Lowrance Dropping Tracks
Submitted by Matty Mac on Mon, 2018-02-19 10:19I have a HDS7 and am finding that after a few KM's it drops off the track and starts again.
Is there a setting I need to check? Have had a good look but can't seem to find the issue.
Help would be really appreciated.

Submitted by Curndog on Mon, 2018-02-19 08:37Hi fellas,
just wondering if anyone out there has a hydrofoil 400 se. Comes with disc grips so don’t have to drill holes. Thinking of getting one rather than the 300 se to help Boat stay on plane at low speeds. Any feedback would be great. Throwing it on a 60hp merc

Boat motor "service"
Submitted by bigmick on Mon, 2018-02-19 05:59Picked up my boat last week after in being in for it's 100 service. After being unable to start it and investigation this is the condition I found the fuel filter and sparkplugs in. I would've thought that both the fuel filter and sparkplugs would be replaced.

Friday bash
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2018-02-18 21:05So the decision was made to hit it Friday and the wind and weather gods were smiling. Was a weird current with the light winds going one one and the current the other but you soon adapt. The morning was slow until around 11 when I finally nailed a good fat Baldy that kept chasing my bait when I time the hit perfectly and hooked him up. Quite once again with lots of pickers so decided to rig up a small Wrasse rig to get a couple up for bait, well as Murphy's law will have it drop the line down on my lightest kit a couple of little nibble and whack! Big fish on size 3 hook and a bit of Occy the size of half a prawn. Anyway slowly but surely started to gain some ground on the big boy before he spat the hook (edit the feet stamping tantrum lol) Anyway the bugger was hungry and hit my other heavier set up, no get away on that one as I made sure the hooks were set. Don't you just love that first colour and the silver flash knowing you have a cranking Banger on. Just a smick over 10kg. Days Bag 2 Baldies, 2 Dhue and 5 crays Happy days!

Mackerel Islands......
Submitted by Robpado on Sat, 2018-02-17 13:56Gday All,
After info/ stories from people that have taken their own boats and stayed on Thevenard or Direction islands and have first hand experience about the place.... I usally fish exmouth and surrounding areas when i head north a couple times a year but have been thinking of doing a week around these islands. Seems like a good spot looking at maps, charts and photos but it actually fish well? How much do they sting you for fuel on the island as the accomodation is pretty pricey too.
Any info is much appreciated.
Cheers
Rob

Crays in the South West
Submitted by black gen on Thu, 2018-02-15 15:17 Just wondering if anyone would be willing to point us in the right direction for crays in pots in the South West.
Currently in busso but planning to launch old dunsborough way and head around the cape and pot somewhere there.
ny ideas on bait that is more suited to down this way or things we should be aware of.
Certianly not asking for spots just a generic bit of info would be helpful as we have some of an idea at present.
Have they started walking back in shallower yet?
Cheers

Yardie Creek..
Submitted by cruzy111 on Thu, 2018-02-15 11:08Just an update on Yardie creek crossing for anyone headed up this way. It is now the worst it has been in years for launching any boat bigger than a dinghy other than the top of a big tide. Vehicles are now crossing on low tides but it is hit and miss as to how boggy it is. Ive seen a few go accross and It was dodgy at best. It will probably seal over in the next few months if we get no rain. Launching on the northern side beach isnt possible as the tiny channel runs right up against the northern dune and its like quicksand. It has been a mission surfing lately even with a 10ft tinny.

Computer based GPS program
Submitted by black gen on Thu, 2018-02-15 08:43Gday everyone
Just wondering if anyone uses a program on their computer to house all of their marks i guess as a backup to the GPS but also to input many at a time and see where they all are.
Navionics type isnt ideal as i have to manually input them, i was more hoing someone has a program you can load in as many as you like at once and get a visual on where they are all located.
thanks
Jess

sea surface temps
Submitted by scotto on Thu, 2018-02-15 06:50yo,
what sites are you blokes using for your sea surface temperatures these days? most of the ones that are easy to find aren't detailed enough, can't be zoomed in, or are out of date.

