Spess's joke for this week!
Submitted by SPESS on Tue, 2007-04-03 11:40One day a nun goes down to the river for a fish and catches a huge one on her new stella 4000 and t-curve tornament combo that she brought from honsu at oceanside! She was very impressed on how it performed on such a large fish! A man sees this and walks over to congratulate the sister. He says " thats a nice gauddam fish there" The sister replies "you shouldnt use gods name in vain like that" " NO thats actually what the species is called" says the man. "oh thankyou then" replies the sister.
When she arrives back at the convent the mother supperior comes over."look at the gauddam fish i caught mother surperior" "You know better than to say that sister" Mother superior replies. "no thats what the species is called" "ok then, ill clean the gauddam fish then" The mother says.
When shes cleaning it the head monk comes over. "look at the gaudamm fish the sister caught" the mother says. "you really should know better to say stuff like that mother superior" " no thats what the species is called" she replies. "well alright give it to me and ill cook the gauddam fish then" says the monk.
That night at tea they all sit down to a beautiful feed of fresh fish and they are greeted by the new priest to run the convent.
The priest says "this looks inpressive" The sister says "i caught the gaudamm fish, the mother superior cleaned the gaudamm fish and the head monk cooked the gauddam fish"
With that the new priest looks around in belief and says "F*%k, i like this place already!"
Have a good easter guys and see you all after the break! Drive safe and keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight.

Back from the Bush
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2007-03-27 17:19Hi Guys,
Sorry I haven't been online the last coupla days, been out bush going from Canarvon through to Exmouth. Things are starting to get busy up here with the holiday season about to start. Had some good days fishing before I left with Gully and the boys and also Bouttime (DAMN MARLIN!). Now that I have the internet set up at home I can post up a few pictures of the local action.
Everything is great up here at the moment, the job's tops, the fishing rocks, the girlie is happy and settled in well. I am very happy with the move and we have just ticked off our first month of being here. I'm back in town for 5 days before heading on my next trip down the coast so I'm looking foward to seeing what you guys have been catching and whats been happening over the last week.
Tight lines crew,
Adam

This weeks fishing joke!
Submitted by SPESS on Tue, 2007-03-20 12:07A man goes down to a well knowen prohibited fishing zone in the swan river to sneek in a fish. He catches 12 nice size black bream! He walks back to the car and puts all his tackle away and comes back down to the shore to get his bucket full of fish. on the way back up hes greeted by Mr fisheries. "have you got a licence to catch those fish" he says. "no sir i havent, but it doesnt matter anyway" says the fisherman. Fisheries man replies "and whys that". "because
these are pet fish, i bring them down every night for a swim then take them home again" says the man. "thats just bullshit, how do you get them to come back" says mr fisheries. "i just whisle and they jump straight back into the bucket" replies the fisherman. "show me" so the guy lets the fish go and they swim off. "so lets see them come back then" says the fisheries officer. "See what come back" the man replies. "the fish" "What fish" replies the fisherman with a smurk on his face.
Until next week this is spess's joke time!

What a night!!!
Submitted by jimbo1 on Sun, 2007-03-18 15:22Went to the INXS concert last night, what a performance! Brilliant supporting acts too with Arrested Development and Simple Minds.
The new front man for INXS did a great job and all the the old hits sounds awsome. But I must admit some of their new music doesnt have the same feel to it.
Was absolutely packed and as always good to see no idiots causing greif.
Definately impressed to watch a group of old fellas with INXS and Simple Minds still able to get a crowd going.

Submitted by SPESS on Tue, 2007-03-13 13:33A couple on there honeymoon diside to go to Queensland so they can visit the barrier reef. On there arrival the bloke got sick and was sick for 3 days straight when his misses desided to go out on a diving charater by herself as she was sick of sitting around careing for her husband. The next day she went and her husband waited all day for her arival, which never happened! He waited for 2 days and then desided He was about to call the police when they happened to knock on his hotel door. Hi mate we have got some good news, very good news and some not so good news. The husband said well we might as well start off with the bad news. The officer said, sorry mate we have found your wife on the barrier reef! She must of got stuck and ran out of air, then drowned! Ok then said the husband, whats the rest of the news. Well said the officer the good news is when we pulled her off the bottom see had this on her. He handed the husband a dive bag full of crayfish, abalone, mortan bay bugs and a coral trout! Oh thanks said the husband but whats the reaaly good news then? The officers say "were pulling her again tomorrow and hopefully we get a hell of alot more".

Well I'm back from my first trip down the coastline. Have I seen some sights or what! My nets still not up at home (NOT HAPPY JAN) but wont be long before I can put up some photos of some of the sites, well, the more popular locations, I can't divulge the secrets spots unless I'm paid in beer or seafood. ;)
Glad to be back in Exmouth, with a bloody cyclone awaiting to ruin my days off fishing! Great to see some of you have been having some luck, been some great reading amongst it too. Will update more soon, off to have a beer and some dinner with ma girlie.
To be continued. :)))

