Went out last night going for Mulloway and started of realy bad when i got to my spot starting of with shit loads of pickers ..... got there at about 8.30pm and fish most of the night .  It was about 4am and i thought my luck was not on its way  .....and bout 4.15am i put on a fresh baby squid that i just got on my micro jigs set the drag told my self it was my last bait and now time to wait . well not much longer i had the lil squid out there my line started to peel from my real i was running as fast as i can to get to my rod so i could lock it into gear but when i got there it stoped ...noticed my line was realy slack i thought maby it was a ray and swiming at me so i put my ron in gear pulled in the slack and my line sure then wanted to head for the hills i new then with all the head shakes i had what i wanted :D smiles all round for me as i was on my own i had a lil trouble gaffing with my hart pumping so fast ... few mins later he was on the deck and on the way home to the dinner plate !

an early morning fisho took my pick for me at about 5.30am thanks mate ...

Went out 1 early mornning with my girlfriend,sis and lil boy fishing 1 of my good spots in dwellingup river and on the soft plastics and some fresh bait got all the redfin i wanted .....

Was lucky enough to have the boss shout an Exmouth trip fishing with Josh from On Strike charters.

We had plenty of action with 6 sailfish landed and released along with two triple hookups managing to get all 3 fish on board on one of them. Also got onto a big marlin that straightened the hook and got away.

I gotta say having 3 guys all hooked onto big sailfish at the same time with them launching all over the place was some of the most intense fishing I've ever done. All in all it was a pretty surreal experience, was stoked to land my first sailfish and was definitely some fishing I don't think I'll ever forget!

5.7kg of the best eating fish IMO

Went out for a bash out of rocko on Sunday, nice start with the skipper getting a 6kg Dhu at 8.30,then nothing till about 1 in the arvo when I picked this one up.

79cm didnt weigh him but my guess is over 5kg

headed down to throw a popper around for an hour under much protest from the missus tried one spot not much action after 15 minutes so i moved down the beach to a spot with more reef and white water the old red head did it on the 5th cast

hooked another one about 15 - 20 casts later he threw the hooks mid air i would say he was probably a bit bigger so spewing about that.

got too dark so i had to get off the reef before i broke my ankle trying to get back to shore, bare feet and reefs dont really mix.

you know you live in a good spot when you can head 10 minutes from home at 5 30 in the arvo and come back an hour later with a fish like this.

 Borrowed my mates lil tub yesterday as he works away and putted out into the sound before dawn. Set the pick at 8m at a likely looking drop off and got our burley mix of striped tuna, burley pellets and a tin of chum dog food flowing off the back of the boat. Cast out a 7inch Zman Grub on a light jighead as a drifter in the burley trail while I worked a smaller plastic on a lighter outfit. Gave Goodz a call to see where he was as he was heading out on a mates boat and they were still on land having trouble accessing their boat pen. I noticed the drifting plastic was probably sitting on the bottom not doing much so reeled it in and dropped it straight under the boat leaving it about half a meter off the bottom and put the rod back in the rod holder and let the rocking of the boat do all the work. I was re-rigging the lighter outfit after a first cast snag when my mate yells out and I turn around to see my 4-6kg Nitro buckled over in the rod holder! I strike but pull the hooks so let it sink back down and give it two twitches and WHACK im back on. While the Ci4 was humming away we were ya-hooing as we didnt expect anything to happen after only 10mins of getting to the spot. After a couple minutes of headshakes and good runs I netted the fish.

