Small dent repairs with paint damage
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2012-02-19 12:53Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a small dent repairer. I have a couple of small dents on the tail gate of the Triton and on the driver door, also a few small scratches here and there. Most of the ones you google are paintless so one who can reapir a little paint damage aswell would be good. Otherwise its off to the panel shop. I want to her her looking Mickey Mouse again as I used her for work a lot but have now bought a truck.

Submitted by Righteo on Sun, 2012-02-19 01:49Quite sure most people get like this, cant sleep to excited about up and coming events.
Going to have a troll around west end for some mackys and then a bottom bash somewhere... maybe even try a few of the wrecks, sad thing is filled the tomcat with 200l of juice today only to realise the sounder and gps are not playing the game so looks like a wet afternoon trip home in the tinny.
Wake up next morning fillet some fish if i catch any, they should be nicely chilled thanks Dave.
Fly out to phuket for 5 days... maybe more if i like it enough and change my flights home, 15/20hrs in a tatto chair, cruise the coastline on a scoota, chill at some beaches and drink with randoms till the sun comes up.
You would be hard pressed to wipe the smile off my face right now.
May even try and get a fish in over there, giant mekong catfish could be good for a laugh and when i get back gamex is less than 2 weeks away so should be able to get out to the fads and try my new lures.
Im struggling to wipe this shit eating grin off my face

Saturday night
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sat, 2012-02-18 19:34Saturday night just seems so slow
Where everyone is i do not know
Lots would have gone out for a fish
And many others could only but wish
As the day went on into the night
We ended needing to turn on a light
Some may have gone into retravision
Then gone home to turn on the new television
Only to find not much on at all
All it does is drive you up the wall
Thinking about all the things you could have done
But with all that procrastinating you have achieved none
You pick up a pen and paper and start to scribble
But all that comes out is a pile of dribble
They say the pen is mightier than the sword
But as you can probably tell that i am bored

Boat for wedding transport in mandurah please help
Submitted by roddo on Sat, 2012-02-18 17:18Hi Guys
was just wondering if there was someone out there that could help out.
its my mates wedding on sunday 11th march and we were going to use my boat as the transport to the wedding for the groom and groomsmen and then the whole bridal party from ceremony to reception.
my motor has decided to give up the ghost so now my boat is out of the question so if there is anyone out there that is willing to lend there boat with them as skipper it would be appreciated so much.
we would be wanting to leaving the foreshore at around 1.30pm to take us to the tree on the corner where M on the point is (the old penninsula) as the ceremony is there then have some photos of the bridal party and the boat and then take us to the reception at the offshore fishing and sailing club at around 5.30 which is prob a 5 minute drive.
the wedding party consists of 7 adults.
i am happy to pay for your fuel expences and pay you for your time you tell me how much. it doesnt have to be a fancy boat anything will do as long as you can fit us all on and you dont mind your boat in some photos. might have to put a ribbon on the bow of the boat aswell to keep the ladies happy.
would probably be easier for a mandurah person as i dont want to put people out to much.
if anyone can help please send me a pm to discuss further.
many thanks
Rod

Exmouth Invitational 2012 - Sat 31st March, Sun 1st April, Monday 2nd April
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Sat, 2012-02-18 09:42Those of you who are coming up for the comp (or a team representative) Can you please contact me so I can send you out the details for the comp/Send me your postal details so I can send down the info. The rules are the same as all the other years (for those that have been before) If you want any more info, email me at
The intro night will be on my front lawn at 5.30pm on the friday night. It will last an hour or so to register the teams and hand out name tags and collect any entry fees owing. (Apologies if this cuts into your fishing time a bit, but it gives people time to get a feed afterwards and get their stuff sorted) I was hit up by DOT last year about them wanting to say some stuff, so there may be some info from them and fisheries, will find out more on that. The final night is the Monday and the windup will be at my place, the bbq will be out the front and we will have a cookup and a 'few' drinks! All these details will be explained on the Friday night.
There have been a couple of teams pull out which is unfortunate, but they have decided to leave their entry fees in the prize pool which means its easier to win prizes. It looks to be a good number for this year so I can see it being and bloody good time!!
Any specific questions just PM me or send me an email.
Cheers,
Adam

Submitted by greatrex on Wed, 2012-02-15 23:46hey all. im looking at selling the 100 series landcruiser as it is petrol and being an apprentice i cant afford to run the toys. im looking at downgrading to a navara st-r. im just wondering how other peoples experiences with the st-r and towing have been? the boat is about 2ton. generally the boat is kept 15 metres away from the boat ramp so only occasionally will it be making trips down south to mandurah and dunsborough. what are your thoughts? cheers

