Collection of boat ramps.
Submitted by exile90 on Thu, 2021-10-28 22:51Hi guys , recently got a trailer build for my 28ft Shark cat which im towing with a NPR 300 (only RWD).The sharky has been on a Pen since owning it and the previous boat was a 18ft which could be launch pretty much anywhere.
Most of my fishing has been out of Bunbury , so ive had a few experiences with the local ramps.
Thought il start this topic which explains ramps abit better for the next guy from my experience so far with the long and heavy tri-axle
Currently ive launched and retrieved my boat with out any hassle from the Old BP boat ramps , No drop offs at the end and the 2wd truck had no issues pulling the 4.5ton load out.
Boat ramp near Parade hotel got a drop off about 3m into the water line , where once my rear axle when down it , i had to get a snatch from a 4x4 to get out, So requires a vehicle with 4x4 or best to avoid it for the longer / heavier boats.
It would be nice to hear from the guys with the heavier/longer boats which ramps to avoid and which ramp they enjoyed using.
Attached is the BP Ramp and Parade Ramp mentioned above
Thanks
Rudi

Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Thu, 2021-10-28 08:19Are there any members on here who know the proposed plans for the ORSSC in conjunction with the OR Marina redevelopment and will it be a similar setup to the CPBA with private launching facilities?

Long-range weather forecasting
Submitted by davewillo on Mon, 2021-10-25 10:56Hi all
Does anyone know a reasonably reliable long-range weather forecasting site? I'm not talking about knowing what the conditions will be like on a certain day months in advance just being able to predict trends etc. I'm trying to work out when to take time off in the new year but ideally don't want it to be blowing it's arse off every day!
Cheers

Outboard stand??
Submitted by Mitch Westy on Fri, 2021-10-22 13:01I've decided to give my old westerberg a birthday. Only thing left to do is pull the motor off before she goes in for some fab work and a paint job.
Has anyone got an outboard stand they've made up in the past that they could let go for a few weeks. Will pay in beers. I have a 115 hp fourstroke Merc so it needs to be fairly solid. Thought I'd try my luck before making one myself, one of those things I'll only use once then it will collect dust in the shed. located SOR.
Cheers

North Lefroy- Ningaloo Station
Submitted by saltyseamen on Tue, 2021-10-12 19:05Hey Crew,
Have searched the site and read heaps of good info so far, particularly from Ranmar.
Heading North Lefroy Easter next year and have stayed at Winderabandi before so know the place ok.
Few questions
1. Am I able to beach launch at North Lefroy? 6.1m Genesis.
2. Am I able to anchor/ moore the boat up in the bay. Ideally in front of our camp.
3. Any other tips and tricks or important info for heading up that way. Well aware of the road in and how relentless it can be!!
Cheers.

Screen shot
Submitted by Ericl on Mon, 2021-10-11 19:40Came across a spot out of Hillaries a while back. Sounder totally lights up. On Sunday, at times we couldn't see the bottom, so thick at 8 metres that the bottom got lost. Passed this spot 3 times on my last 3 trips and has been much the same each time. We have pulled tailor, lots of US snapper, some decent King Wrasse for bait and the biggest NW Blowie I have ever seen. Has anyone else come across this type of sounder showing

Dinghy snap davits
Submitted by davewillo on Mon, 2021-10-11 15:36Hi all
I'm looking to get a snap davit system installed on my marlin board and new dinghy. These are what you see on a lot of boats so the inflatable dinghy can be clipped on one side and then just lifted on the other side so it's sitting on the edge of the marlin board. I have found where to buy them but want someone to fit everything too. I could probably fumble my way through but if I stuff it up I'd kick myself hard!
Does anyone have suggestions of who might be able to fit these? The supplier doesn't and neither does the Hillary Boat yard who have shipwrights. I'm at a loss and want to get it done when the boat comes out for service in 2 weeks. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers

VHF and 27MHz?
Submitted by plugga25 on Sun, 2021-10-10 15:54
G'day legends.
I got a VHF radio to put in my 5m Quintrex project boat.
It already has a 27MHz installed and I'm wondering on opinions.
Would it be worth having both radios or just go with the VHF?
Cheers