We were over the moon and couldnt believe it but things were only about to get better! I gave Goodz another call to tell him to hurry the hell up and in mid conversation my mate hooks up on 5inch Mcarthy straight under the boat again. Rudely had to hang up on Goodz and up popped a smaller snapper around the 45-50cm mark. I dropped my big Grub straight under the boat again as the burley was clearly working and attempted to re-rig the other outfit. Hadn't even tied the leader on yet when the rod buckles over again, this time striking to a solid hook-up. This was another solid fish and meanwhile my mate Ben lands another pan-size fish. After a couple minutes we watched this 90cm+ snapper rise through the depths to the sruface at the boat. Once again ya-hoo-ing Ben grabs the net and realises in all the mayhem we had forgotten to dispatch the first snapper!! While Ben frantically gets the first fish out the net my big fish takes one more lunge and the line loses all tension. Bugger. Did I mention that the first fish slightly bent the jighead and I couldnt be bothered rigging up a new one? Whoops. By now the jighead had completely straightened out. I remember saying to Ben that I wasnt even pissed off as my day had already been made with our efforts so far. Finally got some time to re-rig the light outfit, 4inch Snapback paddletail, 20lb leader, 8lb fireline, 2500 Shimano Stradic and a 1-3kg rod. Ben hooked up again to a sub 60cm snapper just as Goodz rocked up and I dropped the plastic over the side. First lift of the plastic and Im on again, after a bit of a tussle another dinner plate size pinkie hits the deck. There was a splash a meter from the boat and I looked up to see Goodz had cast his plastic from his boat 25m away! It was a ping-cast if I ever did see one! Quick release of the fish and the plastic is on the way back down. Lift lift bang, on again! This time a better fish of around 3.5kg which was dispatched to the ice bath. Fish were actually taking the plastic on the sink so you had to watch the rate your line was coming off the spool. It was an epic session, we landed 10 or 11 fish in 40mins, plastics getting hit nearly every cast! 

Next target species were Tailor and Sambos so we pushed on to our next spot. The swell was up which made things a bit hairy but we didnt manage any tailor but Ben did have a surprise catch landing an undersize Yellowtail King.

We caught a couple herring on plastics and chucked them straight onto big hooks on 30lb gear. Managed to hook a couple sambos but we were no match for them in 3-4m of water! 

Pushed on to our last spot for squid/king george whiting. The sun was high and we didnt manage any squid so instead we sight-casted to king george in the shallows for a bit of fun.

All in all we had a great day and took home a very tast bag!

 So headed out last night with the old man for a night fish in ye 40s. Got 6 dhuies 3 size kept two that were 12kg. Also caught about 30 pinks only two size. Home by 12. Defantly not complaining....

 Managed to get the 10y/o daughter connected to a solid little Mack for her first day on the troll out of Norwegian Bay.

Nothing massive. Just caught the two this morning, on weighted river prawns. A mid-river stretch. A little bit of surface action but not a lot of activity otherwise. This is the bigger one. Didn't measure exactly but was about 27-28 judging by a quick check on the rod.

Casey's first dhufish, 46 cm, successfully released.  caught close to Rotto on light KGW gear.

Bloody good dinner last night!

 Well. the story up til 6 this morning... neighbour and coworker, bought a jeep.. I mean boat(hes got a jeep) spent 5k after sifting through what seemed like endless amounts of shit that people have no idea what there mouldy ol tub is worth kinda boats..

The 560 fiberglass runabout was, just as the ad described, and better, every reciept from the last 243 yrs.. nice bloke too... sat there chatting and going over everything with him(engine happily on the hose and purring away).. Water test!!, yep, but have to wait til next weekend cause his missus had plans.. no worries, it was worth waiting for, my mate doesnt have shitloads of cash to throw around on a lemon.. the next friday we're up at Hillaries meeting him at the ramp for the water test... great bloke... showed us all the ins n outs n sideways things about the tub that he eventually shed a tear for as it was leaving.... Shit weather for boating, but we headed out, got about halfway to rotto, cause he egged us on to keep going(I think he was just enjoying a final blast on it) turned around and came back( shoulda seen the size of the mullet hanging round the ramp!!!!)

So that was last friday night just b4 the thunderstorm.. we worked sat and sun, and every other day in between, just itching for an early knock off(Im self employed so normally can make this happen) same ol story.. weekend comes and BOM predicts disaster, but we figured we'd go have a look anyway, was gonna go pt peron ffb direction but changed to woodies just in case it was a bit like the 2-3m swells as predicted at 430 this morn so we could at least have a crack in the sound if it was shit...

