 Headed out yesterday with a late start due to the howling easterly. Drifted out through some shallow ground managed a couple of dhuies at 62 and 68 a baldy and some big fat king George. Great day out with the lads on AnnaGerl 

 There was a big carve up this morning at the beach, bonito were smashing all the pilchards right on the shore . can't believe how warm the water is atm

 Sometimes, for whatever reason, you just aren't able to get out for awhile.

So myself, I'm happy to find an interesting and unusual fishing based book.

 Ok my mates left his boat at my place to install his furuno 588 and tm260 .Im wanting to try out tranny position by taking it for a run. Problem being he took the head unit home to bunbury on the weekend doh.  Then tells me tonight hes off to work for 3 weeks so l cant get the head unit.

Would my 585 work on the 588 power cord. They look the same. I just dont want to stuff my 585 if its not compatible.

 heading to Exmouth in a few weeks and will be spending 90% of the time trolling for billfish out from tantabiddi - just before Gamex. Been doing this for a number of years and love catching billies . 

One thing that's on my bucket list is a Ruby . Never targeted or caught one before . Was hoping to have a drop this year if we see anything on the sounder . We have electric reels so depth not a problem . 

My questions are , what should I be looking for on the sounder - lumps , drop offs , or just fish .

is there a particular depth that they hang out ? , was thinking the 300mtr line would be a good start.

knife jigs or bait ?

Am I in the right location if fishing the west side straight out from Tantabiddi . 

Not asking for gps spots ( although that would be great lol ) but a general area to keep an eye out would be apreciated .

 Mackies, want one Metro, i dont get alot of time to get out, when they are around its my busy time of year. Asking for locations to troll guys, I know its a lot to ask someone whos put in the time and effort to find the fish, I ve only managed about 7 hrs of trolling in 4 years with a few hookups a big miss and some small tuna.

I would love to get out and know where im heading, thing is Im a single dad, work during the week and have my daughter every weekend exept one Sunday every two weeks, of course all the gods, wind, etc have to line up for me to get a good crack at it on the one day I can if i manage to get out.

I have a 5.5 Fiberglass cuddy, 90litres fuel so depending how much trolling not a huge range, I launch from Woodies.

 Hi Guys, I know Ive seen it on here and cant find the link to the mobile outboard service guy on fishwrecked, as my mate in Guilford wants his boat serviced, but cant get it in to the dealer due to work commitments.

Does anyone know of a mobile outboard Mech that can service a Tohatsu 40hp out in Guilford for him?

3 weeks ago we headed out to the HYC FAD, we were about a kilometre from it and as I came off a wave I heard a loud crack from the back of the boat. Brother turns around and as he's looking towards the back of the boat he says "Oy was that f@#$%n big crack there before"? I turned to see a crack running horizontally straight across the transom at the lowest point where the outboard was bolted on below the water line and water was coming in! Luckily the bilge pump was pumping out faster than water coming in then real slow nervous trip home. Anyway saw GT fibreglass mentioned on here on a previous forum and Greg at GT fibreglass did me a brand new full transom (original completely rotted out) and suggested filling hull with full foam floatation which I did and he went over the hull patched here and there and beefed up the keel at a bloody good price. Took it out yesterday afternoon from Hillarys, was rough as guts out there other side of three mile and boat felt completely different, sits higher in the water and powers into the waves much better than before! bloody wrapped! good on ya Greg!

However I got in touch with spotters regarding a decal/logo that had fallen out of the arm of my sunnies.. Sent an email with a general inquiry regarding how I would purchase replacements..

sent the email yesterday, got a reply first thing this morning and they're posting them out to me free of charge.. Legends!!

Hey all, chasing down some Sabre/seeker rod blanks or even old sabre rods in the Grafast models - half graphite composite/half eglass.

They come in a honey/mustad colour  - which start out at the blank in a dark charcoal colour then around midle of blank the graphite transistions in to either honey musta/colour or continues all the way through in the charcoal black colour.

they stopped production of these blanks/rods along time ago but trying to see if any one out there has any old Grafast sabre seeker rods or blanks

Can any one put me in the right direction of some one who has any or would possibly have any as i build my own rods and these are a favourite rod of mine.

have added some photos to show what they look like.

