Craypot tipper

 Hi

I have a pot tipper which seems like a reasonably common one. The tipper has a pivot point that sits close to the gunwhale and then above it there is a roller on which the rope runs when pulling a pot.

Quite a lot of force is still required when the top of the pot is in line with the roller to get the pot swung over and into the horizontal position.

I see there is another hole above the current roller position which I guess would be to allow the pot to get higher before needing to manually swing it

My question is (without moving it and trying it) would moving the roller make much difference to the effort required, and are there any negatives to doing that.
Cheers for any replies

Boat name decals?

 hey all

any recommendations for a Perth based company to produce and install boat name decals?

I have the design done, just looking for someone to tweak it and produce/ install on the boat- size of both are about 750 x 2200

I have contacted the site sponsor and they are only doing whole wraps

Someone who is good to deal with would be awesome- the few people Ive been in contact with over emails etc seem very... disinterested

Cheers in advance

Collection of boat ramps.

Hi guys , recently got a trailer build for my 28ft Shark cat which im towing with a NPR 300 (only RWD).The sharky has been on a Pen since owning it and the previous boat was a 18ft which could be launch pretty much anywhere.

Most of my fishing has been out of Bunbury , so ive had a few experiences with the local ramps.

Thought il start this topic which explains ramps abit better for the next guy from my experience so far with the long and heavy tri-axle

Currently ive launched and retrieved my boat with out any hassle from the Old BP boat ramps , No drop offs at the end and the 2wd truck had no issues pulling the 4.5ton load out.

Boat ramp near Parade hotel got a drop off about 3m into the water line , where once my rear axle when down it , i had to get a snatch from a 4x4 to get out, So requires a vehicle with 4x4 or best to avoid it for the longer / heavier boats.

It would be nice to hear from the guys with the heavier/longer boats which ramps to avoid and which ramp they enjoyed using.

Attached is the BP Ramp and Parade Ramp mentioned above

Thanks

Rudi

Long-range weather forecasting

 Hi all

Does anyone know a reasonably reliable long-range weather forecasting site? I'm not talking about knowing what the conditions will be like on a certain day months in advance just being able to predict trends etc. I'm trying to work out when to take time off in the new year but ideally don't want it to be blowing it's arse off every day!

Cheers

Crabbing out from Mindarie

Hi everyone, I am new to boat fishing here in Perth and in general. I just bought a 430 runabout. Looking at launching from Hillarys. My question is, is there any blue swimmer crabs to be caught out the from of Mindarie rhis time or year or are they all heading into the esturaies to breed?

Cheers

Outboard stand??

I've decided to give my old westerberg a birthday. Only thing left to do is pull the motor off before she goes in for some fab work and a paint job.

Has anyone got an outboard stand they've made up in the past that they could let go for a few weeks. Will pay in beers. I have a 115 hp fourstroke Merc so it needs to be fairly solid. Thought I'd try my luck before making one myself, one of those things I'll only use once then it will collect dust in the shed.  located SOR.

Cheers

Dropped a pot out from Hillary's with little luck. One of the closer reefs 6m deep.

They turn out brilliant .50/50 potatoe /fish. Corn kernels /peas/diced red onion /grated pizza perfect cheese/mixed herbs/bit of pepper . Mix all together . Make round balls out of them and shape them into bowl with Panko crumbs . Put in fridge to set. Shallow fry until crumbs go golden brown ( each side). Chips /salad and beer unreal

North Lefroy- Ningaloo Station

 Hey Crew,

Have searched the site and read heaps of good info so far, particularly from Ranmar.

Heading North Lefroy Easter next year and have stayed at Winderabandi before so know the place ok.

Few questions

1. Am I able to beach launch at North Lefroy? 6.1m Genesis.

2. Am I able to anchor/ moore the boat up in the bay. Ideally in front of our camp.

3. Any other tips and tricks or important info for heading up that way. Well aware of the road in and how relentless it can be!!

Cheers.
