Long story short I turned off my bait freezer to elimate the source of my power tripping and forgot to turn it back on. That was Sunday and I only realised today when I walked into the garage and smelt evil. I've got a kg bunch of Shorecatch tuna heads that I bought for a crabbing trip that I'd hate to go to waste so if I can stomach using them will they still be ok to use or will they in fact be more effective?

Looking forward to a few days fishing down at Walpole- love the rivermouth and estuary fishing down there. Got plenty of squid for bait,so I'm hoping the whiting are on the bite! But has anyone come back from there recently, and have any latest updates with drop nets for crabs? Thanks. Cheers.

from the minister this morning... Sharing recreational bag limits on boats - it just makes sense Thursday, 25 January 2018 - Regulations will be drafted to allow fishers on boats to pool their catches
- To share bag limits, fishers will need to be actively involved in the fishing
- A common sense approach that removes complexity and confusion
Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly has approved the drafting of regulations to allow recreational fishers to share bag limits when fishing from boats. This coming change to Western Australia's fishing rules represents a common sense approach that recognises existing recreational fishing practices and is aimed at simplifying the rules. Importantly, this change will enable fishers to legally share catch from rock lobster pots. Under the existing legislation for example, a licensed recreational rock lobster fisher can only retain eight rock lobsters from the pot with their gear ID attached. No further lobster can be retained from that pot. The new arrangements will allow more than one bag limit of rock lobster to be retained from a single pot provided there are other licence holders onboard. Other examples of sharing bag limits include fishing for blue swimmer crabs or line fishing for scalefish such as whiting and herring - where the combined catch is placed in a single icebox. The formal process required to change the rules will need to take place. It is anticipated the new regulations will be gazetted by mid-2018. In the meantime, compliance officers will be taking the proposed change into account when they are checking fishing activity. Comments attributed to Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly: "It just makes sense for recreational fishers sharing a day out on a boat to share their catch, provided the boat limit or the applicable combined bag limit is not exceeded. "Following concerns raised by Recfishwest that existing catch regulations for licensed fishers onboard vessels are confusing, I was keen to find a way to simplify the rules.

Anyone fishing the heavy tackle comp, we would love to but I'm busy adding to the family. Is looking like it could be a big one with good consistent fishing lately and sounds like there is a good field of about 30 or more boats already signed up. Hopefully the weather is a bit better than forecast so they can get a at least a couple of good days out wide.

My job has brought me to rockhampton in the QLD, and we are eager to fish. We tried a beach spot today with limited time, and no result near a place called Rosslyn Marina. After having a decent few mullo in Perth this year I am really excited to try hunt black jewfish and also tuna and mackeral from the stones. Im not begging for spots, but some tips from anyone who has had a crack up this way before would be great. I fish clipped pulley rigs with mulies on my large rod with a small rod and handline with running rigs for smaller edibles. We plan to fish Five Rocks on Friday when we have some spare time to do a proper mission, and im optimistic for some larger fish in deeper water. On a humourous note i spent forever trying to fish easterlys in perth with a few days here and there and i come to the other end of the country to find nothing but E's right in my face

On Friday after checking the weather I decided there was enough of a window to do a quick trip to Lancelin and take my 12 yr son out in the tinny for a demersal bash. We left home around 4 am and launched just after 6 heading out through the hole in the wall and making a beeline for an area I had fished previously in 26mts. We commenced the drift and his first drop with a 100gm jig came up solid but he dropped the fish.
We went back for a second drift and he again came up solid this time to his firt jig caught baldy
We continued to fish for the next couple of hours until the Southerly was cranking. We didn't manage a 4 fish bag out but did mange 3 nice baldies with Liam catching the bulk of them and Dad (me ) having a bad day and dropping any decent fish I hooked. All he Kept doing was throwing my own line back at me "that's why its called fishing and not catching".......Cheeky little shit

Hi new to all this .. I purchased a 4.5 M Aluminium boat with a 50 hp mercury motor .. My Question is can it get to Rottnest. And if it can what is the best time.. Might seem pretty silly questions to experienced boating community but when you a first entry owner you depend on the advise of experienced anglers and boaters
Just added a photo of the boat .. took me awhile to learn ..Lol

If anyone on here has a pot placed around 300m NW of the gap at Hillarys with a bright orange rope you've lost your float and the rope is floating on the surface. I ran over it yesterday but saw it just in time to cut the engine. We tried to tie a bottle to it but it was already blowing 15 knots and we were near the reef and the wind waves were standing up on us so decided it was too dangerous.

Hi guys, Just trying to get a gauge on some fishing locations or pretty much any tips or tricks when fishing Wyndham area. Will be heading that way for work in the near future and have some time to explore a few rivers and creeks. I will not have a boat for the start but may have the opportunity to freight one up in the near future if i think it will be worth it. I understand it is a pretty broad topic but I have never been there nor have I got any idea where to start. Any advice is welcome and encouraged. Cheers guys.

Hey Peeps. I have had a massive break from fishing other than deep sea fishing which i love but i cant keep going out on charters because ill be bankrupt before i know it. I just wanting to see if there are any groups of peeps out there that go fishing on regular basis that wouldnt mind a chick tagging along to help me get back up to speed seeing i have been M.I.A the last 5 years or so and cant remember anything. Unfortunateky i dont know anyone with a boat and im hopeless at casting so thinking some jetty based stuff is the best for me to get back into it. Probably why i only really seem to be good at deep sea fishing. Actually would love to give squidding another crack too. Or advice on locations for a new newbie to landbased fishing would be heaps handy. Thanks in advance everyone
