Stern saver
Submitted by Curndog on Fri, 2022-01-21 17:37
Has anyone got a seaworthy stern pad on back of there glass boat? I bought it online from boat warehouse and in description says jumbo has a strength of 400kgs. When I open packet it says max transducer weight of 3 pounds (1.3kgs). I was planning on fixing a tm260 to it which would weigh at a guess 2kgs. Not sure if I should do it or not

Thursday Session
Submitted by Brock O on Fri, 2022-01-21 07:47Day out yesterday in pretty nice conditions, head out 40ks to try me luck finding some new ground. Bit slow going early until we found some hard ground in the 50s resulting in a few solid BA for mate Leah...struggled for a bit before moving into the 60s and finding a small lump and showing which resulted in a nice 850 Dhue tipping 10kg, was a funny fight losing the initial fish well off the bottom before the heavier model jumped straight on...must have been following it up...seems the big fella had survived a previous fight with a 80g jig already in its gob.
Second drift didn't produce any fish but a first with a massive GW showing up from deep below...would have went 4m plus easy and very fat, amazing to see her circle a few times but after missing the first close show was under able to get any decent photos...but made my day, was a beast!!
Moved into the 40s for a bit...no fish but sounder shot had me thinking the big girl was still down there.
30s we tried for a few KG's, decided to rig the 80g jig found in the Dhues month...resulting what I was calling a massive kidney slapper...didn't last long before something took this hard snapping me off. In all an enjoyable day out.
Bit more good weather to come..get out there gents and tight lines!!

Metro Pelagics
Submitted by Subaquatic on Tue, 2022-01-18 10:40Water tempertures seem reasonable, but not seeing or hearing much inshore Metro Mack action.
We thrashed the water to foam last week, from Hillarys to Mindarie, and didnt see a thing. Not even any birds working in close. Anyone else had any joy?

Monkey Mia Sucess next Trip Exmouth in April
Submitted by tennis coach on Sun, 2022-01-16 09:02HI Guys,
Well we have just returned from our annual week camping in Monkey Mia
We had a few windy days but still managed to get out to the first channel most days for an hour or two
Luckily for us that was all we needed
Managed to get all the usual suspects, lots of school Mackeral, blue lined - Black Snapper, estuary cods, sharks off the beach, my son is 6'3 and wanted one bigger then him - job done
Big gold spot first drop of the trip which I originally called for a shark
Well we didn't travel more than 3 miles in our 4.8 m boat and whilst some larger boats headed round the west, we managed more than most on the fillet table
We do have our next trip in April to Exmouth coming up after last year driving up setting up camp and being told to evacuate due to the cyclone
Hopefully we have more luck this year
Just after some help with Exmouth
We are staying at Yardi Creek Caravan Park
Will try and get the boys onto a real mackeral, and hopefully a few good bottom fish
Any advice will be great, not really fished up there before and with our boat wont be heading to far outside the reef
Happy to trade a few MM spots if anyone is keen
Even a spot near Tandabiddi for some big squid, doesn't really matter as long as the boys are catching something, that was the best part of Monkey Mia
Thanks in advance, looking forward to Exmouth
Cheers Coach

Can I park boat anywhere out front of lobster shack in cervantes?
Submitted by beeroclock on Fri, 2022-01-14 15:37Hi all just chasing some advice. We gonna be in Jurien bay for easter. Plan is one day to head down to lobster shack cervantes for lunch, smash down a few crays with some lobster lager then troll the 20 odd km's back to jurien with a few deep divers back along the outer reef looking for mackies on the way home. Question is - am i able to pull the boat up on the beach next to lobster shack. Would prefer if i can see boat from front of lobster shack but anywhere as close as possible will do. Are there any areas i can go to cheers for any advice

Swan River Mulloway
Submitted by ctan1968 on Fri, 2022-01-14 09:03Hello all,
Thinking of a trip out to the river this weekend in the boat. Potentially a bit of evening trolling for tailor and then dropping a line for mulloway. Moon seems to be good and the tide at night will be perfect.
Would a good area be around the Perth waters or the deeper areas in Mosman's/Blackwall? Thanks in anticipation.

Dinner ( robbos/tailor)
Submitted by little johnny on Thu, 2022-01-13 12:45Just in case my boys think tailor not good enough for them I done some robbo for them. Mate gave me some yesterday. I don’t get it that often , but in my books texture/taste and the clearness of fillets are world class quality.

Blue Eyes and Blue Crabs
Submitted by BigJevans on Thu, 2022-01-13 11:24Took the boat down to my folks on the canals in Mandurah over Christmas and got the kids to have a go dropping some nets and chasing some crabs.
After a couple of pulls and throwing back undersize crabs we managed a decent male and called it, cooked the single crab up and had little miss eat her first crab that she'd caught, pretty sure shes hooked now :)

Swan crabbing
Submitted by Sea goat on Thu, 2022-01-13 06:22Hey guys.
looking to take the kids crabbing on Friday morning in the swan, probably around Matilda bay. Anyone been catching in the swan lately? Or am I wasting my time? Also is it still a case of earlier the better? Kids are early risers, but sunrise may be pushing it!!

Marron 2022
Submitted by choc on Wed, 2022-01-12 20:47Hi Guys and Gals
Just a quick report on the 2022 marron season so far. Opening day was a success. My son dropped his nets in at 12 and pulled his first net at 12.20. He rang me and said 'I've already got five sized ones' I thought he meant out of his six nets, but no, this was just out of his first net. I told him to ring again after pulling his six nets which he did. 'Dad I'm bagged out' this was at 12.30. He had gone with his old school teacher and her husband who had never caught marron before, they also got their bag and were extremely happy getting them. I think we have two more addicted marroners.
I was busy getting the yard ready for our new pool so couldn't go at lunch time. Me and a few mates went Saturday night to a forrest dam we go to and we all bagged out. Plenty around at the moment so get into it.
Choc.

COVID Tackle
Submitted by Rod Stroker on Tue, 2022-01-11 18:42How many people on here have caught COVID from contact with all the shit imported tackle everone is selling now?
The latest trend seems to be selling imported crap at premium prices like it was made locally - like a painted jighead with shit hooks tied with string is worth $30???
I dont want to pay for crap and I really don't want to pay for crap with a side order of COVID!!!
If you blokes keep buying this up I reckon we're all rooted even if our Premier does a better job than God at protecting us from ourselves.
Is there anyone making quality gear in West Oz any more that isn't contaminated with Wuhan herpes virus???

Flare Expiry Dates - Trap For New(ish) Players
Submitted by Work to Fish on Tue, 2022-01-11 11:09Hi All,
I was just checking the expiry date on my flares (pack of 4 offshore) and noticed they orange flares had a different expiry date to the red flares
- orange flares manufactured 12/19 and expire 12/22
- red flares manufactured 09/19 and expire 03/23
I was reminded to check when I saw the safety sign at the boat ramp a few days back - not knowing that having different expiry dates is the norm, I quickly checked (only the red flares) and therefore assumed both orange and red would expire 03/23 - it wasn't until I got home and checked again, that I noticed the red flares would actually expire 12/22.
Lesson for me (and others newish to boating) is to check dates on both flares as they will differ.
