Faulkner trip Part 5 The day Adam Jumped over board to get away from the Faulkner’s
Met up with Adam at the blue water tackle shop around 8.30 with great weather predicted it was going to be a great day on the water but I am not sure if Adam was warned about getting his ear chewed of by my Family ha ha With everything on board we set off for our Reds spot as Adam wanted to catch his wish fish a 12 +kg Red emperor . On our way out we came across a sail fish playing with bait fish so over went our lines Adam set out his teasers and skirts up and down we went but to no avail but it was once in a life time find .
While we waited for the fish to bite we saw mackies jumping up to what looked like 20 foot in the air what a great place this is sea snakes swimming by , whales jumping who cares if the fish are not biting its just great to be in this place . We moved to one of Adams spots a bit deeper . Got bite straight away Russ got a Robinson Sea bream which Adam told us was top eating .
Not much else happening other than seeing a few sharks around the boat it was then that Adam decided that maybe the sharks were better company than the Faulkner family ha ha
We thought he was nuts no way would any of us join him ha ha ha
Adam took some great shots of the boat be for returning as it was a bit to far to swim to shore *lol*
As you can see by the water it was as flat as but no drift *pout*We moved across a bit we got a few fish here but nothing to keep all released Sandy even gave on the old rex hunt kiss
Got a couple of bite offs due to sharks when Brenden hooked up we were all sure he had a shark on the end when Brenden assured us it was not this is what he caught
Adam to the rescue with the gaff it was a 117cm Malabar Groper estimated to weigh around the 30 to 35 kg mark
He Sure won bragging right with this fish . Upon release we tried for a long time to get him to go down even put the dhuie release and about another 100 oz of weight with it to get him to go down put it seemed he was to full of hot air with great regret we had to leave him to go back to the food chain with the knowledge we tied everything. Then we decided to move in a bit shallower and away from the sharks
Adam was being a good decky filleting fish for bait and showing us how to iki and bleed properly. Nathan and Adam were the next to hook up then thoughy they had each other but no two nice Rankin Cods
It was to heavy for Nathan but Adam gave him a hand *smile*Next was Brenden with this nice size Chinaman Fish
Deciding that maybe we could go catch a few dollies or Sailfish on our way to the coral trout spot as there was no drift at all But nothing was bitting we really did not care because we had all had a magic day on the water with Adam and decided to head home
The Faulkner’s had warn out poor Adam as he laid down on the trip home pillow and all * LOL* Returned to camp, the boys went to Adams to wash out the boat and do the fish Sandy stayed at camp to get dinner ready as Adam was coming back for dinner ( fresh fish, chips and Salad) bring his hard drive to show the kids all his footage on sail fishing and marlins it was great way to finish a great day So Adam a Heart filled thank you for your company and information plus I hope your ears have recovered *smile*

hahahah
Great report Russ, Sandy, Nath and Brenden, thanks for taking me out, enjoyed the day thoroughly even though the fish didn't really play ball. Mind you, I would have liked my mask and snorkel swimming out on that 100m line, would have given me 5 seconds worth of impending shark notice. ;)

yep
Vented from the back, vented from the front, even squeezed the swim bladder until there was no pressure and stuffed it back down his throat. Unfortunately one of those cases that couldn't be helped. :( If I had my mask/fins I would have tried to swim him down the first coupla meters but I think he was pretty much cactused.

Sure, no dramas. I've been there before and I'm sure if it wasn't illegal to keep it it wouldn't have been wasted.
Interesting to note that even vented it wouldn't go down. The ascent itself must have just stuffed it.

Yeh, think it had a fair bit of air in its belly cavity as well, but yep, certainly tried everything with no luck. All goes back into the food chain at some point in time, just a little earlier than he had planned unfortunately.