So I knock on ol mates door at 1 degree 6am(gentlemans hours hey)... the dog didnt bite me.. Im gonna have a good day...622am cough cough... ol mate decides to open the door!!(decky still aint there yet with ol mates 4wd!!.. he finally shows up half cut?? hook up and work out the battle plan for the day... off we go.. trailer tryes need air... other owner liked to run his tyres at 28psi?? BP huntingdale forgot to turn the compressor on and fatima didnt know?understand how to... woolies at brooklands auto went to 60psi.. yep thats not gonna work after a few hit and miss tries, so BP success got that one sorted.. oh thats right... BP success was AFTER ol mate realised he'd left the boat keys at home... he's only ever had a tinny so we cut him some slack(after about 30 piss takes)

830!!! we are in the water, idling away, planning the days events, excited, who would christent the new tub etc,, we were really excited!!...and wondering where the hell the newb deckie has gone.. no dunny paper at the public toilets at woodies, so a pie wrapper and a chat with 'someone' on the way down to the boat cost us 20 mins!! anyway ropes off and we're away skipper... not even through the heads and we're in a steam bath!!! wtf... crack the cover steam everywhere... water pissing out!!! wtf... Marine safety boat coming into port as this happened.. oh the shame.. ol mates pretty confident he knew why(after playing with it all week) knocked back the offer of a tow back to the ramp... that woulda been the end of the day right there!!!

Got it sorted cause he had planned well... bottle of oil, bottle of coolant(closed system blah blah) top 'er up, good to go... underway again, the exhaust bellows decides to let go!! were the F did the flathead screwdriver go(it was under the tipped over engine cover??) either way Troy(me) did the mcGyver thing and snapped the tip off a bait knife and made a flat head screwdriver.. yeh I personally was having a good day.. McGyver theme running through my head.. actually it was the Ateam theme cause i couldnt remember the Mcgyver song!!.. better rub it in about forgetting the keys again.. off we go... finally outta the heads.. yep it boiled again... I say 'make the call skipper.. game over'(poor guy, it was his first time hes ever logged on and I made him do it himself even though he reckons cause I jabber on a truck UHf I should do it.. he needs to learn how to)

Newb deckie cracked his first tinny.. not sure how that worked as we both run a dry boat, but he's ol mates bro so he somehow flew in under the radar.... he decides F it Im fishing(cant actually tie knots.. ya woulda loved the granny knot snap swivel rig he tied... ya aint gonna catch F all here bud)

we were gonna give sea rescue a call.. really didnt want to...had plenty of coolant/water on board(he did well), why not just let it cool down some and we'll get back, without annoying sea rescue.. the wind was pushing us towards GI so no immediate rock smashing danger.. deckie is jabbering away about some tart he hooked up with last night etc.. ol mate wasnt happy(as one could expect)... should we just drop anchor he asks.. as yet another tub flies past us... After working out how much fluids we had for the motor I pointed out that we were drifting in the direction of something that looked like it could be structure and at least give us a day out(meh no nagging missus is always a good day out)

We decided to go for a very fuel ecomical drift.. headed straight for a rocky seabed near one of the cardinal markers out from woodies... the wind was perfect.. bout 20 minutes later we ended up right on the edge of it.. the ol' black n white sounder went nuts.. reckon it musta been a monster school of trumpeter.. anyway .. dropped anchor cause at least this was showing signs of life compared the the flat boring nothing that had been showing on the way... we didnt care, we were fishing!! this is living!!!

had a block of mulies for burleying just in case the weather report was right and we got held in close... deckie still hasnt shutup yet and has made 2 other fone calls yabbering about breaking down and ol mate forgetting the keys etc... he shoulda brought goggles cause ol mate was already over that!!... a few wrasse(decky).... meh.. hes like WOW WHASH sHAT.. its the sound.... BAM Im on to something that I called, with tongue in cheek for a baldie...Scorpian Cod.. almost had to wrestle deckie away from just grabbing the damn thing... didnt need that shit right about now!!! my first SP deep species fish.. Berkley Punk prawn jerk shad... Thank goodness for people like Fisho-ron for teaching me how to deal with these little buggers... reckon I caught about half a dozen or so last time I was out with him n Troy....

