Help needed with SPs
Submitted by artygunner on Mon, 2013-07-22 15:30Hi Everyone,
So I went to Woodies again today to throw around some SPs - I tried the 3" Nuclear Chicken Swimming Mullet. Every cast the SP was getting smashed by something and bitten in half. (I think blowies) But on inspection of the SP there are some pretty damn big teeth marks in them. Can anyone tell me whether this is definitely blowies? Or have I just been unlucky to not hook anything? Every bite that was taken was just below the hook. Photos below

Well I won't be buying daiwa again
Submitted by TROOPY on Mon, 2013-07-22 13:28Few months ago purchased a brand new 12ft sensor surf rod, since getting it I've used it once off the beach for tailor and twice off the beach up at quobba... Two weeks ago took it to ledge, rigged up and as casting it all the rod from below the reel seat splintered and cracked took it back and have just got the call ffor the shop saying that daiwa won't cover it as a warranty job. Well that sucks.... Rod has never been knocked and when I have been transporting it its always in my SW lab bag. Was told by the rep tho that he will sell me a bottom section.
knew I should have stuck with shimano gear, grr

Yeagerup in August - worth it or leave it alone
Submitted by rigpig on Mon, 2013-07-22 11:44G'Day All
I'm heading down to Yeagerup early August with a few mates for a bit of 4x4ing / camping / fishing / fishing / fishing and refreshments. We are all avid 4x4ers and won't have any trouble with that or the refreshments side of things but what about the fishing? I'm thinking a couple of big roads and tackle for the ever hopefull mulla or shark etc and a couple of lighter gear for herring and whiting.
Am I going to go to a lot of effort only to get there at the wrong time of the year????
cheers

Two Rocks #2 (Nice Sambo)
Submitted by dant on Mon, 2013-07-22 06:42Gday All,
Weather looked ok so up we went to Two Rocks for round 2 on friday, not a massive day out fish wise, but my mate (6' 3) managed a very nice Sambo (Released) that went 116cm and that we thought was 20kg as usual the white night 80 buk combo did it again as the Stell and Sustain Combos looked on. Couple of small Dhuies (60cm), the usual monster token Nth West Blowy i thought was a Dhuie, a couple of small sambos and Sgt baker on a jig and a Black Ass. Still managed a decent feed with the Dhuie and BA.
The bait worked best all day, only thing caught on the jigs was the Sgt Baker.
Stillllllllll chasing my big dhuie.

Cheers All Dan

Crabbing
Submitted by Sea Hunter on Sun, 2013-07-21 22:30A couple of things.
1. While out crabbing, an old guy asks to set his pots inside mine. No problem. I finish pulling half my pots and proceed to the next pot. This guy has set right on top of mine. I tell him it's a bit rich setting right on top of mine and he starts arguing telling me that I can set somewhere else cos the ocean is a big place. I told him to f^€ k off and that he was an idiot.
2. Today coming into Bunbury, crabbers have set pots covering entire entrance to the harbour. Does anyone police the harbours? Can I claim damages if their gear wrecks anything?

this arvo at tims thicket
Submitted by crezz on Sun, 2013-07-21 19:48me and a couple of mates went down to tim's thicket today for a flick and to test the new landy. fished for a few hours and got a decent herring and heaps of whiting. not huge whiting but they were like blowies, as soon as the prawn hit the water the bait was gone or you were pulling in double headers of the little guys.

rod and reel choices
Submitted by luc on Sun, 2013-07-21 19:48Heys guy,
I'm fairly new to fishing and just wondering can a good quality rod and reel make a difference in catch rates, or is it just for the ease and feel of a smoother rig??
Thanks guys!!

broken rod :(
Submitted by Jayden20 on Sun, 2013-07-21 19:37gday all...unfortunate happened to me on friday arvo...put my rod down in the corner of a mates boat against the transom door ..door opens from the rolling off the boat and yup rod drops down the gap on the hinged side of the door and sure enough boat rolls the other way and crushed the effin rod :/.....this rod was I giant king jig rod I purchased from oceanside tackle a few months back and worth about 200 ish roughly wich is a bit of money in my regards.
What I want to no are my options...seeing as the rod didnt break its self its not a waranty job or anything so to save my self some coin is it worth stripping the rod for parts and buying a new blank and using the parts on that or would i be better off saving my small xhange for the next few months and just buying another rod ??
All opinions apreciated

Best Camping invention/tool/idea.......
Submitted by timboon on Sun, 2013-07-21 00:38Gday Fella`s,
I`m sure its been done here before but i thought i`d re-ignite the issue. I know there are some creative bush mechanics amongst us.... As most of us go Glamping nowadays with everything that opens n shuts i`m looking for some new ideas and anyway its a good opener for guys to have a spruke about their creativness on here...
I`m not sure its so creative but the 12v LED light strips ( 5 m x 300 leds for $18 on ebay ) is something that has made nighttime like daylight at my camp now - Gone are the days of replacing the mantels in a poxy gas lantern in my camp!!!
Attached is a pic of camp cable tie @ night - 10m of LED action visible from space........

Woodman Point
Submitted by artygunner on Sat, 2013-07-20 19:51So I have been fishing 3 out of the last 4 days on what can be considered the right time of day and tides with not much result. Infact, I have caught a handful of herring, 4 small skippy, some very small pinkies (smaller than my hand) and one very good sized horsehoe leatherjacket. But where are all the good fish?! Are they days of Woodies producing over? Has anyone had any luck there lately?

sea search and rescue groups
Submitted by petermac on Fri, 2013-07-19 19:27After reading Icemans post about a mayday and the dick they set out to rescue with the water coppers it might be a crazy idea but I think these vollys should be paid along the same lines as the army reservists are paid .They risk their lives and take the pressure of already over stretched resources like the navy (always out saving refo boats) and water coppers

I want as big as possible without loosing the ability to drag up n down a beach and load/unload easily... Would you buy again what you own now or have you spotted something better on the market...
