Sambo off rocks in Denmark by accident when going for Salmon
Submitted by NeverNotSpurs on Wed, 2014-04-09 18:37Hey guys we were in Denmark for a couple of days for Salmon when this 12kg Sambo took the live herring inside a bay(Not straight out off the point as you can see in the photo, that's where it headed straight for after taking line).
Anyone else bringing up anything nice unnintentionally while going for Salmon recently? Also brought up a decent Bonito.

Can't get full Throttle
Submitted by Didzy on Wed, 2014-04-09 12:11Gday Fellas
Got another problem that I'm sure one of you will know the answer to!!
Was out on the water yesterday had no dramas til I was about 20kms out and the engine
started to struggle!! I immediately thought it was bad fuel and inspected the water trap filter that
runs between fuel tank and engine and the bottom of it was full of shit!! I drained it connected back up and tried priming it but the primer wouldn't pump til it was hard!! Got it started and putted back in at 7 knots but yeah to me it's like there's a block in fuel line between primer and tank!!
Does this sound right??
Cheers Didz

Heads UP - Fake Paypal email
Submitted by psion on Wed, 2014-04-09 08:13Heads up guys
it keeps coming round, different face, same scam.
I just recieved a fake email from Paypal saying I need to re-activate my account due to unsual activity. Be careful and check direct with Paypal.
This is a scam. check the following
1\ it says Dear member (and not your name)
2\ when you click on the button to access your account, it takes up to a website that is a duplicate of Paypal's. check the folllowing
2.1/ try the different menu options, you'll find they don't work, the only on that will work is the login data.
2.2/ check the linked address, it'll be different to paypals
2.3/ play safe and go to the paypal site directly through your browser and not through the offered link
3\ the language is suspect, not the normal writing style.
4\ delete the email or move it to your junkmail folder.
these sites will dump your username and password on a different site and the scammers will own a stella +++++
Its difficult to catch them as they operate internationally and seem to rotate through countries, looks like it our turn.
cheers

Submitted by barcrusher bjs on Tue, 2014-04-08 19:50Guys,
I need to change a heap of spots from the GPS format on the bottom to the top format, has anyone got any ideas ?
S91°00.2200'

19.01.1310S
149.25.9750E
GPS spots have been changed so they are not actually hot spots.

Have a laugh.
Submitted by Dazza1611 on Tue, 2014-04-08 19:23Thought I would share so you can all have a laugh.
first time in Carnarvon, told to go to the Blowholes for a fish. So off I go, as keen as mustard.
First cast, 2 good bites.
second cast, fish on but it takes me into the reef.
new rig
third cast I am on again. Good sized fish. Fighting away and the reel shits itself.
Worst part, only bought 1 rod with me and off the Exmouth tomorrow.
bugga, oh well next time...

Opinions please on replacement gear
Submitted by Boydy on Tue, 2014-04-08 18:06Hi All,
Chasing opinions on replacing an OH bottom bashing combo I had knocked off recently.
Generally fish around 40m-80m. Can use anything from 12oz-24oz of weight depending on current, swell etc. Won't be used for trolling or jigging.
Thinking PE4-6. Don't want a tank but something that will still get fish on the boat.
Budget will be round about $800-$1000 including line.
At this stage looking at the Talica 10 or 12, Marquesa 16, Trinadad 16A.
Rods completely open, not usually a Daiwa user but trying to be open minded.
Gezzz the more I look the more unsure I get, welcome your suggestions.
Cheers.

Looking to help out some fellow fishermen
Submitted by dalaisc on Tue, 2014-04-08 14:54Sup Peeps
I am in Bali at the moment and have met a couple of wicked local blokes who love their fishing but cannot afford good gear.
My in-laws are heading over here in June and I am going to send these boys some gear. If you have any old gear that you no longer use that you can donate I can collect and pass on to these guys.
If visit the Dynast hotel in Kuta and talk fishing with the boys down the beach then you would probably know Yogi and Johno (the Dynast photographer).
These boys are mad keen jiggers and are happy to share their local knowledge and put you onto a traditional fisherman who will take you out for a small fee.

Theres always a great wealth of knowledge and information available to all the members on here, and we look forward to contributing to the site as much as possible. if you have any queries feel free to PM us or even call us at the shop on 9383 3234. just to get us started I have included a few photos from the last few months or so, most fish caught local except the barra etc which were from a trip up north.

Song sung during fishing
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2014-04-08 12:44Just had a thought. We have a few "theme" song that for fun we sing when we catch certain species. The 2 main ones that come to mind up north was - Golden Trevally - "Hey Hey you you, Get off a my cloud" Rolling Stones but particular the Mick Jagger lips. Red emporor UB40 "Red red wine". Usually the chant start when you ID the fish in the water. Squid the theme music to Star wars as they look like aliens!!!!
Anyone else have fun ritual songs or habits or are we the only idiots

Best month to go to Horricks
Submitted by meglodon on Mon, 2014-04-07 22:50Hi all, can the good F/W members advise me on what are the best months to go to Horricks to do some bottom bashing. Also can you launch from the beach I have a 6m quinine ocean sport with a 115 yammie. I've never been there before but I have heard some quite remarkable stories about what the fishing is like up there, any tips or advice about the place would also be most appreciated.
Thanks

Autumn River Fishing
Submitted by lachieH on Mon, 2014-04-07 19:40High everyone. With the school holidays coming up I was wondering if there would be any good fish for daytime to dusk fishing. While it is cooling down the flathead should be moving out, so I won't be fishing for those. Bream should stay all year round is any suitable spots for them? Also is it worth a shot going for tailor on the Halco Twisty's? If so is there any productive spots for them in the cooler months.
Also for all tailor fishing, what pound leader and what type would you use for river tailor and the north mole. It has been my goal for a while to catch my first tailor and have been trying for a while.

Kalbarri river gear
Submitted by Ben01 on Mon, 2014-04-07 09:51Just after suggestions for gear appropriate for the Murchison in Kalbarri and for light beach use with little/no swell. Something suitable for a calm perth beach also.
Not for chasing anything too big, just the bread and butter stuff. And has to be female friendly - yes chasing something small enough for the missus and also something I can also use when back in Perth off a calm beach or jetty/rocks for whiting/herring/small tailor etc etc...
Mainly bait use but don't mind flicking the occasional lure or plastic...
Prefer fibreglass :) Budget preferably under $250.
** I was thinking maybe a Silstar crystal power tip in either 7' or 8'. Can get the 7' (4 - 7kg's) with an Okuma Avenger 40 reel for around $140.**
Thanks guys.

Tournament 2250 Walkaround Help
Submitted by A-SALT-WEAPON on Sun, 2014-04-06 22:16I need some help with trying to track one down and someone who ownes a 2250 walkaround tournament in Perth, there's no more dealers in Perth so i cant look at one. I'd like to buy one but there all over East. I've looked over the mustang 2250 its seems like a nice boat. They changed to tournament now haines group make them. I believe there's one in the boat storage in Freo next to little creatures. Has anyone been fishing in one and are they any good. I'm suprised there not a bit more popular as the walkaround section seems awsome for a fibre glass boat. Any reviews would be appreciated and if i could look at one would even better.
