to consider I still need to attach my wind-on.....
also do people tend to use the external fixation to mount the reel more securely to the seat/rod? i doubt it is necessary but i could be wrong?
