Stainless hooks
Submitted by Jim on Wed, 2022-08-03 17:57Does anybody know if Vexed products use stainless steel hooks?
Just curious as I've always thought stainless wasn't the best option
for general fishing. Cheers

Caravan Hire
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Tue, 2022-08-02 11:34Can anyone recommend who may hire a caravan for a farm stay for my bro's 40th in September for 2 adults and 3 kids? I've checked out Camplify but the booking and service fees are at least $150 on top of the hire so looking to see if I can hire one privately with insurance etc still in check.
Cheers JF

Garmin EchoMap 75cv
Submitted by Alan James on Tue, 2022-08-02 11:14A mate of mine has one of these units and I'm trying to help him out. He wants to view the chartplotter map, the traditional sounder screen and the bottom lock screen at the same time. Getting the bottom lock screen to show with the other two seems to be the issue. Any / all advice welcome.
Contacting Garmin seems almost impossible.

Price of bait
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Thu, 2022-07-28 17:31Went and bought my first bait today since about 2006 before moving to the north. $48 for a 2kg box of Lund's, nearly fainted at the counter. Think the weekend will be spent on the throw net as opposed to fishing, what's the price at your local?

Submitted by little johnny on Wed, 2022-07-27 20:05Going to buy pin striping tomoz . Made new 316 stainless rod holders . Gave her 4 coats of 2 pack . Ian from ( Ian’s winches) gave me some stainless grab rails . Now new windscreen and new rego numbers , buff all done . I’ve set boat up for inshore fishing . I broke broom sticks in new rod holders ( just checking strength) pretty happy with outcome, put heaps of time into her , guts all done years ago ( thanks to Ian) . Had money to buy new boat . I just can’t get rid of my boat . Trust it . All my kids grew up with it . Few more weeks to go before it’s ready . Bloody hard work

Moving to Exmouth
Submitted by RumPig on Mon, 2022-07-25 10:55G'day all,
New to the forum, thought I'd get involved, I am moving up to Exmouth in January and obviously know the fishing is pretty different to what I am used to catching on the NSW southern coast.
I have a 4.9m open boat and a bit of gear. Just wondering if anybody has any specific gear recommendations and could point me to the right spot for some info on what I am likely to encounter land based and boat based. I have a fair idea after trolling Google and the forum. Just wanting to get experienced perspectives.
cheers

Petrol at mid west marinas
Submitted by Camo.W on Thu, 2022-07-21 14:38Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows if you can get petrol at any of the midwest Marinas? Leeman, Lancelin, Jurien etc.
Looking at what I've found online they only have Diesal facilities through Baileys Marine fuels.
Don't want to get a bladder if I don't have to
Cheers, Tight lines.

Isolation boredom ( treating my love)
Submitted by little johnny on Wed, 2022-07-20 20:19Feeling really good this morn . ( still positive) I thought I would give the love of my life a makeover . Started to sand her down . Soon as iam free of lockdown . I will get paint and give her new paint job up top . Everything below solid . Just the looks needs improving . Many many years in water poor thing must be wondering WTF . Hasn’t seen water lately ( 4 days) endured 2 great white attacks (1 bad one) whale tail . Horrid winds . Even a nomad boat trying to park on it in water . Part off my life . Swifty owners will know . All jokes aside looking forward to getting her cosmetics looking good .

Submitted by uncle on Sat, 2022-07-16 16:39Drove to Rockingham for 7.30 start, strong winds a bit of rain, put in at pt person, didn't go to far, bait cast mulie bango, 60 cm of pink.we caught a few undersized, had 2 blistering runs but chopped the mono, then a 72 cm pink, stayed awhile but bite shut down when peck tide was over, skipper missed out but ended up with a nice fish, you can catch fish on a N/E.

Inboard cons
Submitted by scotto on Sat, 2022-07-16 07:56As with probably all of you, I'm always lookin at my next boat. I currently have a 22ft Whittley with a Suzuki outboard, which I service myself. The next step up in boat size starts getting towards a few petrol inboard models, which we all know come with a bad perception on maintenance and dramas. Yes, I'd love to get a trailerable 26footer with twin 300 mercs, but I haven't won lotto yet, and Gina rhinehart keeps refusing my belgium waffle prices
I want to know anyones bad experiences with petrol inboards please. Regular issues, common problems, extra maintenance, etc.
feel free to comment if you have anything good to say about them too.
cheers legends.

Chicken breast for bait?
Submitted by Fathom on Thu, 2022-07-14 11:33Havn't been able to get any occy lately, and @ $27kg it's getting a bit pricey. The schools of little pinkys around at the moment are a pain in the arse, I need a bait that can last long enough for my target species. I might try marinating chicken breast in Tuna oil for half the price of occy, anyone tried this?
