Guys, i have a Lowrance HOOK 7, can anyone advise if i can upgrade the transduer or where i might find info on upgrading transduers

Well the R-soles have done it again, Tims Thicket and White Hills closed off again as the idiot brigade once again have trashed both beaches, sand hills cut up and rubbish left everywhere. Why for the love of me are we blessed with dickheads who come and wreck the place, no doubt the same half wits run around on Australia Day with Chinese made flags trying to impress everyone with their love of our nation.

 A tackle shop in busselton called 2 oceans tackle put a video on facebook showing the new mapping card.Shit video but you get the idea. It will be awesome for the deep droppers as it is a 3D map of the bottom with great detail including the deep stuff. Just one problem,price tag of $899

Poor buggers . Took them down to pond. It’s got me why longnecks travel so far from water to dig and lay eggs .

Just wondering whats out there these days for throwing 60-85g metals on 30lb braid. Looking for something in the 12ft graphite range.

budget under $200 and will put a stradic 8000 on it.

If anyone can help it will be much appreciated.

With all this craziness in the world and things a little pear shaped a day on the water is the best exercise and helps mental health big time, my 14 yo asked me last month if he could get his skippers ticket, sure I said, we did some study together and it was great for me to refresh my brain on all the rules and regulations associated with being a skipper, we booked the lad with Perth boat school at Hillarys and left him with the instructor, a few hours later the boat turns up and he climbs out with skippers ticket in hand, pretty proud dad to say the least.in the last couple of weeks with all this social distancing stuff it has been great to be able to get out a couple of times just the 2 of us, still leaving home at 4am and getting on the water well before sunrise , had a couple of great days out with my son and did not have to give half the catch to the deckie,in a couple more years when his restrictions are lifted I can see him taking us out to the bank .here are a couple of photos of our days out , cheers

The big bull Herring are now in down in the SW and plenty around at the moment.

Caught a couple of dozen today and noticed every fish was full of Roe.

Does that mean its only the females that are here at the moment?

Seems like an obvious question/answer if they are full of Roe but if it is only the ladies here then where are the boys?

Also it seems to me they might be a month early with their spawning from previous years so i assume thats a Leeuwin current thing.

Is there anyone here that can shed some light on the above?

 So, what's people's opinion on the white crays, do they move in from the deep and if so how deep? or are they already in close and just mault and head out wide again?

Have heard many different theories over the years and always good to learn more.

Took up fishing with my six year old son in the summer and started down at the Point Walter jetty in Bicton.
Apart from catching a blue swimmer crab on our first outing, every outing after that was brutal with blowies pinching out bait within seconds.
But we did get to practise our casting and all the basics, so it was good from that point of view.
Any recommendations for Swan river spots I can take him in the autumn, where blowies aren't as prevalent?
Is the Point Walter jetty any better at night in terms of blowies?

Getting bored with lock down, so killing time online looking at a new combo.

I have PE2 and PE3 slow pitch combo's covered however looking for a shorter (6ft or less) rod and overhead reel that can be left in the rod holder dragging a sinker across the bottom while I jig. Will also double as a heavier slow jig and fast jig combo, particularly in deeper water. 

I like the idea of the Ocean's Legacy Adrenaline PE 3-6. However keen to hear if there are other options in a similar price bracket (or less)

Not sure about the reel. Jigging Master PE3 would be great but don't want to spend anywhere near that much. Have looked at the Torium 16, is the Tyrnos a better choice? Any other options?

ive found a number of quality boat rods at woodies point ramp in the car park today. Let me know how many, brands, etc, and youse can have them back. 

 Anybody else encounter schools of blowies Myalup way? Went out a few weeks back and setup for an evening/night fish. Caught a few whiting and set them up as live bait .. they would last about 20 minutes .. so then tried a set of gangs to see if i could catch whatever it was .. all i got back was a cleaned out whiting skull .. even into the brain cavity ... musta been blowies surely .. never known anything else to chew a fresh whiting that fast

 So, without wanting to start another 5 page discussion, who is putting the boat on the water, and who is taking out non-family members?

I have been doing a bit of reading through old posts about fishing the southern flats and other areas in the sound. There seem to be a fair few comments saying if you are fishing shallow weed/sand areas and trumpeter are a problem, then use burley to get rid of them??

Is this correct or am I reading it wrong? Also does the same apply for butterfish?

Also any comments regarding the use of chook pellets to attract KGs? This also seemed to pop up a bit.

 It's been since January I heard of this problem in the Swan and was wondering if it is still a problem.  Thinking of a quick evening fish in the upper reaches for a couple of hours with my daughter.

forecast was good so John wanted to get some house on the new motor,it was a bit rough early and then it improved. the ducks were insane but the dollies wanted to play. we only used 3 jigs all day and never lost a fish. kept our six and back home. total isolation as there was no one else out there. great day out and about.

 Did anyone see the boat come unstuck on channel 7 news tonight, poor buggers I only saw the end of the report with the boat getting wiped out big time whilst coming in through the heads of some harbour in a following sea. One minute it was there the next instant it was totally gone.

What is better..... PFDs that are a manual pull tab or auto inflate once hit water,??

 Took my son out on the weekend, I did feel sorry for him he hadn't left the house in 3 weeks, I didn't think that's too good for anyone. He caught most of this his flounder was 38cm.

Page 14 of todays West Australian news paper has a half page story of a tragedy that occurred in the Mandurah estuary a short while back which resulted in a person loosing his life when the boat was in collided with a marker in the early morning.
This story is a good example of why drinking alcohol or taking drugs is not a good idea whilst on the water and gives the water police a very good reason to haul you over and give you a breath test if they thing you have been drinking. By the way I drink but not when in command of a boat.

 In line with the kids fishing part. I'm thinking of one of these for the 40m bottom fishing for my kids 8 and 11 until they get the lift and wind part down pat. These claim 12kg drag pressure and only 440 grams. Might be a good starting point for them and reasonably priced  or am I spoiling them? Any thoughts?

My youngest boy who is 8 is mad keen into fishing however when we fish in 40m plus he finds it too hard to wind up the sinker let alone if he caught something. I’m thinking of a snapper winch but cannot find who sells them and how would I install as my boat is glass and don’t want to bolt anything however I do have rod holders already. Any suggestions? Cheers

while I had a big bait out put on some 

chasers with tiny pieces of squid and 

managed our whiting quite easily.. had

one hit on the big rod.. other than that

bit quiet.. hoping the salmon arnt far .

 Got the Fads the other day with the kids (marine biology lesson). Super proud dad watching them give it a red hot go bringing in the Dollies. Only kept four. Thanks to the guys that helped us with some bait as they would not touch any lure.  Kids didn't like the blood tho. 

 My neighbour was lucky to get home, his wheel ended up at a 45 degree angle !

The end of the axle is now worn away where the outer bearing disintergrated, so a new axle is required.

I can buy a galvanised axle from Martins but have to weld on a black steel brake caliper bracket, which is not ideal. (not a fan of cold galv).

Can you buy a factory style axle where everything is galvanised?

Its a quintrex and you cant seem to buy parts that I can find on the web.

Was going for kgs , gave me a workout. Coughed up 2 fish size of herring when it hit deck. I can not figure out what they are ,to me they look identical to Redfin perch.( impossible) any ideas?
