LB NOR Shore Report

Seeing as I spent some time and fuel cruising the beaches today (nothing better to do that can't be done on another day) I thought I would give a bit of a heads up for those looking at heading out.

I've pretty much checked the coast from Jindalee to Loonies. Conditions today are perfect. There are still some areas that have lots of weed but there are also plenty of fishable areas. Swell is still up a bit and the tide is quite high in the middle of the night. Looking at the weather for the weekend I can't see why you guys shouldn't get out and have a crack (unless you are glued to the TV).

Radioactive Tuna?

Sounder at speed

Hi guys

Advice needed.

I currently have a 5.5m ali searider and a furuno 620 with the 600w transducer. Which was on the boat when i purchased it 7 months ago. the motor has a xl leg.

Everytime i go out the sounder seems to work ok until i reach around 12 knots. After then it loses its depth and goes all fuzzy, useless. This is making it very time consuming finding new ground. The boat came with a mounting position as seen on the photos.

How fast does everyone else drive until they lose a good read?

Not sure if its the position of the tranny in relation to the motor? or is this just normal.

Any help would be great.

South Tomi wreck, Geralton

So there is a wreck just north of the shipping channel in about 20 metres of water, with an danger marker next to it. Just wondering if this is the South Tomi and what the go is with fishing it. I'm assuming because it was sunk to be a dive location that fishing is a no go, but have not found the proof?

How to reset a Tanacom Bull 750

Hi All,

Heard that couple here got Tanacom 750s ... the older (blue) one, not the new orangy ... not sure if it'll make any difference in the software ... anyway ...

The counter doesn't want to work after I changed the line on it; any idea on how to reset the memory, and set the line rating on them? Please speak button position, as mine all in Japanese

Any help would be much appreciated.

Freaky Loonies storys (pipidinny)

Hi guys,

We were just having a talk about fishing loonies. Quite a few weird storys came up.

I was told never to talk about it because we may be locked up at graylands and they would chuck away the key haha.

We had a ufo sighting up close there. Not saying it was alien, could of been something secret from Pearce airforce base?? Wont go to much into that because you had to be there to understand what went on that night.

Other story  was just told but some guys that never bullcrap even after a few beers said that they were fishing till 2am and retreated back to the 4wd. They had a little camp fire going and there were around 5 of them. They were the only ones on the beach or so they thought.

The only light from them was coming from the fire and as they were standing around talking some guy walked straight through the middle of them and kept walking, didnt look at them, didnt say anything just passed through between them and disappeared down the beach. Now thats a long way from anywhere to be taking a night stroll down the beach. Couple of these guys tried to say gday but the guy walked straight through like the guys werent there. It apparently had them stunned for hours after.

I have always known it as loonies and found out why on my first trip there with the UFO incident and no i wasnt on drugs or drinking, none of us did that kind of stuff.

Seeing as though its had the name loonies for some time before i knew it im thinking there must be more storys.

Please add to this, maybe a good idea for a up & coming article ;)

FV Margiris Reflagging

So, who else out there is utterly disgusted that the FV Margiris has been reflagged as an Australian vessel, and been renamed the Abel Tasman?

http://www.theadvocate.com.au/story/306952/seafish-confirms-margiris-name-change/?cs=86

Seafish Tasmania today confirmed the former FV Margiris has now been reflagged as an Australian vessel and renamed the Abel Tasman. Seafish Director Gerry Geen said today there were still some matters which needed to be finalised before the trawler was ready to go to sea.

He said that Seafish took the issue of by-catch minimization very seriously and that the company was comfortable with the environmental conditions imposed earlier this week by Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke.

He added that many of these conditions would have otherwise been applied on a voluntary basis.

Mr Geen said it was expected that the Abel Tasman would be fishing initially in the Great Australian Bight.

In response to comments by the South Australian Government, Mr Geen said that Seafish Tasmania would not be competing with the sardine fishing industry, or affecting their catch.

Definitive proof the Fed Govt thinks anglers are stupid

Last week Enviroment Minister Tony Burke's office said: "Those in Perth would have to travel over 65 kilometres to reach the nearest non fishing area." This is part of their media campaign that the no fishing areas are so far offshore as to be inaccessible to family anglers anyway and therefore not an issue.
I then emailed his office and said "Surely this is not an accurate quote, given that the Marmion-Two Rocks sanctuary zone is only 5km offshore?"
I got this reponse today: "It is true that the small sanctuary (or Marine National Park) zone in the proposed Two Rocks Commonwealth marine reserve is only 5km offshore.  However, the Marine National Park zone in the proposed Two Rocks reserve is also about 65km from Perth."
PLEASE!
How many rec fishers live in the CBD??? How many people launch from there to go fishing? How is the distance from the city centre to the coast at all relevant to angler access?
They are are treating us with contempt and it stinks.

Deep sea fishing in Bunbury

Gday,

I have been thinking about going fishing in Bunbury soon and I have been hitting google to see if there were any decent catches at the moment and where the fish were biting. I have a 25 foot trophy so distance out isnt too much of a drama, its finding the ground and fish which is the drama and everywhere I look on google seems to be coming up with dead ends and everyone complaining there is no fish in Bunbury.

If anyone would like to give me pointers or let me know if they have caught any lately it would be a great help!

Cheers

Tri-crane swivels - what are they for?

Can someone please tell me what tri-crane swivels are generally used for? Bought a few by accident.

free cutting boards??

hi guys

not sure if there any good but i found theses today...

they are a very hard, almost glass type of resin, they will chip like normal glass but, so you need to be careful with them.

i thought they would make a great fillet board for members that have a sink out the back and want something nice and flat to cut up on, so i grabed them.

we had a glass chopping board in the house for ages until someone(not mentioning names) smashed it, and it was so easy to clean.

as you can see there are differant colors and sizes, the biggest is the red one on top and measures 108cm x 48cm and is 1/2 thick.

the others are slightly smaller and varie in width and lenght.

if you want one it is pick up only from forrestfeild, only one per person, if they dont all go then you can have more.

pm me for address details if your keen, first to pick up gets whichever one they like until there gone.

cheers ron
