Busselton jetty
Submitted by Cameron71 on Sat, 2019-08-17 09:27
Solid session at the Busselton jetty last night. One pinky about 55 or 60 cm and a Mullaway that went to about 1.1 m. You can get a good idea of the size of the Mullaway if you happen to know how high the handrail is.

Looking to beg, borrow or hire a pneumatic pop riveter capable of pulling up 1/4 inch aluminium pop rivets with a 4mm spindle.
Only needed for a handfull of rivets.
Would consider buying if the price is right.
If anyone can help or put me onto someone who can it would be greatly apreciated.
Cheers,

Grady white seafarer 228 vs caribbean 2300/2400 vs cruise craft 685 opinions
Submitted by Joshua.cummins on Wed, 2019-08-14 17:46Hi guys,
I understand this topic has been touched somewhat awhile back but I was hoping to get some advice/ opinions regarding the above boats from people in WA fishing WA waters.
Ive narrowed down my search to these 3 boats based on research but would love to hear from someone who either owns or gets out on one of of these boats.
Of interest to me is:
Ride quality in WA chop
Stability at rest (drifting 3 blokes on one side)
fishing area
storage
and lastly cabin space large enough for 2 heading over to rotto of a night or two
Im leaning slightly toward a Grady white sole because they have a walk around which means I can fish soemone up front but I would love to hear any opininons good or bad on anything on at all about theses particular boats.
Thanks in advance.
Josh

Suzuki df140 corrosion issue.
Submitted by todd davies on Tue, 2019-08-13 16:55This may have already been done to death but if it hasn’t and you own a Suzuki df140 or it’s white cousin the Johnson 140 like I do between the years 2002 and 2007 it might be worth reading this. I will cut a long story short in the wisdom of the gurus at Suzuki they decided to place a mild steel plug in an alloy exhaust jacket component which is exposed to salt water and hot exhaust gases. Dis similar metals in that environment spells disaster a hole in motor and hot exhaust gasses burning out a wire loom that runs next to the fail zone. I just recently removed the plug by tig welding a 10 mm bolt to the plug once removed the corrosion was obvious. There was only one thread left on the female part of the thread. I have heard of people welding up the hole, I cleaned it up and built up the corroded area with plasti bond which is temp rated and bonds very well with Alli , get your hands on a m18 x1.5 tap and tap hole. Purchase a gold plug which are made for this issue. For more info on this issue google df140 engine holder corrosion. If ya got one of these motors looking at buying a pre loved boat motor package or know someone who has one worth looking at. I will try post some pics but not sure how. Hope this helps cheers Todd

Chart plotter programme for note book
Submitted by meglodon on Mon, 2019-08-12 15:23I am seeking a chart plotter/navigation programme to run on my laptop and want one that will use navionics cards. The two programmes I have in mind are the navionics PC plotter and C-Map.
If any members know of any other software that uses navionics cards I would appreciate being told about it.
Also if members could please give their opinions/views on either of the two programmes mentioned above they would be most appreciated
Why do I use a laptop you may ask, I'm as blind as a bat and I need a big screen and using a laptop is the cheapest way to get a 12" screen.

Cheers you dogs
Submitted by black gen on Sun, 2019-08-11 15:05Packing the boat this morning and realized my 1kw has gone and the 600w backup has also had a haircut
in atwell
not much you can do
my only thought is the rip it off each trip (I don’t use the boat as much as I once did) and just connect it up to the plug under the gunnel each time I’m heading out
not ideal but I’d have some money on them coming back for another visit because let’s face it, it will be replaced
On the plus side we ended up with a heap of whiting for bait for next years trips away
might leave the sounder at home more often

Boat transport
Submitted by Silver Fox on Fri, 2019-08-09 07:21I’m just about to pull the trigger on getting a larger vessel ( 28 ft Bruce Harris shark cat ) and I need to get it up to Carnarvon. I’ve thought of steaming it up here and decided that it’s a little too adventurous for me . The only other option is to stick her on the back of a low loader ( Flybridge necessitates this ) to get her up here. Any recommendations on transport companies ? . I’m also needing to find out who does boat lifting in Mandurah. Thanks in advance.

Shark Bay Cockles / Pipis
Submitted by Francis on Tue, 2019-08-06 23:05Hi folks,
Might be a silly question and apologies if it is - but I’m in shark bay for a week with the fam (not a fishing trip) and the 2 1/2 year old found a whole bunch of good size, empty cockle (pipi?) shells on the beach right in Denham. So im curious. Is there a good feed of cockles to be had here? Does anyone know if getting a few good cockles in shark bay is common ?
im also trying to find out if blue rings are a risk here as the little one loves walking the shallows and investigating everything. So while I’m asking the locals if anyone has an opinion, then happy to hear it !
Thanks !

Wet box install recommendations
Submitted by CD on Sun, 2019-08-04 11:41Hi guys
I’m having issues getting readings from my sounder over around 15 knots. It’s caused by the mount for the transducer which is pretty crap. Rather than replace the mount I figured I’d just go for a wet box install. The boat is a Haines 580 breeze and is running a TM260. Can anyone please recommend someone who could do the wet box installation for me?? I’ve searched on here and can find people who have done it themselves, but couldn’t find recommendations for places that do the installs.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Feathers / Foil rigs
Submitted by the_lane on Thu, 2019-08-01 09:55Hi,
In the UK we used to drop 4 hook rigs with feathers or foil and concistently catch Mackereal, Cod, Ling, Whiting. Not seen these types of rigs used anywhere in Perth. Are the fish here a bit smarter than to chase tin foil?