Mundaring to York 4WD Trip
Submitted by Andy Mac on Tue, 2007-03-06 12:41Well guys, since the weather has been aweful to get the boat out, we decided to hit the bush instead and took the Pajero up into the hills for a bit of a trek. Travelled in a convoy of three cars. Two of us were novices and one relatively experienced fellow up front showing us how its done.
The trip is not for the faint hearted as we were on some interesting angles and steep slopes at times but the DID Paj got us up and over without too many dramas. Bottommed out a few times and had my heart in my mouth a couple more but was great fun.
The most exciting part was being a passenger in the experienced vehicle on a particularly tricky section when we launched airborne and landed with the front right fender onto a rather large boulder at the top of a hill climb (BANG!) not a pretty sight, Ego's damaged more than the car though as it was in front of about 20 other 4bie drivers that we passed at this spot.
Here is the link to the track if anyone wants to give it a go.
http://www.pps.net.au/4wdencounter/tracks/york.html
Took us a full day to complete with lunch offroad and tea and scones in York. My mate has some pics so I will post up if I get a copy of anything descent.

Thursdays joke.
Submitted by SPESS on Thu, 2007-03-01 09:42An elephant and a snake are sitting around board out of there brains. The snake says to the elephant "lets play a game". "what game do you want to play" the elephant replies. "how about a game of billards" "yeah thats sounds sweet" but we havent got a table or anything. So they deside the rules of the game buy doing tricks that they can perform and the other will rate it accordingly to a billard shot with points the same. "ill go first" the elephant says, saying that he walks over to the creek and fills up his truck with water and sprays it in the air. The snake says "shit that was allright, thats proberly a pink ball and worth around 2 points, now my turn" the snake curls himself into a coil and springs up like tigger does on his tail. "not bad at all but ill give that only 1 point like a red ball" says the elephant. The snake gets alittle pissed off with this but agrees anyway. The elephant then does his second trick by pushing over a huge tree. " i give that only 1 point too" says the snake thinking the elephant is cheating not giving out many points so why should i! The elephant gets a little shitty at this but thinks, ill get him back. " the next trick i do will be the best you ever see" says the snake. "but i want you to stay still" "ok" says the elephant. With that the snake jumps up the elephants bum and comes out his truck! "not bad, but i bet you couldnt do that again" says the elephant! "no worrys" So up he jumps back into the elephants butt and riggles through. Quickly the elephant sticks his trunk up his own butt! "let me out" the snake hollows! "i call that snookered" the elephant replies. "i win".

Anyone have experience with cichlids
Submitted by Lukas on Mon, 2007-02-26 15:43Here's one for all you aquarium owners.
I currently have a normal tropical tank with gourami's, bristlenose's, guppies, clown loaches and the like. I'm getting bored of them and want to put cichlids in.
I have never had cichlids before and my first question I have is:
If I put the cichlids when they are small (1 inch) will they start eating my guppies straight away or will they only do that if they are bigger.
The second question is:
If I put them in now and leave the smaller fish in too, will the smaller fish get old and die before the cichlids get big enough to eat them or do cichlids grow fast?
Also will cichlids suffer in a normal tropical tank Ph or should I just get rid of the gourami's and drop the Ph?
I realise that I should just go to a fish shop and ask but we are a bit short of fish shops here in busso. There is one that has some nice cichlids and would like to know a bit before I go and sacrifice all my fish???
If any body knows anything would be appreciated. Am fairly experienced with "normal" tropical's but know nothing about cichlids.

S.A. fishin mission
Submitted by Stingray on Wed, 2007-02-21 11:54Hey team, I'm off to my home town (The South East of South Australia) tomorrow for a couple of weeks. Getting married there to my long time sweet heart. Also gunna get into some of my old favourite fishing spots while I’m there – Expect to get some Crays, Mulloway, Sharks, and Snapper.
Going to the Whitsunday’s for a few weeks honeymoon too, so should see some cool diving and fishing there (taking a modified 5’ barra rod (bait caster) and ABU 6500 in the suit case and a fist full of lures). Rod folds in half, she won’t know fishing’s on the plan till we get there!!!
Will post some pics when I return in 1 month.
Don’t catch them all while I’m gone!

RCS
Submitted by foz on Wed, 2007-02-14 10:28Just a reminder that the Rottnest Channel Swim is on this Sat 17th Feb.
Swimmers/paddlers and support craft leave Cottosloe in waves of 100 every 15 mins from 0545 to 0845
and swim for about 6 ish hours. Ramps are always busy early on the swim day
and no extra parking seems to be available. The weather models dont look too good though, with fresh nw/sw and a 2/2.5m swell increasing Sunday morn. Good luck and safe boating to all crews involved.

IGFA factory pretest lines
Submitted by tangles on Sat, 2007-02-10 21:07hey guys, just wondering if any of you guys know of any other IGFA approved pretest lines that have the factory pretest label on them like the platypus lines do? The kalbarri classic is coming up and we are only alowed to use platypus or black magic line, but the black magic doesnt have the factory pretest label on them. I just want to know if there are any others out there that have the label on them cos not to keen on the platypus and black magic. Bit rude cos thats all they allow you to use. If anyone has any ideas can you let me know. cheers tangles

Where are you from?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2007-02-07 14:30Just did some thinking after noticing that a few people sorta knew each other without actually knowing each other, so I decided to start this thread, because you just may never know who's behind the alias.
So, where did you grow up?
I spent 12 years living between Walpole and Denmark before moving to the city for some 'proper' schooling. ;)
