School holiday sparrows trip
Submitted by sunshine on Fri, 2022-10-07 15:34Having promised a mate et al that if the weather was kind we would go and chase some fish provided they could get up.EARLY. Well I was going to hit a,spot just inside FFB but stopped about 40 metres short as it can claim a lot of tackle. The smallest rod in the boat went off first giving Luke his pb......not snapper but a really good gummy. From that moment on until sun up it was pandemonium with rods going off, tangles but by seven we had all had enough .....plenty of feeds for the closed season

Two Part vid from my latest trip the Exmouth May 2022
Submitted by PilbaraTremor on Thu, 2022-07-21 12:06
Check out my latest two part video from a recent trip to Exmouth.
By far my most successful trip chasing Billfish. The sound of a Tiagra stripping off line is sooooo adictive!!!
We did manage a good feed daily on the typical bottom dwellers, sharks weren't a problem at all on this trip!

broome sharks
Submitted by duncan61 on Sun, 2022-07-10 15:14I was in Broome and we hired a plate boat and cruized out near dangerous reef.I dropped a paternoster and had good hits and was bitten clean of by sharks 3 times in a row.We moved on.Even trolled Mackeral were taken a few seconds after hook up.I saw the sharks.Lots of whalers around 5-6 foot.I would have prefered to go up Dampier creek for threadfin and stuff however my son ended up paying over $600 for the day so if he wishes to go bluewater its his call.Next time maybe

Submitted by bkkguy on Sat, 2022-07-09 13:54

Good to see Reza and his son again. It has been a while since we fished together in Thailand some 8yrs back.
This trip abit different than the past fishing trip.
Reza wants to experience bkk foods feast for this trip.
Fishing will be secondly as foods come first.
All these foods destinations were provided by Reza himself.
All thanks to google foods reviews, he googled them himself. haha !
Fishing cum foods hunts cum Mike Tyson look alike 'fake tattoo' in bkk....Epic holiday for men.
Without further delay, I let the photos and videos do the talking -

Green Monster Snakehead Toman Fishing Thailand 2022
Submitted by bkkguy on Sat, 2022-07-02 15:30 Hi guys !
It good to be back. It has been a while since I went fishing with my dear wife bkklady.
I got a phone call from my boatman that one of my favorite fishing spot is firing (fries mama toman).
We quickly packed our stuffs and head to the spot the next day.
When we reached there, I noticed that the water has risen since my last trip during pre covid time.
With the water level covering the brushes and grasses, definitely there must be many adults toman that ready to breed.
We spotted about 5-8 fries balls that day, manage to landed 3 biggies mama toman and quite a few that got away.
Here the catch highlights and youtube video for the trip.
Hope you guys enjoys it.

Coral bay
Submitted by hodge on Fri, 2022-06-24 09:08Gday guys.
Just got back from a coral bay trip a few weeks ago and thought i should throw up a quick report for anyone interested.
We are lucky enough that we get a couple of trips up there each year, and at short notice we tend to be able to pick some good weather.
This year was no different.
With the new demersal limits we were much more choosy on what we kept, but still managed to knock over our limits very easily in a couple of days. Which left us with a few solid days at the pubs inbetween.
Sharks are same same as every year. Aslong as you do a few miles to get away from the passages there arent too many dramas and we only lost a handful of fish for the trip.
As usual we tried not to fish any spots from the previous trips, and all fish came off new grounds which probably also helps with the biteys.
We found the reds were fishing alot better out north, but the goldies were on fire south.
We didnt get alot of photos as normal lol. But my mate knocked up this little video of one of the days, hopefully the link works.
Fuel prices were up there but its a holiday so who cares.
Cheers
Hodgy

"Glassoff" Nearshore Pink
Submitted by Mick C on Wed, 2022-06-01 21:41A quick afternoon/night trip out of Hillarys with Tony. It was a “glassoff”, which in my experience never fishes that well.
Generally slow, but one good 68cm fish and a number of others in the 30-45cm size class.
There were schools of blue mackerel taking baits around the boat, which we didn’t target. The constantly changing wind and current conditions were not ideal and when Tony got a “bottom feeder” we called it a day.
Not a lot of fish, but an enjoyable afternoon in “unbelievable” conditions.

