Moving transducer
Submitted by Livewire on Wed, 2018-05-09 18:29Hey guys after some advice on moving my TM/1kw transducer. The 200Hzs worked fine but 50hzs very intermittent. I marked the old position, the bottom of the transducer hung just below the hull. I'm thinking similar depth but move it a couple of inches towards the motor. In hope too clear the signal up. What do you think?

Coral Bay Trolling/Squid advice
Submitted by Rowanhill on Wed, 2018-05-09 11:47Hi All. Search function still not working for me sorry...headed up to C/Bay in a month for 3 weeks R & R...Bottom bashing, no issues always get a feed-however looking at doing a bit more trolling this year. Here is what i 'think' i know, however i am up for any simple advice offered- my knowledge is limited as we do not troll much on the sth coast, only when we head north. Some very sound advice on FW, always find feedback awesome.
Hard bodies- trolling approx 5-7 Knots. Mackeral mainly ? Have run a spread of 3 before, cpl deep divers, one shallow, kind off zig zag in 15-27 m headed sth of sth entrance. Caught a cpl, but never got more than 2 in a go. i might be too shallow/slow etc.
For Tuna/Wahoo/Mahi Mahi/Billies- have some soft oscars to give a go but really have no ideas on troll spead- 12 knots? Depth i have zero idea..?
Also gonna give the squid a shake this year-have always been around five fingers and got a few-not sure if there are better general locations to try?
Been some good threads of recent adventures up there..jealous !!!
cheers in advance

Battery for Electic Reel
Submitted by Bing on Wed, 2018-05-09 10:44Hi Guys,
I've purchased a Daiwa Tanacom 1000, I was wondering what batteries people had there electrics hooked up too? I'll be using it on my cousins boat and don't want to connect up to his boat batteries (looking for a stand alone battery).
I found the below post which was from 2012 but hoping for some more up to date information.
http://fishwrecked.com/forum/battery-suit-electric-reel
I spoke to multiple staff members from different Battery World stores and was given different suggestions.
Cheers.

Travelling down from Karratha.
Search function doesnt seem to be working hence the question.

Stone protection
Submitted by scotto on Tue, 2018-05-08 20:29Gday fellas,
I’ve recently picked up my new rig, an immaculate Caribbean Concorde with a pretty new 115 Suzuki. My first glass boat, and I’m pretty pumped with how she’s gone so far. The previous owner has kept her PRISTINE, to a point where you would actually think the hull is brand new.
My only drama is I’m heading to gnaraloo in a few weeks, and I don’t think I’ll have enough time to whip up some decent stone deflectors. I’m hopin you blokes might have any quick or simple ideas of minimising stone damage from the tracks.
I was thinking of maybe wrapping the whole underside of the trailer in shadecloth, to stop the stones flicking up? or maybe a full height, full width temporary mud flap, that could go behind the Ute?
Keen to to hear ideas, or methods you’ve been successful with.
Scotto.

Don't see this every day !
Submitted by The Saint on Tue, 2018-05-08 17:05Got back to the Kalbarri ramp this afternoon to see a boat trailer on the ramp, in the water and upside down !
Apparently lady was attempting to launch the boat and somehow managed to launch boat, trailer and fourby.
Vehicle was in the carpark loaded with camping and personal gear, doors open and water draining non stop.
Would certainly put a downer on your holiday. Sorry about sideways pics, can't get them to load right way up.

Coral Bay Trawling - under Commonwealth license 53 tonne
Submitted by Gunner966 on Tue, 2018-05-08 09:29Was chatting to the crew off of Olympia up her in Coral Bay after they had been wet lining for Goldband. Mentioned that they managed to get a tonne of Goldband , which was 1/ 10th of there quota. They mentioned there was a trawler up her 6 weeks ago that caught 53 tonne. I asked how could this be he he said that they were operating under a commonwealth license.
I didn't realise there was a difference. Didn't really seem fair to me.

Exmouth boating
Submitted by Sea goat on Mon, 2018-05-07 15:20Hi guys. Heading up to Exmouth on thurs. first time with the boat. Have a 5.4m ally cuddly. Was after some rough ideas on what conditions to look for? I.e easterly better on west side, or w in gulf? Also any indications on what limits ppl would consider, ie less than 14knot se and less than 2m swell? I’m not familiar with the area so sometimes can be a struggle to picture what s forecast on paper will mean on the water!
any help greatly appreciated!
cheers, goat.

Braid purchase
Submitted by gruntre69 on Mon, 2018-05-07 14:45I'm keen to respool one of my reels with Daiwa saltiga boat braid. I want to go with PE4 but I'd go with PE5 if anyone wants to share. I reckon I'll need about 400-450 of the PE4 or about 300-350 of the PE5.
You have to buy it in 1800m spools and I don't need that much.
I can get it arrived in Perth for $300. Anybody keen to go halves or thirds? I have a line counter so can coind of my third or half...

Getting back into the game
Submitted by MAGA2020 on Mon, 2018-05-07 09:45Hi Everyone
Ever since going fishing at Greenhead during Easter i have been hitting the river a lot with my girlfriend who has really taken to the hobby. Its been about 5 years since i have done any real fishing and im falling for the Swan all over again and have a few questions.
Gear - has it improved much or changed? still got plenty of TT jigs, ZZman, gulp placcys and little 10grams slices. Currently running a Penn Pinpoint Tournament and a Affinity 2000 but i am thinking of getting a Shimano Zodias/Samurai Reaction with a Penn Battle series 2 in a 2500 for the girlfriend and maybe something similair for myself. Whats good on the market for chasing flatties, herring off the metro groynes and bream/tailor in the swan? Is Flurocarbon leader still the Sh1t or has something bested that?
Spots - Because of all the work at Elizabeth Quay, has that changed the river much? is point reso still good for tailor/flathead, is claremont still good for the same?
Bait - I noticed the bluebait and river prawns have come under the hammer pretty hard? whats the story behind that?
So in the few weeks i have been hitting the Swan/metro area again i have got the following. Sizeable and plenty of Black Bream under the Causeway near Trinity College, Black Bream and whiting at Salters/Canning river SP Yacht club, tiny Tailor at Applecross jetty, flounder at mossies (saw some monster tailor chasing bait fish but i was on diving heard bodies :( ), decent herring feed at Floreat and the GF got busted off at Hillarys rock wall (probably a chopper).
some proof

Car fuel consumption
Submitted by suzi q on Sun, 2018-05-06 08:51Hi Everyone
We have a 6.7m bar Crusher and a petrol Toyota Prado. On our trips up north we use more the. 28L/100km. We are looking to change out the Prado shortly, and I’m keen to find out if anyone has had any luck with reducing fuel consumption to something less then what we currently do. We obviously do all the drag and weight reduction things already, but it hasn’t made all that much difference.
thanks everyone

Tamala Station - Commodore 670 All Rounder
Submitted by kinetic_skink on Sat, 2018-05-05 16:26We are going to steep point in June, and were going to boat across from Denham. However we are curious whether any of the Tamala sites were capable of launching and retrieving a 6.7m Fibreglass Boat.
I did search the forums but could only find vague details on whether it would be possible.

Busso Bread & Butter
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Fri, 2018-05-04 09:14Day 1 of 6 glorious weeks of long service leave starts today and we're heading down to Busso for a week Sunday with a fair old swell rolling through so most likely going to stay inside the bay and concentrate on getting the kids onto some squid etc and hitup the 4 Mile but have the KGs moved into the shallow sand patches yet? Used to get them in the middle of summer in my uncle's dinghy in the 90s but just can't find them these days.
Cheers JF
