i was a little north of the grain terminal in kwinana last night trying for sum tailor (which were not around) however we saw a cobbler eating our bait scraps on the shallows we tried every sized hook scraps of mulie which it was eating but he would not go for anything

can someone tell me what rig or bait to use or would it have been a one of?

also which spines are the poisinous ones?

has anyone had any luck using a surf popper with gang hooks on a paternoster rig before for targeting tailor? reding about them on the net and wondering how often they work.thanks

Went down to cockburn near the boat ramps on the beach side near the small wooden jetty

it was quiet as not a bit hit or anything others were fishing and same thing all quiet

hope the summer weather brings in some fish

ha i just got a new boat and wondering if there were any good fishing spots around five fathom bank. i would like to catch snaper and dew fish. also what are good times to go out

any suggestions would be a big help

Hi guys, just looking for up to date reports on b&b fish in the metro area and north. Preferably inshore but wandering what baitfish people are catching?

It seems a bit quiet for herring (migration) and even gardies now. Are there still plenty of yellowtail around? Any slimeys? Mullet?

So when fishing with others who are "BAIT" fishing, where is the best spot on the boat to be jigging from to avoid tangles? Obviously depends on the direction of the drift, but should you be infront or behind the bait fisho's line? Back corner of the boat or forward?

It amazed me when fishing 50ft away up the bow of a charter boat at the Abrolhos I still managed to tangle with the bait fisho 9 people down at the back of the boat!

Any advice?

hey goin to bremer bay at the end of february i nned to get a new rod and reel set i will fishin the esturie and doin land based fishin all over the place just wanting to no your reccomendations of what rod and reel to get or what type and and if any lures are good and the main fish to target is salmon and special lure and teqnice to catch em i have money to spend not goin over board.

what knots you peoples using to tie braid main to swivels?

ok guys and gals, i kno this topic has been dealt with many times before and i have looked on the site for info but i couldnt find much.

so i know how to tie the bimini, the question i would like answerd is:

what knot is the most practical knot to tie if i want to attach 40lb-60lb mono to my 10lb braid?

Just rang fisheries to see if I was allowed to target demersals during the ban on a catch and release bases. What a joke. The guy I spoke to wasn't aware of any ban this year or even last year. Thats right he wasn't aware there was a ban in place last year on demersals. So good news guys according to fisheries there isn't going to be a ban this year. If anyone can give me a contact number to speak to someone who knows what going on and not some peanut, would be much appreciated.

Ok fellas, coral bay has been cancelled, now its off to exmouth, unfornately we dont have a boat but i will be taking ballooning gear, where should I go? been there once before and oyster reef south of the mildura wreck looks very fishy! also where do the big GTs hang out around that way?

Hey guys next week end(long week end) i will be campin at these two places and i wanna know if anyone been there recently and if these places are producing atm? Anyone goin also let me know. I got no 4 wd which sucks  and dont kno much about the place, will prob just fish the river for bream and main beaches and hoepfulyl the mouth is open for some mulloway etc.

What is every one,s thoughts on braid for trolling i still use mono on my trolling reels up to 24 kg for bottom bashing and jigging braid all the way ??

just got a new vhf marine radio and was wondering if its a good idea to put it in yourself or get a proffesional job done and also my guy that services my johnson 115hp outboard is out of town for 2 months and need to get it done. anyone got any suggestions for a reasonably priced but quality service(dont want a cheap but dodgy service at all).

Anyone used both the platinum and the low stretch?

I have always used the platinum and rate it highly for a mid range mono with a fairly thin diamater. Im using the 50lb and thinking of making the switch to low stretch. the only thing stopping me is that its a little thicker. Platinum is .55 and i think low stretch is .6. Not a big difference but im wondering if it will be any harder to cast because of this.

Also is there any difference in knot strenth, abrasion resistance or anything else that anyone has noticed?

Hi guys, the weather isnt looking too bad on saturday so ill be taking the tub out on its maiden voyage after decking it out(3.8m stessco) it will be my first time out as the skipper and im just after any info anyone has on the 3 mile ie ground and technique ect. got a few jigs and macarthy SPs id like to test out also, ill be launching from mindarie. would be good to get into a few decent fish befor the demersal ban kicks in, any info would be awsome.

- Weekend metro fishing between Hilliarys and Rotto

- 2 weeks of the year I will be in Albany and would like to be able to fish 2 peeps and out near the the islands

- Must be able to tow to Albnay  with 4wd 2.8 ltr turbo diesel Hilux

- On the odd occsion take off up north and launch from beach.

Would this boat be able to to do those things?

I would like to give snapper fishing in Cockburn Sound a go and would just like to know where to start. I have a 4.5m Stacer, do I look for certain depths or holes or is sounding around to find fish the way to go. Any info will be appreciated.

How are these limits for blue mannas in South Oz.  Be interesting to know a bit more about the science behind those first two points.

Blue swimmer crab rules at a glance:

• Daily bag limit of 40 per person (combined limits with sand crabs).

• Daily boat limit of 120 (combined limits with sand crabs).

• A minimum size limit of 11cm width measured across the carapace from the base of the largest spines also applies.

• It is illegal to take female crabs with eggs. These must be returned to the water straight away without harm.

• Recreational crab fishers are not permitted to sell or trade their catch.

I've got an old savage scamp, 10ft (tiny beast) :D it needs an outboard, it had a 20 on it but thats siezed - im wondering if i can get 2 cheap low hp outboards(8-15hp) off gumtree and run duals or is that stupidity? how do you find out the transoms rating?
