4.5 to 5m Tinny
Submitted by Occy85 on Sat, 2014-04-12 22:13I am looking at buying a 4.5 to 5m tinny for the pilbara waters. What would people recommend? Looking at it being an all round boat for creeks and a little island work

inconsiderate fisheries
Submitted by petermac on Sat, 2014-04-12 19:53the big fisheries rib had a steering malfunction after launching at point peron this morning (they hadn't left the ramp before it failed) , so what do they do pull there boat into the shallow end of the ramp , which meant that nobody could use that ramp they blocked it up for a good 30 minutes , I suggested they move out deeper on the ramp so it could be used and they said "nope not doing it " as you could imagine it was as busy as could be down there this morning fisheries should not have been so selfish and hogging a whole ramp to themselves I have seen 4 boats tied up on a single ramp there every one being patient, its when things like what the fisheries did this morning tempers fray

Today's Banger
Submitted by sea-kem on Sat, 2014-04-12 17:58Headed out today in absolute mint conditions, Did the usual and anchored up on a huge lump I found in the mid 20's. The deckie dropped his bait on the head of a 18kg Sambo that nearly tore the old boys arms off lol. Lots of Undersize Dhuies put no Pink which was disapointing. So headed out to the mid 30's and a good cray pot line Using my PE 2-4 Demon blood with has a Stella 500 paired to it it loaded up and took off. I could'nt get it off the bottom for about 5 mins and started to think it was a Shark. Slowly started to gain some ground when finally we saw the silver flash down below and the grin on my face grew. She was shot when she hit the surface but glad to get the net under her 11.8 kg oh caught on a Mulie. As we were doing this my other rod loaded up and another Banger at 5 kg. After that I managed two Pinkies at 10mm under grrr. But it we all had fun and some other big fish lost so frustration plus.

Tailor
Submitted by lachieH on Sat, 2014-04-12 17:11I know that I have been posting a lot of threads lately but I am very keen on catching my first tailor and because its the school holidays I have all the time in the world to do it. I live very close to the mt Henry bridge and do have some 10g halco twisty's and will go whenever I need to.
Have heard that the best time for tailor fishing is at dusk, but will try to pick a change of tide close to dusk as well. Have a rod with a 15-30lb mono mainline I think (not sure) and am probably going put a 30lb leader on (this is the poundage that I have heard works best). Any suggestions on land based locations in the river?

New lure casting rod
Submitted by Jimmysparks on Fri, 2014-04-11 19:35Snapped my graphite 9ft casting rod last weekend, spewing I loved that rod. Any recommendations. Didn't want to spend more than $200. Will be matched with either slammer 560 or 360 depending on species and strong enough to throw 65gram metals for salmon down south. Cheers boys

Kalbarri Questions
Submitted by snapper_seeker on Fri, 2014-04-11 19:21Hi guys, heading up to kalbarri on Sunday and just wondering if anyone has been up there in the last week or two, if so I was wondering what area the mackies are in because last year we just couldn't get on to them! Have tried the search function but can't find any recent mack reports. Also is it worth soaking a big bait at night around the river mouth or off some of the jettys for shovel nose, mullys, bull sharks ect?
cheers,

White Point
Submitted by robduca on Fri, 2014-04-11 08:19Im heading to White Point next week for a night or 2. Never been there and don't know anyone that has.
A couple of questions I have are-
1. What are the tracks and beach like? Is it a hard 4x4 track or a nice easy 4x4? I don't mind either way but would be nice to know.
2. What is the beach like for fishing there? Are there lumps of reef there or all beach? Im guessing we will catch the same as most beaches like Salmon, Tailor, Herring, hopefully a shark.. Anything I should know about the fishing there? Gear to take..
Thanks in advance :)

Out Around Rotto
Submitted by Lavs on Thu, 2014-04-10 21:43Hi Guys,
Taking the mrs for a night on the boat at rotto on Sunday, and wanting to get out early for a fish in the morning.
Plan is to do some bottom bashing, maybe plastics. Hoping to get some pointers as to any general areas worth a go. Don't like heading too far off the back when its just the two of us.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - not looking for co-ords or anything but any general tips would be good.
Cheers,
Lavs

Point Walter Spit
Submitted by lachieH on Thu, 2014-04-10 19:10Hi everyone. Heading down to point Walter jetty for some tailor on halco twisty's. What gram twisty would you recommend? Anyway got a size 4000 reel with about a 20-30lb mainline. 7.2ft rod. Will add a 50lb trace. Will this get good casting distance. And also would the tailor be slowing down now?
