Swan River (Belmont) Multanova Boat Speeding Cam
Submitted by SpotHound on Wed, 2018-04-04 18:08Bloke I know took his ex partner's new (second hand) boat (registered in her name) and their son out in the river, minus her of course.
The ex wife then got a notice in the mail from Dept of Transport , asking her to identify the driver of the boat within 21 days or she is deemed to be the speeding driver and gets the fine.
Notice says " Belmont Camera" on it. No name for the fining officer other than "W29" on the form.
The guy admits to speeding upstream of the ski area, as he claims he can't work out where the ski area finishes :( Neither he or his son have a skippers ticket.
Anyone else heard of this happening before ? I remember seeing a newspaper about this years ago, but thought it had never actually happened.
I told him he will get two fines once they work out he has no skippers ticket.

How much leader?
Submitted by Ethan A on Tue, 2018-04-03 20:32Hi Guys
Today l just bought some Black Magic 40lb supple trace leader and spooled up my brand new daiwa legalis 5000 spin reel with 30lb Daiwa j-braid? My first question is how much leader do l use for casting out stickbaits l have heard that you should have enough so when you are casting your finger is on the mono leader as the braid can fray up from your finger rubbing on the braid is that true or should l just use 30 or 40cm of leader so my leader knot is not running through the guides? Next question how many wraps on the FG knot should l use when connecting 30lb braid to 40lb black magic leader?
Thanks

Nice day out on the water
Submitted by hilly9 on Tue, 2018-04-03 18:39I finally got out to chase some demersals today. One third of the way through the year and the weather and free time has not matched up. The conditions off Mandurah were near perfect . As always I was totally out fished by my deckie who bagged a nice dhu and the biggest baldie I've seen. Lots of fillets in the freezer equals one happy wife.

Exmouth bottom bashing
Submitted by Gonad Man on Thu, 2018-03-29 12:18Hey guy’s,
Heading to Exy from the 16th for a few weeks fishing. Haven’t been up that way for years but have heard the sharks are pretty well plague proportions out around the Murion Islands these days? Used to do well around there 10+ years ago but thinking I might need a new plan this time around. Thinking of targeting ruby’s out deep, can anyone provide depths, best baits and general location to start? Will be based at the marina but not too worried about spending a few days on the west side if need be, likewise not concerned with travelling big distances out from the islands as being from the south a 70km + run each way is pretty well the norm.
Also thinking of venturing over to Peak and Long Island to try bottom bouncing for reds, rankin etc but have never fished that region before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Not looking for gps marks or your secret spots just what area, depths etc to start in around there would be great. PM me if your not willing to divulge to the public.
Thanks in advance for any info shared. Will post up a report post trip!

Easter Salmon?
Submitted by Browndog on Wed, 2018-03-28 19:25Hi FW Crew, was wondering if there had been any regular sightings of salmon in the sound yet? Got my brother and his young bloke staying with me for a couple of days and was hoping to take them out and get their arms stretched, would be launching from Palm beach or Point Peron. Heard they were firing at the jetty a couple of weeks back but haven't heard of any since.
Cheers guys.

Rod Recommendations for Jigging
Submitted by stickface on Tue, 2018-03-27 12:44Hi All,
I'm keen to have a serious crack at jigging for demersals, I mainly fish 40 metres to 90 metres depth.
Have picked up a few good fish on jigs, but now want to set up a dedicated outfit for jigging.
What is everyone using ?
I would probably use the Stella 6000 that I already own, and want to match a good rod to it.
What do you recommend ? Are there better choices than the 6000 Stella ?
Any info appreciated.
Cheers
