Holly Cow
Submitted by meglodon on Wed, 2018-11-28 19:15Did anyone else see the size of the cow on channel seven news tonight. Talk about big I have never heard of cattle getting that big 6 4 at the shoulder that is a lot of bovine. If you ran into that at night in the patrol or land cruiser your car would most certainly come of second best

Preston beach

New wave buoys offshore of Watermans Bay and Sandpatch/Albany
Submitted by jhans on Tue, 2018-11-27 11:15All,
UWA has recently developed a website (www.wawaves.org) to display real-time data from two wave buoys, one 10 km west of Watermans Bay and a second just offshore of Sandpatch in Torbay/Albany. We are also planning to deploy two additional buoys in the next ~6 months, one NW of Rottnest and second in deep water offshore of Albany/Denmark. All historic data can be downloaded from the website (free for non-commercial use). The data from these buoys is provided as a service to the community so please don’t run over, tie off to, or steal the buoys.
Enjoy!

Guilderton/Moore River advice
Submitted by MAGA2020 on Tue, 2018-11-27 10:57Got some time in lieu and im thinking of going to Guilderton/Moore river for the weekend. Just wondering if anyone lives nearby or have been recently and can give a report on the weed (if there is any)
I know north of the groyne/lighthouse does alright, but south has some deep guttersd and some ok breaks judging by google maps. I got a ford ranger but my rubber isnt the best for sand, but i should be able to get close to most areas. Probably going to fish about 4oz of lead and use some mullet strips and bring some light gear for whiting.
The mulloway itch is pretty bad after coming back from Kalbarri.
Any advice on the current conditions or sandtracks would be appreciated :)

How to actually catch something this season, occy pot (aka waste of space)
Submitted by scano on Mon, 2018-11-26 19:58So a good mate of ours has one of those plastic occy pots, that is square, with the flashing crab that goes at the back, has the snap shut trapdoor etc. despite it being deployed amongst crayfish country that has yeilded good results (on the crayfish front) for the past 2 years, the bloody occy pot hasn’t caught so much as a cold!
Having tried the same ground as where the crays come from (you get the odd Occy in cray pots each year after all), different depths, replacement of the “pressure sensitive” flashing crab, adjustment of the trapdoor tension etc, the bloody thing has never caught a single occy in its life.
so my question is this, has anyone else got much the same pots? Have they caught anything? What sort of ground is it best to deploy the overpriced, and overrated octopus hotel in? Sandy bottom, or straight on the reef etc.
any pointers would be appreciated. The goal is to have this overpriced disco pipe (the crab flashes apparently) catch at least 1 or 2 occy’s this cray season. Advice and responses on the matter would be appreciated. Scano

Cray rope rules
Submitted by little johnny on Mon, 2018-11-26 19:48Pretty simple and great idea. Look at picture . Small float in case someone cuts you of.( very unlikely). 3 big links of of chain. Extend rope by 5 meters . Another words add 5 meters to main rope , to pot line.if you get cut off. Good chance in getting pot back.chain slides off little float pops up.anyway just an idea for new potters. Makes boating safer done it for years. Great rule by fisheries in my books

Reels in Pelican Cases, photos?
Submitted by K_willo on Fri, 2018-11-23 14:44 Hey Guys,
Considering getting a pelican case to protect my beloved spinning reels through airports and general travel. Just made myself a little template with paper and am arranging them all to see how they would fit. Can anyone post of up photos of their current setup to give me some ideas?
Feel free to chip in ideas about how thin you can make the foam, how many reels, ideal sizes etc..
Cheers lads.

New to the forum, but look forward to joining in on the discussions and stories!
Heading up to Shark Bay, looking at staying at Monkey Mia, intend on taking the boat with us, can anyone let me know what the boat ramp is like to launch a 2400 Noosa?
And is the fishing reasonable this time of year??
Cheers

Cray dive and swimmer
Submitted by Kakkerlak on Wed, 2018-11-21 09:07A mate of mine has a cray license and wants to go for a free dive on the weekend for crays. I don't have a license and was wondering if I went swimming/ snorkeling with him and fisheries pulled up there will be a issue? Note I will not be diving for crays.

I know it is getting closer to Christmas
Submitted by sunshine on Tue, 2018-11-20 16:34But I was stunned at the price of fish fillets at Kailis yesterday, Dhuie was $89.95 per kilo, many of the other more common species, snapper, goldband, red emp etc all over $55 a kilo. Having recently eaten gurnard in NZ and being very pleasantly surprised at how good it was, saw some also for sale at the same place.
On a lighter note, shhhhhhh, wind looking good to get the boat wet in the morning
