Personal Locator Beacon
Submitted by seaswirl on Sun, 2013-01-27 12:09A couple of months ago after hearing about guys fall off there boats, I bought a Personal locator beacon. Its very small and lite, I wear it around my neck on a lanyard anytime that I am on the boat. Considering how much we spend on fishing gear how can you not justify buying one of these....www.acrelectronics.com

New Member
Submitted by Simbiotic on Sun, 2013-01-27 11:50Hey Guys,
I just wanted to say hello. I have been lurking around this site for a while, but just decided to join up and get involved.
I'm originally from North Qld, but have been living in Perth for two years now.
I'm a LB fisher for now, and love to go camping at the beach and throw a line in.
I've gone out a few times close to town here, (South Mole -> Hillaries) but never had much luck, so i need to work on that, but i recently discovered Wilbinga, and that's currently my favorite weekend spot.
Catch you all round the forums.

Line for Tyrnos 30
Submitted by snapper_seeker on Sat, 2013-01-26 08:20Hey guys just wondering what line I should put on my Tyrnos 30, I will be using it for ballooning n the summer months and bottom bouncing etc in the winter. Looking at spending around 30-40$ for line. I was thinking putting around 300m of eBay braid as backing and then another 300m of 50lb low stretch. Anyway thanks in advance for ideas.
note: I balloon from woodies point ammo jetty so full braid will get tangled too easily with the million other ballooners there.
cheers,
snapper_seeker

What Type of Shell
Submitted by Saltdog on Sat, 2013-01-26 07:45Hi, Does anyone know what type of shell this is.
It was found washed up on the beach down at Hopetoun.
I did think it may be apart of the Nautilus family, markings are different on this shell.

Salmon Run
Submitted by salmonwanter on Fri, 2013-01-25 20:17Hi this is my first comment so please reply.
I really love salmon and would love to hear others veiws on places, times, tackle and anything else to do with catching salmon.
I usually fish off the beach all around the southwest and am willing to buy new tackle as I am new and do not yet own much.
Please reply as I am desperate to feel the bite of a big aussie salmon.

A knee recon so I'm in a leg brace and can't bend the leg.. Does
anyone know of any decent places to head to. obviously I don't
want your secret locations just a decent spot to chase some land based
fish. Won't be any good off a beach so thinking a decent jetty or wharf etc.

FW members outside of WA
Submitted by Ben Derecki on Fri, 2013-01-25 09:59At the end of March I'm taking off with my wife and two kids for a five month trip around Oz.
Fishing is obviously making up an important part of the trip and in some cases we're directing our route around certain spots that I want to have a crack at fish (eg coming back down from Canberra to fish Mallacoota and Tamboon Inlet).
It's always good to fish with a local of course so I'm just putting it out there to see if there are any FW members outside of WA who would be happy for me to hit them up when I'm in their area either to see if they're available for a fish while I'm in their neighbourhood or if not then at least for some local intel.
If so, can you post / PM your location and when we're getting close to that part of the world I'll get in touch and we can go from there?
Cheers
Ben

Saturday Morning Fish?
Submitted by Slap on Thu, 2013-01-24 20:53Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone was heading out Saturday morning for a fish. We don't have any pans set in stone but are looking to gain some fishing advice from some experienced anglers.
Our family have recently started fishing off our new boat, a 5.2m Genesis Ally Plate, without many plans or strategy and are looking to evolve. We have taken it to Rotto and back no problems, but we are looking being washed up at home by 12pm. So we'd fish closer Perth.
Any people heading out, please feel free to PM me and we can head out together, or we'd appreciate any PM advice on zones/spots to target, start etc..
If you would like me to answer any questions or whatever, hit me back.
Looking forward to learning more,
Cheers
Jarrad.

Fishing Charters and accomodation
Submitted by Lucky Last Cast on Thu, 2013-01-24 18:07It makes me wonder why some people book in for a fishing charter not only during the school holidays but on a long weekend and expect to get accomodation at the last minute.
We would like to remind everyone if you are heading up here to go on one of our charters and are expecting to stay overnight we suggest booking accomodation at the same time as you book a charter.
On our website www.luckylastcast.com it has links to accomodation here in Jurien Bay.
There is also camping grounds in Sandy Cape which is aprox 12 kls out of Jurien which is a really nice spot to stay however they do not have showers. We have seen large caravans as well as motor homes camped up in there so larger vehicles do fit!
Jurien Bay council also offer a over flow camping ground when it is needed. If you want to enquire about the over flow camping ground you can do so by calling the Dandaragan Council here in Jurien Bay.
We would also like to inform you all that we offer gift vouchers which can be emailed to you for you to print off at home and give to your loved one!
We look forward to meeting some of you fisherman and fisher ladies soon!
Tight lines everyone
Dave and Kate

Artificial Reefs
Submitted by big john on Thu, 2013-01-24 17:27Be interested to see how these progress. Should be an annual thing I reckon where Recreational Fishing Licence money supports the establishment of two new reefs each year in different regions of WA.

Submitted by big john on Thu, 2013-01-24 15:24Not sure if this has been posted recently, but can't hurt even if it has.
Last chance to have a say about Burkes Marine Park proposals, who knows we may change his mind about fishing the 'Perth Canyon' aka Rottnest Trench.

WANTED - skippy from Geraldton, Abrolhos, Shark Bay
Submitted by Glenn Moore on Thu, 2013-01-24 14:36I am involved in a project looking at trying to identify different species of skippy (Silver Trevally, not Sand Trevally) on the west coast. We are chasing skippy from the northern part of their range - from Geraldton, Abrolhos , Shark Bay or anywhere even further north than that! We are interested in anything really, but especially interested in getting some from deeper water (40m +) up that way.
Can anyone help with some donations?
PM if you prefer
Cheers,
Glenn