After the Storm Inshore Pinkies
Submitted by Mick C on Sun, 2022-05-29 18:25Headed out inshore from Hillarys at 4pm on Wednesday after the storm wind dropped. The swell had abated to about 2m and water clarity was “medium”. The wind was about 5kn and conditions were excellent.
Set the Minn Kota spot lock on “broken ground” in 9m with a solid burley trail. Lots of fish, and we landed and released 20 odd in a couple of hours. We caught a few species with a wide range of size classes over a short period of time, and the inshore stock seems very healthy.
3 pinkies over 50cm. Mark’s was 800mm and the others were around 550-600mm. We released the bigger one and kept the “perfect eating size” fish.

SBT Saturday
Submitted by davewillo on Tue, 2022-05-24 16:56Got onto a heap of SBT around 3kg off Hillarys on Saturday. They were ravenous so we took a few and left them biting (after a few C & R for fun!). Really fun session and better sizes than we often see. In the mid-20's with birds working a fair bit but it didn't matter if you were where the birds were or not. Two lures out for double hook-ups every time.

Before the Storm
Submitted by Mick C on Sun, 2022-05-22 19:32With the storm front approaching there was the opportunity to get out nearshore on Friday and Saturday afternoon/night before the blow. Never sure how its going to fish, but worth a crack.
Took the young fellas on Friday in a 10-15kn southerly and it was fairly slow, but a lot of big (750g+) skippy and undersized pinkies. The highlight was Zane’s first ever size dhu. Johnny got one at 49.95cm that had to be returned – brought up slowly on light gear in shallow water, minimum time out of the water, reoxygenated, and it swam down well.
Better conditions on Saturday (5kn) and Leigh got a couple of nice medium pinkies, amongst more large skippy and 7 big port jacksons!!!
Looking forward to Wednesday/Thursday next week when inshore conditions should be ideal for inshore pinkies on dusk.

Montes Magic
Submitted by big john on Fri, 2022-05-13 18:05Finally managed to get an April, Montes trip back in this year. COVID and a cyclone saw the last two re-scheduled to late September. Great trips but the water was a bit cool for snorkelling and spearing.
This trip saw the new in-laws join the fray, with my eldest daughter getting married just before the trip.
Iffy weather at the beginning saw us delay our departure, but the froth caught up with us, and we still spent a day camped out on the Fortescue access road. Take a fly net would be my advise!
Eventually got across, and its always a big relief getting all that weight and fuel off the boat. Set up camp and then slipped out for a quick squid and swim, James breaking in his new speargun on a nice trout. Dinner was sorted. James is a deadset Master Chef, and we ate like kings every night. He spiced up the fresh seafood (fish, cray, squid) meals with some huge Esperance brown lip abalone and 3kg's of Shark Bay tiger prawns. How I avoided gout I'll never know.
I've never been one to fish deep and drop big leads so we pretty much stayed in less than 35 metres the whole trip. I always jig only (never bait) but James has often dappled in the dirty baito arts. This trip however he stuck with the jigs only and he was rewarded with some cracking fish, especially coral trout. I can't help think that not having the scent of bait in the water also helps with the shark situation.
Main emphasis for this trip was to test a range or two-toned Bucktail jigs (in both the Bucktail Banana and Hard Head Bucktail models), a new whiting worm Flig and a Saltwater Bucktail with a stinger hook arrangement.
Two Tone Bucktails - big tick.
Whiting Worm Flig - medium tick, worked but more refinement needed.
Saltwater Stinger Bucktail - worked but more hassle than its worth. Canned this idea, second hook made releasing fish a bit tricky and kept fouling the main hook after they'd been chewed on a bit.
Also did a heap of snorkelling, spearing and invested some fuel in some solid exploration for future trips.
I'll let the pics tell the main story but a few facts:
- 700l fuel burn
- 12 days at the islands
- Plenty of soft drink, H20 consumed
- Few night time Sambucas and Rums plus a two beer ration per night
- Managed to launch and retrieve the drone from the boat, which was a bit nerve wracking
- Big squid hunting in packs, great fun
- A few shark problems but only at a couple of spots
Roll on the next trip.

