Coral bay help urgent!

me and my mate are currently in coral bay we were wondering if anyone could help us out with some tips or spots if anyones generous enough. Were struggling to find decent fish atm we've got got a 6m fraser so depth isnt an issue just need a push in the right direction to make this trip worth while. We head out from the north passage and are set up for trolling, bottom bouncing, jigging and soft plastics.

If anyone could help that would be great, any input is valued and much appreciated cheers

Knot for light braid

Hey guys, im running sufix matrix pro 8lb on my stradic 2500 and im loving it - rediculously thin compared to other brands ive seen/used.

problem which is anoying the hell outa me tho, the knot strength is pretty rubbish when tying on a swivel. im losing rigs and good fish

Ive been using the six turn diego jam which is awesome on mono or my old fireline but doesnt seem to be working well for the super thin braid. link to the knot below

http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/fishing/bass/where-fish/2009/02/strongest-fishing-knots

Can anyone who fishes with light braid recommend one for me?

Cheers and tight lines fellas

Single hooks or trebles?

Heading up to quobba at the end of may and have been buying myself a heap of slices to take up, mainly 85-100g raiders, just asking wether it's worth taking the trebles off them and running a single hook or leaving them as is?

cheers

Whats your favourite fish recipe?

Hi all,  been doing ok on the dhuies lateley and i thought i would share a great way we have been serving it up.

Fillet fish toss in flour and fry in butter like normal. -

make a cream sauce ,   simmer some cream , half a teaspoon of wholegrain mustard/1 clove  garlic/around a quater of a onion finely chopped/salt pepper/  whole green peppercorns-pull off 2 sticks  (buy them in a jar in brine) then simmer a dozen prawns in the sauce for few minutes and serve up with rice or chips whatever.  OMG really words cant describe how good fresh dhu is with this sauce.

As a side note usaully go off 2 rocks but popped out yesterday off mindarie for a few hours in the arvo,  jigged up a 55cm dhu and a bloody big octopus on jig!   yeah ive got cuttlefish on jig but occy?  few other shit fish and dropped something much bigger all in 30m.. sweet little session.  the little dhu with cream sauce almost bought tears to my eyes.so good .  love WA!

west coast

First time this year the eagles looked like they wanted to win.Shame it was onlt in the last half but hopefully a sign of things to come. Great to see kerr getting amongst it again. And before you haters start im not pumping up that win, just the fact the second half was played with the want to win attitude that will get us the flag this year. CARN THE EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Demersal jigging confused

Hi fellas, been getting into this demersal thing recently, been getting a few species but nothing spectacular. I still want to big dhuie on jig in the metro, I guess that's the prize that all Perth jiggers want. Been reading past post on gear that people use for it and it seems ridiculous to me.

when I bottom bounce I use 80lb, and still some critters I hook up still bust me off. I've figured out that the lighter I go the more hits I get on jig. I was told that a good jig catches more fish due to its colour and finish, so I've bought a few at 30 bucks plus each. But people on here recommend using pe2.

I just want to know what is the biggest dhuie anyone here caught on pe2? I just don't want to throw away my jigs to the ocean before I go down to pe2.

btw. I've gone down to using 40 lb braid, or should I just stay at this point?

retards and stingrays (some unpleasant language)

On Saturday my son and I went to the estuary at Miami/ Dawesville to chuck a U turn in the ute.....

We noticed a group of people watching some guys mucking around with something on the waters edge. We decided this may be worthy of some further investigation so we cruised over to see what was going on.........Well.........

Some fucktard had been fishing with a 8 or 10 ish hook wire trace on those knee deep flats. You know the ones where stingrays always hang out!!!!!!!!......

Im pretty sure he must have sight cast to it or the blowies would have torn his bait to shreds quickly

Reckoned he was after Makos (leave you to put in your own swear words) So anyhow he's got this poor bloody stingray on it's back out of the water...I volunteer that it may be best to cut his line and release the poor thing to which he replies that someone has gone to got some pliers (No pliers with him! ) and that they can survive for 15 mins out of the water so she'll be right......Eventually the pliers arrive and this chap saves his hook and wire then he gaffs the ray in the wing again to the groans of onlooks and flips it over and with help from some samaritans he get it into  it into 6" of water where It just does'nt even move an inch........Im assuming it was DEAD..........I left at that point because if i stayed i reckon i might have seen how long he could hold his breath for......

Maybe iv'e been spoilt with a reasonable fishing life.....but I cannot understand why people want to hook or stuff around with stingrays and shovelnose sharks. I think they should be put on the protected species list.

Some of my highlights of the last few years.

Going to be busy for a few months so won't be any reports of my catches for a while until me new dive gear gets here.

Just going through some of my photos and looking over some of the amazing fish I've caught and the fun I've had.

still have some gear left for sale in the for sale section.

Abrohlos - favorite anchorage spots

Hi all,

I'm lucky enough to be heading off to the islands tomorrow morning for a one nighter but I've only got my "usual" anchorage spot. i've seen some really nice shots of where people stop for the night and am going to look around a bit more this time.

We will be hanging around the bottom island as it's a short trip.

Anyone willing to let me know of a bueat overnight spot at all? In the stabi, so can get in pretty shallow and anchor over shallow or sand near beaches without concerns.

Cheers

Pre rigged skirts

Hi all,

I have purchased some pre rigged skirts for my Exmouth trip and have noticed a loop at the end of the heavy mono leader.  Being new to all this, how do I connect my main line to that loop? (knot?, clip?)

Thank you

Chris

Cheynes Beach

Hey Guys and Girls....

Heading down to cheynes next weekend, will be fishing the rocks for salmon during the day but was wondering has any body had any luck fishing the beach at night for small sharks or mullys??   Not to keen on fishing the rocks at night down that way but just wondered if it was worth trying or better off just drinking haha..

Before anyone says it i have used the search button and google for the last 2 hours with almost no results for the beach there......maybe because its not worth it ..

Cheers any feed back would be much appreciated....         Belly

Five Fathom

Heh guys,

Planning to try anchor and burleying off the back of the five fathom on Sunday for first time.

Would appreciate any tips on safety when anchored in this area. My main concern is being anchored on the back of the bank and swell coming through etc.

Cheers!

( PS I have a 5.3 m glass cuddy cab and 55m rope/reef anchor )

Help freighting Kayak Perth to Broome

Hi Guys,

My replacement AI hull has arrived in Perth and now I need to get it freighted to Broome.

The original suffered from the dreaded drivewell crack problem but Hobie was good enough to replace the hull ex-gratis even though it was out of warranty.

Has anyone got a suggestion on an economical way of getting it up here? It needs to be picked up from Canningvale.

TIA, Brett.

Dollies at Perth FADs

Hi all,

I've been reading a few of the reports on here about Dollies at the Perth FAD's and am thinking about heading out this weekend.

Are there any FADs in particular which are hot at the moment? Or does it change day to day?

What is working the best for dollies - live baits, soft plastics, skirts?

Cheers!

Kalbarri at this time of year?

Hi guys, heading up to Kalbarri for the holidays and I was wondering what there is to catch at this time of year. We will be taking the boat up so where are some good areas to troll/bottom bounce ect. Also are there any mullys/tailor around land based and what's there to catch from the jetty. As a side note, is ballooning for sharks/mackeral at this time of year any good? Cheers, Snapper_seeker