Pulling others lobster pots leads to fines
Submitted by bod on Wed, 2012-02-15 19:00 Rock lobster fishing offences almost two years ago had their sequel in Joondalup Magistrates Court this month, when two recreational fishers were ordered to pay fines and costs totalling more than $6,300.
The court was told the men were observed jointly pulling and resetting 10 rock lobster pots and setting an 11th pot in waters west of the Two Rocks Marina on Monday morning 8 March 2010.
Laurent Rodolphe POTRAIS, aged 42, of Woodridge was issued fines of $3,300, a mandatory additional penalty of $882 and court costs of $251.40, while 33 year-old Michael William LEWIS, from Two Rocks, was fined $1800 with costs of $125.70.
After surveillance of the men, Fisheries and Marine Officers inspected the vessel the men were on, when it returned to shore and located a total of eight western rock lobsters.
The court further heard that is was an offence to use more than two pots per person to fish for rock lobster at any one time.
Potrais was also observed two days later pulling and resetting eight pots – resulting in a catch of nine rock lobsters.
When Fisheries and Marine Officers executed a search warrant on his home, Potrais was found to have nine western rock lobster tails in the fridge freezer in his kitchen.
Speaking after the prosecution (on Wednesday 8 February 2012), North Metropolitan Region Compliance Manager Todd A’Vard said the case highlighted the rule that recreational fishers were not allowed to pull pots that were not their own, regardless of whether they belonged to friends or not.
“These fishers have paid a high price for breaching the recreational rock lobster fishing rules,” Mr A’Vard said.
“Fishing laws have been put in place to help protect WA’s valuable fish stocks and to ensure there will be fish for the future.”

Trawler crew rescued off Two Rocks
Submitted by Iceman on Mon, 2012-02-13 10:41Trawler crew rescued off Two Rocks
A crew member of a trawler was rescued off Two Rocks last night following a busy day on the water for emergency services teams.
About 8.10pm police received information that two of the boat's crew were unwell after inhaling dangerous fumes and needed urgent medical treatment.
The 27.8m trawler was about nine nautical miles off-shore.
The RAC rescue helicopter reached the vessel first and directed two rescue boats from the Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue Group to its position.
On arrival rescuers found just one crew member needed urgent treatment and Water Police organised for an ambulance to meet rescue boats at Mindarie and take the patient to hospital.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recieved urgent call last night advising explosion on vessel and one person injured. Both boats dispatched and was fun travelling at 25knots at night dodging cray pots. When we arrive we had a delicate operation to come along side the trawler and take the injured person off with 1-2m seas. Vessel was approc 11nm of the coast.
Once onboard found injuries not as bad as first expected and he was taken to Mindarie to waiting ambulance.

Cannibal wobbegong
Submitted by bod on Sat, 2012-02-11 23:36You would think being a shark you wouldn't have to watch your back. As the sea's ultimate predator, sharks patrol the ocean safe in the knowledge that they rule the waves. But now it seems sharks shouldn't swim so easy, as their bigger, hungrier couins might view them as a tasty snack.

Australian researchers snapped this extraordinary sight in August while they were carrying out a census of fish off Great Keppel Island off the Great Barrier Reef
This is believed to be the first time scientists have ever photographed a shark eating another shark.
Australian researchers snapped the extraordinary sight in August last year while they were carrying out a census of fish off Great Keppel Island off the Great Barrier Reef.
The experts, from the Australian Research Council's Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, knew sharks ate other sharks after discovering remains in the stomachs of carpet sharks, but it is the first time the process has been photographed in action.
The photo shows a type of carpet shark called a tasselled wobbegong, munching on a brown-banded bamboo shark head first, thanks to its remarkable ability to dislocate its jaw
They estimate it would have taken the carpet shark several hours to finish its snack.
Carpet sharks look flat and have carpet-like patterns on their bodies. They spend much of their time lying on the ocean bed waiting for passing food.
Usually they like to feast on small fish or invertebrates.
Researchers said that during the 30-min observation period, neither shark moved position and the wobbegong did not further ingest the bamboo shark.
'We assume that it would have taken at least several more hours to completely consume the bamboo shark.'

This would take some balls - Free Willy
Submitted by championruby on Thu, 2012-02-09 14:49http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/32681/diver+frees+entangled+orca+that+had+been+crying+for+help/
An orca that had become entangled in a crayfish pot off a New Zealand beach cried for the help of nearby orcas, but is alive thanks to a local diver who plunged in with a knife and cut the mammal loose. Part of the event was videotaped, and the orca's cries can be heard in the footage.
The rescue, just a few hundred yards off Hahei Beach, was performed by Rhys Cochrane of a Cathredal Cove dive outfit. The rope attached to the crayfish pot had become twisted around the orca's tail and, in order to surface and breathe, the mammal had to lift the heavy pot off the ocean floor.
The accompanying video shows only some footage. In the 3 News video report, more footage is revealed and Cochrane explains that when he dove in he could see several other orcas nearby.
The entangled orca, Cochrane explained, became still as he approached with his kinfe. "He didn't seem to mind or maybe even knew that I was trying to help him," Cochrane said.
After being freed, the orca joined its family and the mammals disappeared into the blue-green haze
