cervantes tractors for beach retrival
Submitted by randall df223 on Tue, 2016-01-19 16:43Just a shout out to any cervantes members who have access to a tractor. I may be bringing my boat up for a weekend in Feb. Not 100% sure yet if we'll be fishing (weather dependant) and whilst i have a 4wd the trailer isnt set for beach retrival.
If anyone has access to a tractor there, can you pm me?

Ningaloo campout 2016
Submitted by Steve Burkin on Tue, 2016-01-19 16:23Hello everyone,
A few friends and I have to decided to head up for the comp this year for the first time. we have a small boat and a tinnie.
As this is my first encounter in the deep blue so far north I am a little worried my gear may be on the lighter side.
I plan on taking: Gomoku erito with Biomaster 4000fb (15lb)(SP's and light jigging)
Demon blood 60-3/4 with Daiwa Lexa 400 (30lb)(SP's and jigging)
Jigwrex PE3 with spheros 8000 (30lb)(SP's and jigging)
Whats everyones thoughts?
I am also thinking of purchasing a heavier spin rod for a spheros 14000 (50lb) for trawling, or would the demon blood be sufficient to trawl big, deep divers for mackies etc?
Any advice would be appreciated and I hope to meet a few of you up there.

Buying new boat trailer
Submitted by Dirt on Mon, 2016-01-18 15:21- Made the mistake of getting my old trailer acid dipped and regallved, 1 of the fixed cross beams was cut out and replaced, but the other 2 were deemed fined buy the guy who did the work. Unfortunately they started to show rust not even since months after having it done. Biggest pis soft is dunbier dont sell the frame only like a lot of the others, real shame because apart from those 2 beams the trailer looks like knew. So it looks like I'm possibly up for a new trailer buy the end of this year . My boat is a 6.3 mtr fibreglass carrabean reef runner. Has anyone recently brought one or got quotes for a trailer for a similar size boat. I really like the aluminium trailers with skids lot less parts to rust but unfortunately a bit out of my price range. Any info would be appreciated

bull bars, HELP
Submitted by wez0062 on Mon, 2016-01-18 10:35Guys, not fishy, BUT
are any member here or friends of members who are in the Bull Bar business. I have a new Ford Everest and am chasing a Bull Bar & side steps to be made for it. To purchase these from Ford is basically $3800.00 for the bull bar & $2300.00 for the side steps, and NO, I am NOT shitting you.
From pricing I have seen for these items to fit a Ford Ranger, these prices are double if not triple.
I am chasing a reputable company who is willing to make me the bull bar & side steps, even can use my car as the "bunny" for a week or so. I am sure there will be others chasing the same, as the Ford Everest becomes more popular & people do not want to pay the rip off Ford pricing
any help would be appreciated.
regards Wez

Bow Light
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Mon, 2016-01-18 10:13Looking for some feedback on a bow light for picking up cray pots, navigation markers etc at night time. My two options are a spotlight or a bar light and I am looking at installing a NARVA 72736W www.ebay.com.au/itm/140862585641 which is about $200 more expensive than a spotlight.
What do you guys run with and what are the pros and cons of a strong bar light vs a spotlight?

Transducer position? P!ssing me off
Submitted by sackshaker on Sun, 2016-01-17 19:06I have a lowrance 83/200 tranny on my plate 5.2
After trying it in a couple of different spots I'm still getting noise on the screen when doing anything over say 5knots.
I've watched it while cruising and it is in a fairly "bubbly" position but its hard for me to get it any lower without having some kind of bracet made up. Maybe i should move it out further from engine?
Ideas greatly appreciated.

New to Australia- Teach Me How to Fish Here!
Submitted by Don Logan on Sat, 2016-01-16 19:09Hello i've just moved to Perth from the UK. We've got a container coming over with all our household stuff in it. That includes all my sea fishing stuff and a 3.5m inflatable SIB with 20hp outboard.
I'm keen to get into fishing here, whether ot be beach, boat, jetty or whatever but don't really have much idea on what i'm likely to catch or what with. I'm wanting to catch stuff to eat and have googled a fair bit of info, but am not really much the wiser on how to go about fishing for what i'm after or howw likely I am to catch it.
Can anyone give me some advice?
Are there any beginner's fishing clubs or the like that I could join in order to learn?
Cheers

Fishy in a different way - also ongoing
Submitted by Bluetonic on Fri, 2016-01-15 18:31So bought a new place a couple of years ago and have spent most of that time doing stuff inside.
Decided it was time to prepare the pad for my eventual shed as the backyard was pretty baron.

Hired a bobcat and got my son Ryan on it to help start clearing the lawn for the pad.

And with the help of mate Garbo.

Was wondering what to do with all the crap dirt we were pulling up and decided to pile it near the fence. Thinking about it I thought Hmmm, I could make a garden out of this and hey, let's build a pond.

Pulled all the retic up and got the pad concreted.

And then started to dig the pond out.

Put a pond liner in and put weed mat over the mounded dirt area.

bought a pump that does 25,000 litres per hour as well as a good filter which eventually will be set in the ground.
Put rocks around the pond I managed to get from a friends property in Burekup and used agregate to lay over the weed mate.

I'm going to build decking between the house and the pond.
I've stocked 24 Goldfish but also 30 Silver Perch which are growing exceedingly fast, along with Marron and Yabbies and to date, nearly 4 months now since they've been in, they all seem to be living in harmony.

Put the gopro in the pond and got some awesome footage, the next pic is a still from that. I've also enjoyed dragging a small lure with no hooks across the pond and the Silver Perch go ape.

Will keep you updated on more progress as time goes bye.