Sunday Morning Pinkies
Submitted by Mick C on Mon, 2022-05-02 22:28Headed out early Sunday from Hillarys for some Shore Catch product testing. We initially fished close to the marina, but the water was crystal clear and no bites except for “crap” fish.
Moved out onto the corals and schools of pinkies came through occasionally.
Fresh mulie floaters on Minn Kota spot lock, and whole local occy tentacle on 80g vexed botton meat that was Minn Kota "troll tracked" on "cruise control" at 0.3kn.
Checked by Fisheries on our return to the ramp. Inspected the boat and said "we don't need to measure those" .

Finally my first size dhue on the new boat
Submitted by still trying on Sun, 2022-05-01 14:56After my sons and my own covid lock downs we finally got out this morning for a snapper bash. Got down to woodies just after 5 and headed out to an area on the 5 that I have had some recent luck. Lost 2 Riga early wasn't ontop of sand so was a little bit worried, got a couple of pike I hate them bastards. Things went abit quiet but then just as the sun was poking over the horizon I got a bite on my brand new saragosa 6000 fish was going pretty hard and jerking around so I called it for a snapper and asked my son to get the net. After 3 nice runs got him to the surface and was stoked to see a nice size dhue, handy in 13m fish went 68cm. Had another run 20mins later and my son ran over and grabbed the rod only to get bitten off straight away, not sure if it was a shark or just them bloody pike damaging the leader earlier. Came in to a pot off the back of Garden island and got 4 crays to add to the bag.

Squiddy Fiddling
Submitted by big john on Thu, 2022-04-28 16:45Just returned from an epic 12 day product testing mission to the Montes.
The fishing (all jig or lure) was awesome, but the squidding was something else.
Big hungry tiger squid, including an epic session all captured on drone. I was catching them with 80lb leader on my jig rod, just tied on the jig that was handy.
Sight casting squid, good fun. Tasted pretty good too, especially the satay squid. :)
Here's a couple of pics to wet the squidders appetites out there.

Tuesdays fish
Submitted by Sea goat on Thu, 2022-04-21 18:44Snuck out on Tuesday for a quick fish. Lot of haze in the morning which made for sn epic sunrise. Conditions were ok, but seemed to be a tipping current. Struggled to hold ground even with the sea anchor out and a lot of weight! Fisher in the 40s for a baldy at 49cm, and a breaksea at 38. Nothing special but still a bag and counted myself lucky to even manage that! Was pretty hard work dealing with the sea anchor and reeling those weights from deep got a bit tiresome, but still a relaxing day! I can feel that big dhu getting closer!!!

Quick Shark Bay run
Submitted by kirky79 on Fri, 2022-04-15 16:02Hey Legends,
Haven't posted much lately as haven't been getting out very often and been crazy busy at work. But made plans about a month ago to do a boy's trip up to Peron National Park Shark Bay before the school holidays. So worked till 5 pm on the Monday before school broke up. My Brother in Law and his Son in Law rocked up and we were on the road at around 6 pm. We drove through till 3am and pulled over for a quick sleep only about an hour short of Denham.
Cruised in for a pie breakfast at the bakery then out to Peron. Had a basic camp with a gazebo, three swags and a couple of Engels to keep beers cold and fish frozen. We got out for an arvo sesh and got straight into some nice Black Snapper and a couple of just sized Pinkies. So a pretty good start. A few beers while collecting a few black rock crabs for the goal of some Tuskies the next day and an early night.
The bones were on the next day and everyone managed a couple of good sized ones for the day. The young fella Josh got the best for the day, showing the older more experienced two how it was done.
Was pretty well a carbon copy the next day but I got the chocolates with the best Tusky & Doug getting a nice Blacky on the last bait.
Thursday was our last fishing day and it was a bit quieter but still nothing to complain about. We tossed up going for an arvo fish but in the ended up drinking beer and talking shit.
All in all was a great little trip and will definitely have to do it again. Didn't get too many pics but will chuck a few up.
Cheers for reading.

Submitted by bkkguy on Sun, 2022-03-27 16:05 Hi Guys !
Hope everyone is fine and safe !
Thailand has started to reopening its airports and borders in 2022.
The covid measure has since been lowered to just one PCR test on arrival airport.
There will be no more quarantine for those vaccinated travelers but must wait for PCR test result to be negative before leaving your hotel.
After which, you need to do another one last ATK test on the 5th day at your bkk hotel.
To spike thing up. Here are some of my most recent fishing trips.
Hope you guys like my youtube video and supports my service.
If you are looking for short or long fishing vacation in Thailand, drop me an email or msg for enquiry.
