banax reel
Submitted by kane on Wed, 2009-03-04 03:43Hi
Ive got a banax overhead reel for sale.
To be ohnest I dont know too much about the brand, I bought the reel in Singapore a couple of months ago as a cheaper reel I could leave at work without fear of it being pinched.
I have found a link to an ebay listing of the same reel for more info if it helps....
The one I have is loaded with 40Lb mono as I have used it while moving the rig as a trauling setup.
Unfortunately I have to say its never caught a fish, the airation and wash created by the rig moving through the water really disrupts the lures and you have to let out say 500metres to get back far enough into better water. So the trauling behind the rig idea was a bit of a waste of time.
Anyway Im open to offers on it, I dont expect too much for it.
The catch is Im away working for another 4 weeks so whoever wants it will have to wait for me to get home with it then.
Have a good one,
Kane

getting new pair polaroids - lense colour?
Submitted by HuggyB on Mon, 2009-03-02 19:49Previously I got the bronze lenses (spotters) and they were awesome, but I'm wondering if there is any benifit to getting the mirrored versions in blue or whatever for off-shore fishing rather than the bronze lenses? I've also red rose works well in flats type fishing.
What does everbody else wear? Not so much worried about brands, more the lense colours.

Aquaculture Help
Submitted by Peter Mac on Mon, 2009-03-02 14:14Hey All,
Currently in the process of stocking the large soak (5000m2) on our property.
At this stage I am planning on stocking with Silver Perch and Marron. I have read all that I can find on the internet and am just about ready to start doing some trials...
Has anyone been down this path before, have any advice, relevant contacts etc.
Any assistance appreciated :)
Cheers,
Pete

I recently had a Diawa RCS knob put on my 3000 Heartland.
I thought I might post up a picture to show a comparison to the one Matt has placed on his reel.

Yabbies as bait
Submitted by LandyAndy on Sun, 2009-03-01 17:19Anybody use freshwater yabbies for bait in saltwater????
Im thinking of using them(tails and whole) in leu of prawns for whiting/skippy/herring.
These are well too small to eat.

Submitted by Shorty on Sun, 2009-03-01 15:09Was in my local Compleat Angler store the other day (Rockingham,,i wanted a companion to my harmitsu in the purple colour,,i was looking at a Pink one in case the squid wernt going for purple some days,,anyway Mark there gave a good deal on the above jig and asked for some feedback on how they go,,
Bad news Mark throw then out,no good ,,the squid in the pics are paid actors and so is the kayaker,,,someone might suggest the paid actor got his limit in a hour and a bit,,this might be true

Who needs to go down south to catch salmon
Submitted by Colin Hay on Sat, 2009-02-28 20:33
While all the keen Perth landbased anglers are eagerly awaiting news that the salmon run has started down south, Sherbs and Damo though they would get the jump on everyone and warm up on the recent run of metropolitan salmon.
Sherbs caught his on a parternoster rig, baited with blue bait, fishing in a nice surf gutter, while Damo had his StarloStick in action working metal lures near a reef edge.
For those who aren't aware, there has been quite a good run of reasonable sized salmon in Perth in recent months.
Woodmans Point has held a good school or two, while the northern beaches from Swanbourne to Trigg have all turned up the occassional good size fish.
So if you are keen to get into the salmon this season, why not warm up on your local Perth beach - like Sherbs and Damo.
All the best, Colin Hay
