Trip up to Denham early July

 Evening all,

Heading up to Denham for a week or so in the schol holidays (first week of July). I've got a 6.5m Chivers Predator, which is a very recent purchase, I'm thinking about towing it up there. Is it worth it? Taking the wife and the youngsters who love crabs and usual Snapper for dinner.

My question is, is it worthwhile taking it up there? Is there any consistent spots to drop a line in? Not after your spots or anything, just general advice please, they are more than used to me going out all day and bringing nothing home so would be nice to make a change!

Cheers,

Lofty

Tough day in perfect conditions yesterday

left Mindarie ramp in the dark yesterday morning, great conditions but fish not on the chew , 80mile traveled and at least 25 spots fishes from 28-69m for a bag of baldies , a big wobby and a few odds and sods , did not see one fish on the Furuno I would call a dhu , oh well got a feed and bagged out but no dhu. Can’t have it your way every time.

Three day trip to kalbarri with old fishing mates.

Sounder vs Gopro images

I have been doing a bit of gopro videoing to compare with sounder images lately. A lot of learning and trying to document where I can. After reading a lot of sounder how to's I questioned with some of the things stated, which I'm trying to prove with the footage. Anyway I thought a couple of people could be interested and I could upload things as I learn, or with a PM I could share more. I had transfered my old images to an SD card but they got corrupted so I only have the last couple of sessions now! Ended up c/r about 14 dhus over the last two days, one went 10kg but the rest all arond the 6kg and under mark. Most were on a new 300g jig which goes against what a lot recommend, but helps tracking the boat with a resonable drift so you end up covering more fish. Put in a couple of other screengrabs from the last couple of sessions.

building a home in two rocks

so my wife and i are pretty keen on building a house in Two rocks. We went to the bank to see how much they would lend us and its pretty ridiculous but they said the maxium we could lend is $941000. Not that we plan on borrowing that much. This will be our first purchase and just wanted any advice from people that have gonr through the steps of building. we found a block we like and know that two rocks doesnt have deep water sewerage so we will have to put in a septic tank that will cost $8500 and retaining will cost a bit. What other costs should i be thinking off? Regards Josh

Snapper rigs

Hey guys. Wondering if I could just get peoples input on what pound leader is preferable when snapper fishing? Also any preferred brands? I have also been wondering about circle hooks? Hiw do you think these perform compared to the old suicide hooks, and what size would you generally use?

thanks heaps! Am determined to get a few this winter, so will be plenty of early starts!!!!

Drum Anchor winch rope

 hey guys,

any recommendations on anchor rope for a drum winch? Currently have 90m of 6mm double braid (not sure if nylon or poly) with 8m of chain and have snapped it twice while retrieving anchor. First time was after a scuba dive so managed to get it back easily enough. Second time was when I was fishing, Ended up marking spot and diving to get it the following week. It snapped as I drove up to it to retrieve it obviously caught and a bit of swell caused the boat to lift and it snapped straight up.

Thinking of upgrading the rope to 8mm double braid nylon as 6mm i think is too thin, won’t get 90m on it but can settle for less rope..

oh and It’s a sarca anchor so should in theory slide off the reef to retrieve and it’s expensive enough to warrant diving for it.

An equipment warning self bailers

Went out last week in the arfo, was sitting there on the anchor when we noticed water coming in the scuppers, started up,bilge pump on pulled the anchor headed back to hillarys

Week before I'd  put on a self bailer bung so I thought to myself had the tube come off. Went down on the back board could feel the rubber bit had come off replaced it with a normal bung and went back fishing. It was filling up with water like Id left the bung out. This could have ended differently had it have been dark! Be aware of these things if using them. They may need a steel hose clip or some thimg to hold them on.