throw the elevator head back out.. yeh Im new to plastics but itching to get something real... BAM on again... go on.. call it for a baldie this time... nope... Scorpian cod... that actually had a white chin so I was mega excited right up until it surfaced!!! theyre actually kinda bulldog cute hey.. berley trail was working, got to show the now cuddly deckie how it worked.. boga grips, hookout.... inside its mouth/ stomach entrance, was a cube of mulie.. dude nearly passed out.. wish he did!!! 

Hours passed, not another fish came aboard.. I rerigged for bait.. blamed the plastics ;) even though we had other rods with bait attached... used a drift bait rig No 5 bean sinker snelled rig... full cali squid... just like the others.....(ya forgot the boats broken hey.. yep its cool enough to go home now)

Ryan from Oceanside Tackle.. my new best mate!! garaunteed me that THIS rod is awesome, he was right... I matched my sanctum 5000 to this FWA 8-10kg graphite 7' rod.... it looks like herring would scare the shit outta it... but awesome(as far as my 2 hrs of demersal SP fishing goes) even with a sinker and bait rig.. it was awesome.. reminds me of a fly rod... the tip just follows the fish but the butt... we its got a whole lot back... which worked out really well for the next fish.... nibble nibble(picker picker) KABLAM.... best I get that outta the rod holder NOW.... skipper was in the middle of rigging up a squid jig to kill the hours.. 'Here hold this' I said.... 78cm Pinkie!! yep he forgot about the broken boat for now(yep I wasnt expecting that either.. but feel pretty good now!!).. got a pic, but it didnt transfer to the pc like it shows on the iPhone... high 5s all round.. it was his first pinky, and the first 'keeper on his new boat.. onya mate

A few squid and quiet other lines later we check the fluids and headed home.. exhaust bellows blew off again, and it got hot but we're a patient bunch of fellows and we got home in time to do a ripper cook up for what couldve been a dry day... yep... wont even go there, not my boat... he fell asleep on the way home

just went down to the metro beach in the evening last weekend, can there are hips of tailor caught. all of them over 40cm, and the largest one I got is 57cm, good fun with it.

just wondering if any body had a fish at the mole last sat i went for a fish with a couple of mates and had a fantastic play with some tailor between us we got 14 in about 2 hours biggest was my mates at 52cm ripper of a fish but none under 40cm sorry thees no pics cant figure my phone out to download em to my laptop anyone else have the same succsess

Hey FW Crew!

Just a few pics from our trip to Exxy in May.  Was a great trip, had all bases covered.  Sharks were a problem around the Helby but still some good fish were caught.   Some went back with added bling too!

Stayed in a Ray White Exxy House for the week, Hired the 7.1m Jackman from Exmouth Boat Hire.  All great experiences and would highly recommend.

Had some fun in the inshore reefs with Trout, squid and cod, headed over to the Muirons for a great days adventure, had some fun off the rockwall at the marina with some little GT's and Queenies and made the most of the near perfect weather we had.

Never tried squidin and was motorvated after attending the 'squid night' at Bluewater Morley. So on the way back from a fish this mornin I stopped to try the free jig I got from the night and first cast I was on (technique mastered) next cast landed me this beauty (33 cm hood), thought it was a cuttlefish it was that big, pulled some line off my 4lb gear. Another goal kicked, stoked, need a pinky on a placcy now (or on fresh squid)

 Never posted a pic on ere b4 so more just trying to work out how to do it.  Caught it of Mossman bay Quite a few being caught (more than few by others) Had a blast but too far to drive from home.

Thought i'd better post a pick of my eldest boy's first Tailor. He's 9 years old and caught it on a 7" spin rod at Floreat beach a few weeks ago. Was a lot more excited than picture would suggest. 50 cm. Will post one of mine when i catch one bigger...