great white numbers , another guess
Submitted by hezzy on Wed, 2018-02-14 12:27fun piece below on the way stats can be used or misread when it suits the political agenda
In other words, we could be witnessing a huge explosion in shark numbers from the high estimations of juveniles in the east coast genetic testing.
Juvenile great whites are often found closer to shore than adults and have been involved in a big number of “curiosity” attacks when they interact with humans.
We would be silly to be lulled into a false sense of security that there are only 1460 great whites off the WA southern and western coast when there actually may well be 10,000 or more.
Research by the University of NSW on juvenile great whites found their jaws did not develop power until they mature, meaning they existed on fish until about 3m, then moved on to mammals. “This study also explains why many shark attacks off NSW by great whites are aborted after a single bite, as those involved are usually juveniles who may sustain jaw injury if they persevere with the attack,” study co-author Dr Vic Peddemors told Australian Geographic in 2011.
But such a bite from a 3m shark can be catastrophic for a human. Juvenile great whites may not intend to be people killers — but they are.
And they are off our beaches in very big numbers.
This new CSIRO research is not the good news that the shark huggers are suggesting.

Fur/Animals as Cray bait....
Submitted by timboon on Tue, 2018-02-13 21:48So yesterday on the way home from work we were looking for a fresh bit of RK for cray bait as i thought i'd run outa Dhu/Snapper/Nanny heads....
Pulled up along side a minging Wallaby that filled the cab with fumes so off we took, another 20kms we found a freshish skip so we did a U'e and pulled up along side....
First thing i noticed was a yellow info tag on its rear leg, I assumed someone had either done a joey check after they hit it or someone else has seen it and done a Joey check so either way someone has done the righty and let concerned passers by know that the Roo did'nt have a little one in the pouch.......
But........
No......
In fact what the tag said was worth a photo,
ID on the tag - The Roo Tamer
Job no. - 001
Incident that occured - Failed to look left, failed to look right and failed to look left again!!
I shit you not some bastard has taken the time to pull up and fill out an info tag with the above info on it!!!
Anyway, we lopped the tail off and off we went....
So this morning i went to check the pots and some mother fucker seems to have taken them or pulled and moved them but regardless they arent where i left them!!
On the way out ( bush track down south ) we bumped into the Fisheries, i couldnt help but tell my Roo story to them....
That got me thinking why is it illegal for ammos to use critters as bait?
I get the whole fur/export $$ thing for pros but why cant i use fluffy from next door should he cross the wrong side of his sanctuary?
Two part question.... Did anyone here hit Skippy after he failed to look both ways and secondly why can't ammos use furry critters for bait?
I eagerly await your reply!!

SCAMMER ON FW
Submitted by scotto on Mon, 2018-02-12 08:11All, beware there is a scammer lurking about on FW. yesterday, I received a text message form a mobile number, saying he'd seen my post on FW asking for a sounder. he asked if I wanted to buy a HDS9 gen 3, with nav card, for $450. firkin good deal I thought. I agreed to the sale, and only after that did he mentioned he is located in Bunbury. I asked if he comes to Perth, to which he said he doesn't, and we then agreed to transfer money and he would post it. I then asked him to send some photos of the unit, of which he did. a few minutes later, I did a quick google, to see what a HDS9 gen 3 looked like, and BANG, up pops the same pictures off a eBay ad! the cunt was trying to scam me... I hit him up straight away, saying his photos are off ebay, and to send more photos, etc, and then..... SILENCE. no response. GONE COLD. I now see he is trying to flog off a HOOK9 on Fishwrecked this morning. his user name is Davidgham, he has only been a member for 1 day, and his phone number is 0411 260 445. he is now saying he lives in Albany (not Bunbury). I also have his bank account number, and he is getting reported to the cops. beware peeps. save the number in your phone. these cunts do exist.

Mackie Lures
Submitted by devhay on Fri, 2018-02-09 15:48G'day guys, trying to target a metro mackie this season and just wondering what everyones goto lures are for them?
I cant rig a bait to swim to save my life.. so we usually have a mixed spread of skirts on top and some shallow and deep divers, have been doing well on tuna so far this season but no sign of a mackie yet
have been heard good things about the Rapala deep divers, just wondering if there are any others worth trying?
Cheers