 A craypot has been found washed up on Carnac. Bloke is posting it on gumtree. Initials start with RG????. If you dont fingd his number on gumtree i still have it. He contacted fisheries and they dont know the number, but there is a story to that. I think she is blonde.

My mate caught a couple of chinamon out off Point Samson today. When he fileted the fish it had orange marks between the skin and the fillet. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what it may be.

So late next month we embark on our first trip to the Abrolhos Islands, Ive been doing alot of research and reading stories from all the guys that have been over to the Islands and picked up a lot of good points and tips. We are planning to go anywhere up to about 6 days over there depending on weather of course.

I wanted to see if anyone could give me any tips on where to go snorkelling.. Wouldnt mind getting a cray!! Also can anyone tell me can you get reds at the back of the island in 80 - 90 metres? I have heard that you can but cant find too much info

I am heading down to albany on the week end and looking for some early salmon and i don't know any of the good beach fishing spots, and yes i know their are heaps but not all catch fish.

So if anyone could tell me some of their spots that would be great.

 Going to have a crck for a lb maky tomorro but cant make up my mind wear i was thinking quinns but checking down coburn sound the water seems to be a bit warmer not chasing a specific spot just a bit of info on if theres been bait or birds around to help make my mind up

got my first fishing charter next weekend with port bouvard charters. ive done a bit of research and theres clearly some mixed opinions of this and other charters in the metro area. so mabye avoid that discussion, its a birthday voucher and i intend to make the most of it.

anyways ive read i can bring my own rod and reel but being that ive never been deep see fishing im curious as to whether my combo is suitable. i have a shimano 8000D baitrunner on a terez 15-30lb rod with 30lb braid, i was going to put a few meters of 40-60lb leader. i find the combo overkill for the shallow water snapper ive caught at shark bay and prefer to use a lighter outfit for these but ive never targeted or caught dhus etc. will this be heavy enough to use out deep without causing to many tangles with the other fishos?

also do they provide everything as stated? hooks, leader, swivels, sinkers, all the small things that make a big difference, just dont want to get all the way out there and find something missing. i trust the charter will do their best ot put us on fish but as i said, id like to make the most of it. any advice on this or something i may have overlooked would be appreciated.

Was down at the Swan last night going for Mulloway and had the rod in the holder get absolutely smashed. Whole rod was going nuts for 5seconds or so as I grabbed the rod. There was a good amount of weight then a big splash on the surface and the hook came out!

Just wondering if anyone has had that before and what it could have been? We assumed a Mulloway with the hectic nature of the take plus the amount of bouncing of the rod tip.. but wouldn't have thought they come up to the surface to shake the head and get the hook out? Water would have been 5m deep or more and the bait was on the bottom with a sinker. Didn't feel ray like at all and there was no damage to the snelled hooks either so not sure on the Bull Shark likelihood. 

Curious to see if it's happened to anyone else before? We were only there a few hours and that was the only action we got.. the one that got away! :( Makes me thankful for the couple that I have managed to get in that's for sure!

Over the next couple of months, I plan on keeping an eye on the weather and possibly making a couple of weekend trips north of Perth with the boat in tow from Mandurah. Boat is a 5.6m Quinnie Classic.

Would love some peoples opinions on their favourite places to head north of Perth for a weekend of fishing.

Would probably head as far north as Dongara for a weekend.

Places that I am interested in are, Lancelin, Cervantes, Jurien, Green Head, Leeman and Dongara.

Things I am interested in are ease of boat launch, how far to travel to get to decent ground and other activities in the area (surf would be nice)

I have only visited Dongara when 10 or 11 years old and Grey a couple of times around 10 years ago so any advice is welcome!!

Hi is anyone out there running the Garmin 7410xsv. I have just bought a new boat fibreglas Allisoin 24 foot and want to put good electronics in it. Have looked at the Hondex and Furono sounders and these Garmin units. This time l want to get it right the first time and not have  dramas and headaches. Using these units for deep fishing using  at least 1 kw transducers. Thanks for any imput.
