saltiga 4500z line capacity?
Submitted by Johnyy_Boii on Sun, 2010-10-31 13:07just wondering what the line capacity is on the saltiga 4500z?
i was on the daiwa site and it says 300m of pe3, and on all there other 4500 size reels there capacity is 300m of pe4, was wondering if they did a mistake or is it really only that much? I was looking to get one for this sambo season but if they only hold 300m of 30lb i guess id have to look at something else.
if anyone has one, please let me know on how the capacity is.

"Jacko's fish tips" Demersal closure
Submitted by seaswirl on Sat, 2010-10-30 12:13In todays (30-10-10) West Australian Newspaper, Glen Jakovich talks about the Demersal closure and the rules and penalties for breaches. The following is taken directly from the artical.....
" If any fishos are found trying to catch these species during the closure period they could face a $400 infringement notice, regardless of whether or not they have caught a fish".....so I guess this means that you can not even catch and release these species????

Fisheries Department war on illegal fishing in the Pilbara
Submitted by bod on Fri, 2010-10-29 05:03Fisheries Department media release
'New mobile patrols are frontline in Fisheries Department war on illegal fishing'
In Karratha for a meeting of Regional Cabinet, Fisheries Minister Norman Moore took time to talk with staff and view one of the recently introduced mobile patrol vehicles which covers the Pilbara region.
The effectiveness of the mobile patrols’ compliance activities was shown by recent successes in catching and prosecuting fishers who flouted the law.
Mr Moore said he wanted to ensure the Department of Fisheries was resourced to deal more adequately with the rising number of recreational fishers in the Pilbara.
“Recreational fishing is a very popular pastime with employees in the Pilbara’s surging resources sector,” he said.
“Local fisheries staff have reported rising numbers of boats and fishers in the Pilbara and, while the great majority of fishers are law abiding and understand the need to conserve fish stocks, some do engage in illegal fishing.
“Three men were recently ordered to pay more than $13,600 in fines, penalties and court costs when they appeared in a Port Hedland court to answer fisheries charges.
“They were caught by one of the Fisheries Department’s mobile land-patrol teams in July. In one case a fisher was caught with 22 undersize fish and 31 fish above the bag limit.
“In another case, two offenders were jointly charged with having 18 fish more than the allowed limit.”
Further prosecutions are under way in Port Hedland and the Minister urged all fishers to abide by Western Australia’s sustainability rules to ensure there were fish for future generations.
Mr Moore said the recently introduced mobile patrols had new four-wheel-drive vehicles, equipped with high-tech communications equipment to help officers in general monitoring work and to respond quickly to illegal fishing reports.
“There are two mobile patrol vehicles based in the north: one in Broome, which covers the West Kimberley and Pilbara, and the other in Kununurra, for East Kimberley compliance work,” he said.
The Minister reminded fishers of the need for a licence to fish from a motorised vessel and to know and adhere to the various fishing rules in regions across WA. There is more information at www.fishforthefuture.com.au.
Details on the recreational fishing rules that apply across the State are also online at www.fish.wa.gov.au.

Sambo Jigging Jigs
Submitted by ADDICT- dUFFMAN on Thu, 2010-10-28 18:13Having never been sambo jigging before im heading out soon after winning a competition aboard Mills Charters
Just a few questions:
1) What brand and size jigs do Mills or other companies use?
2) How much do the charter companies charge for replacement?
3) is it worth buying your own jigs and bringing them along?
4) what jigs (brand and weight) are affordable but reliable on sambos that come with pre-tied assist hooks?
Cheers in advance for ya replies

importing expensive gear from the USA, be careful!!
Submitted by gavman on Thu, 2010-10-28 17:22hi everyone, im new here, looked on your site a number of times but never joined, but i just had an experience that i had to share, it prob has been talked about on here before but i ordered a lowrance hds7 from wmj marine in the US, seemed a pretty good deal at $1000, $600 cheaper than in aus, add the card for all of aus for another $280 and still looking good. now here is the tricky part, you can get it sent via united states postal service for around $60 and it takes 4 weeks or so, or for $170 you can get fedex to send it quicker, still about 2 weeks.
what they dont tell you is that once any package arrives in aus that is worth more than $1000 US you have to pay customs taxes, which includes gst and fees. and that customs tax for my unit was $200, so all up now this cheap looking package from overseas is really not worth the wait, still cheaper than aus but for all the stuffing around i wouldnt bother again, i really should have supported local business.
what got me the most is the excessive customs tax, i had no idea about that and wmj never told me, of course, which pissed me off, i emailed them and they said that next time they can write down the value to less than $1000, and i responded saying there wont be a next time and it would have been nice to know about this extra costs they knew about.
anyways i just thought id let you guys know in case your thinking of taking advantage of the good aussie dollar!!
i get the hds7 early next week so hopefully it does ok, not sure what happens with the warranty seeing as the unit is from the us.
take it easy

Please vote for my fish cartoon on facebook
Submitted by drex on Thu, 2010-10-28 16:09Hey,
I've been bored as I haven't been able to get out on the ocean.
So I've entered a comp to win a BBQ.
I created a cartoon with fish singing to Bohemian Rhapsody on a BBQ hotplate. Me and a couple of mates tried to sing.
If you want to see it and vote and comment you need to have a facebook account.
1) You need to click 'like' Appliances Online Australia @ http://www.facebook.com/ap pliancesonline.com.au
and
2) Watch my video then click 'like'. You'll find it in the video section in the tabs across the top.
To win I need to get as many votes as possible. I've got about 83 at the moment. I need about 200.
It's worth checking out I think it's quite funny.
Cheers
