Snapper around ATM?

fishos

Got a family member coming over this week and wanted to take them out for a quick fish Friday arvo / night. Just wondering if there are any snapper in close atm? I’ve been fishing off ledge lately but not metro. If anyone could tell me if they are around in close, I don’t mind travelling from woodies to mindarie as long as I can hook them up with a decent fish haha

cheers guys!

Tamala Station advice

Hey guys, heading up to Tamala camping at Baba Head next week.

Last year we spent a week there at a similar time, caught plenty

of Pinky’s but none over 70cm. We fished various areas out

between the islands but didn’t venture any further.

Has anyone been recently or has a bit of experience there and

could give any advice on how to find some larger models? TIA

Exmouth Deep Drop Oddballs

Just been up in Exmouth for 2 weeks and got a few fish we have never caught before. I think I know what they all are, but lets see how you guys go.

The first one was taken in approx. 100m, the rest over 200.

Furuno 627 transom mount

Hi guy.. just after some advise if I may please. I have a 18ft ranger runabout 1978 fibreglass boat. I purchased a furuno 627 sounder and have tried to install the transom mount on the port side of my hull will little success. I get reading at 10 knots but any faster I can’t read the bottom at all. I have been looking at google videos on installing but not getting any help from the videos. Can anyone assist in helping me with a video or letting me know on where to place it or how far from the motor, on a flat surface below the hull face etc on the particular hulls? I also have a HD’s 5 mounted on the star bird side but the also reads bad at speed. I have also tried moving the transom transducers around as well. I have a 90merc on the back too. Any help would be most great as I would like to continue to transom side mount them. Cheers Don

Biomaster FB spool change?

 Gday everyone,

just wondering if if anyone knows if I’m able to run a 5000 sized spool on a shimano biomaster FB 4000? Wouldn’t mind a bit of extra line capacity but don’t really want to fork out for a new reel if I don’t have to!

cheers

engine covers

hey guys..
just after some advice.
taking the boat on a road trip, and was wondering whether people thought it was a good idea to get an engine cover? I wasn't sure if they were ok to have on while trailering at speed or whether they just create more problems? or would it just be better to get a splash cover which I can leave on while using the boat?
if anyone has any other tips about trailering boats on long trips, would be greatly appreciated!
cheers

Sharks in coral bay

Hey guys just wondering what the sharks are like this year in coral bay? Anyone got any advice to get reds past them?

Thanks in advance

anyone cray diving this week?

hi guys , anyone cray diving this week? i lost my no2 Sarca on Saturday at my regular winter pinky spot in 13m south west  of Hillarys - this spot must be loaded with crays judging by the amount we have caught as bycatch even during daylight hours on lines. will compensate you $50 for your efforts - and youll get a good cray/pink spot to boot , i have lost 4 anchors there over the last few years but i want my sarca back! i cant take you in the barcrusher as im busy the next 2 weekends, hoping someone is heading out this week/weekend.

Ocean Reef Waste Water Treatment Plant

For those North of the river that think it is only Cockburn effected by sewerage outfalls think again, Ocean Reef pipeline runs approx 1.5 klm offshore, the annual report from Water Authority that shows the sampling process which is actually 1 day in the year has published the charts below. You don't need to be a scientist to know that anything over the acceptable threshold is unacceptable. I have written to the premier and minister for water for explanations on why this is allowed at Point Peron, you may want to have a look at the annual report and do the same for your areas. You may ask why is this not reported well when it is average out againts multiple sample points and average it is at an acceptable level.

So if you think the algal blooms are natural I am not so sure these plants have been operating for a long time.

For us guys south of the river I will post later today.

Pb mulloway

Fish Id

Fish Id please caught in 170 off Exmouth

Mulloway off the tub, Dunsborough

So ive never caught a mulloway off the boat and its a big grey area for me so im just curious if anyone has any knowledge of fishing for them around dunsborough area? What ground/depth should i look for? But most importantly what are the rough survival rates for released fish, as most of my fishing is catch and release i don't want to target something that won't survive.

Exmouth - April School holidays 2018

Gday guys, It is a bit sad that once again our annual family camping / fishing trip to Exmouth has come and gone... We had 12 nights in Exmouth, and experienced some of the best weather we have ever had. We got out in the boat 5 times - all in the bottom of the gulf. The other days were spent at Yardie Creek on the SUP, at Coral Bay, Bundegi, Sandy Bay, and just relaxing.. We had a look for prawns, but couldn’t find any - even though others were getting a few on different days, got a few Blue Manna crabs, and caught plenty of fish trolling. I dived most days, but a lot of the time couldn’t see the end of the spear, so ended up with only  1 Bluebone...

We spent a few dollars on a Oztrail Shade Max 4.8 gazebo, a Tropicool Evaporative Cooler for the tent, and an Otentik beach shelter - these were all worth the dollars to keep things comfortable!!

Also, the 3 reels that I use (a Saragossa 14000, a Calcutta 400, and a Sustain 5000) were all bought over the last few years secondhand from Fishwrecked members - so thank you to those members as they all perform faultlessly!!

Anyway, here are a few pics!

cray fishing in exmouth

Hey guys.
heading up to Exmouth on the 11th and was wondering what the deal is regarding snorkelling for crays up there? from what I understand you get mainly painted crays...r these still good to eat? was planning to snorkel with a snare, but cant seem to find much info on the rules as to whether this is allowed? also is there much of an issue with sharks?
cheers!

Fishing off Mandurah

 Hello to all

Pretty new to the Boat fishing world, I know its a question that not a lot of people like to answer but where are some good spots off Dawesville to catch some fish, do I need to go far out or just fish the reefs and find me some fish.

Out of date flares

 Hi Gents,

I have a requirement for out of date flares. I'm a licenced skydive display organiser and I use these during display parachute jumps into the city.

I have 2 skydiving loads tomorrow and probably have enough for that but could use some more and am looking to increase my stock levels.

If you have mored than you need as spares, I' be keen to get hold of some and am in need of the inshore type hot flares and the hand held smokes from either inshore or off shore kits.

I don't really have a need for the rockets (could use them to shoot at jumpers doing the wrong thing)

Give me a yell if you can help me out (PM), North of river.

Tomorrow - Early 3 mile or in close.

What's everyone doing tomorrow? Thinking of my usual routine and hit the Hillary's gap at 5am for a snapper bash but the swell is very close to my cut off of 2.5m. Gets the adrenaline pumping in the dark when you can hear the swell around you but can not see a thing. Might chicken out and stay in close.....

Friday Funnys

Hydrofoils? Are they worth having?

 Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

Considering purchasing one of these https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/osborne-park/boat-accessories-parts/hydrofoil-se-sport-300-black/1126572794?utm_source=transactional&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=shared_ad

There are some big claims for such a simple device. Anyone have some opinions on them?
Cheers
